    External Drive

Now that most computers do not come with an internal dvd, cd, rw drive you may have to buy an external one if you need or want it, for downloading things (like my printer), or reading other discs. This one goes with my MAC and it works just fine.

I was happy to find a reliable Apple replace for optical drive for my 2012 iMac—and I got it for less than the list price as an open box product at Best Buy. I have had for about six weeks, and it works just fine and completely silently!

I recently purchased the new MacBook Pro 2016 80 1707 and bought this DVD drive as a supplement just in case I needed it although I haven't had to use it yet I'm glad that I was able to find it in an open box model it's always good to have even though you don't know when you'll Need it

Two other drives couldn’t work with my Mac without jumping through hoops. But this, and all I had to do was plug it in. Paying for simplicity has its advantages I suppose.

I purchased this shortly after I bought my first Apple computer (Imac). I felt it would be necessary to have this since the IMac did not include a disk drive. So far, I've used it to watch a movie and save music from my cds. It works great and I'm sure it will come in use in the future.

This Mac Super Drive lives up to its reputation as a reliable addition to your Mac products. I use this often to burn music to discs and it is very easy to use. I highly recommend it. Worth the low price.

It is a Super Drive! A very expensive super drive, the reason for the four stars. Yes, I could have gotten something cheaper that would have worked just as well, but my luck over the years with drives like this has not been good. Spend the money on the Apple, it works and works and works. When they first came out I bought one of these, years ago, the kids still have it and it is still going strong.

This is a solid piece of tech, with high-quality construction and sleek appearance. The slot-loading was a must for my work area, as tray loading is a pain. I don't think optical drives are anywhere near obsolete and resent slightly that this had to be an added expense to my new iMac. I still like to have hard copies of my software, and audio/ visual media and bought this. It's a little loud in comparison with the ultra-quiet computers but nothing that is bothersome. Easy to set up.

Works perfectly, but the accompanying documentation was typically inadequate, so I had to proceed by trial and error. It took all of ten minutes.

The drive on my desktop computer died years ago. I bought a cheap replacement, and it of course only worked for a short period of time. This time I bought the Mac version which is working like a charm. You get what you pay for.

We recently purchased a new Mac desktop (first-time Mac owners!) and had absolutely no idea that there was no DVD/CD drive! So we quickly went online and found this gem - it arrived right away and is easy to hook up - just plug it in and it's ready to go. Very lightweight and portable - great purchase.

I have a MacBook Pro and as is with most computers today there is no disc drive. I plugged it in with no setup and started burning CD's for my wife. It was as if it was already an original part of the computer. No downloading of drives. You pay more but you get the quality you expect from Apple.

Got the 27" 5k Mac and totally surprised no DVD drive. No matter what Apple feels about a DVD drive some of us still use them. Now that I vented drive works flawlessly. No issues to setting it up. Does what it is designed to do. Very compact, fits nicely on the base of the stand under the screen.

I know CDs and DVDs are going to the wayside eventually, but you never know when you'll need this baby. For $79, it's a nice piece of equipment to have. Simple connection via USB on the back of my IMac. Thanks to Cuyahoga Falls BestBuy for the suggestion :)

Great inexpensive, simple replacement for a failing internal SuperDrive on my iMac. Though advertised as working only with Macs without a drive, found a workaround on the support site that allows me to use it as a second drive. Does a great job!

I am not a wiz kid when it comes to computers. My needs are simple and therefore I probably would not get the maximum potential out of this product. However, it suits my purposes just fine. It was easy to set up and very easy to use.

One aspect I wasn't crazy about with the newer laptops is a lack of an optical drive. I still need one, so I purchased this one. It's fine for what I need, might have been a little pricier than I wanted to pay, but I figured the Apple drive would cause the least problems with compatibility issues.
