For someone who has been alive 25 years I’ve seen the transformation of technology. CDs are barely used in today’s world. but with my macbook air being without a CD/DVD reader I felt this was a necessity not only for movies but also have pictures and music on CDs from my childhood. works perfect.

My old laptop had a disk drive embedded in its hardware, unfortunately I broke that old computer and upgraded to the MacBook. I am a huge movie buff and had no way to watch my films, that was until invested in this disk drive. It's great and I haven't had any problems functioning it since it's so easy to use.

Works great, and has a great design and matches my macbook

Granddaughter has a MacBook Pro without a DVD in it. Tried to use a universal DVD plug in but couldn't get it to work properly. Got this for her for Christmas and she plugged it in and all was great! Product is really great but sometimes find it annoying that "Apple" only works with "Apple" but sometimes it's well worth the price!

Since Macs no longer include an internal DVD drive, this is great to have. It is sleek and compact and works plug and play.

This CD/DVD drive is perfect. It works quickly and quietly.

Simple Essential fast & effective very small for storage

This is a really solid drive. The case is solid aluminum, the cable is permanently attached to the back, and the slot loading is quiet and strong. The connector is an old USB square end - to use USB-C you'll need an adapter (no idea why Apple made this with this semi-obsolete connector when everything they sell is now USB-C). This is now a necessary evil with Ventura Mac OS. Apple did away with support for third party drives. If you need to read or write CD's, play or write DVD's, this is the only drive that works.

I know others have complained about the price but I must say this product worked wonderfully with no set up or reading a confusing manual. Well worth it. I have a DVD player hooked up to my TV that I cannot figure out how to work and what a waste of money! You will not regret buying this product if you need a DVD drive for your Mac laptop.

Since my iMac did not come with a disc drive, I decided to get one so that I could play CD's and DVD's here in my home office while working. This device does everything it says it will and it is so easy to use. You just plug it into the USB port, slip the disc in and away it goes. I am really enjoying this item!

Needed this for my MacBook Pro Retina to upload some music CDs. Works great. Cost is a little high.

For $70+, this is a bit of a crime on Apple's part. I was nervous about buying this because I had seen some reviews (from 2013 and earlier) say that there were problems with this device, and that it was the worst Apple-made product yet. It seems those kinks have been figured out and now it's a fine product. It's worked great for us.

the dvd/cd burn drive is very quick and runs quietly.

Build and Quality are second to none with Apple products. I was looking for an external drive to go with my MacBook Pro. While I considered some alternative drives that were cheaper, I am glad I when with this one instead. It just feels like its built well and so far works perfect with all of my computers.

Old reliable product fir those of use who still use the CD/DVD media. It will no doubt still be usable long after the media will have gone to the graveyard long with floppy disks, ZIP disks and other electromechanically readable media

When I purchased my iMac at Best Buy, I knew I would need to add an external dvd/cd drive. While I know this technology appears to be on the way out like cassette tapes, I have a collection of disks that I want to be able to access. Obviously, this drive is the answer for me.

There isn't much to say about the superdrive. It's a super fast, durably made, high quality external disc drive so that you can use disc based software or CDs and DVDs with your new sleek, thin Macbook. It works flawlessly. If you need a disc drive, just save yourself the trouble and hassle of searching for alternatives and buy this one.
