I have purchased one before for my own computer and got this as a gift for my daughter because it has always worked perfectly for me. Speed, quality and reliability are just what I needed. There may be less expensive ones but this is worth it.

Seem less accessibility and a practical choice for any Mac owner. Slim to fit alongside your laptop book bag and certainly necessary to access your favorite dvds on the road.

It performed the tasks required perfectly. It is simple to use and makes a nice addition to our Mac Pro. The people at Best Buy were very helpful in helping us pick out this drive which works great with our system.

My wife purchased a MacBook for her small business and was extremely disappointed when she learned that it did not have a DVD/CD drive. She gotten a lot of use from this external drive, which is very sleek and lightweight.

I was dismayed when I saw that I had to purchase this in addition to my new iMac since it no longer comes with one. The price was reasonable so I purchased it at the same time. It was so easy to install! Just plug the USB into the back of the iMac and it works perfectly!

This product was perfect for my need of an external disk drive. At first it was a little confusing because there are no buttons on the disk drive, so you have to do it through the computer to eject stuff, but overall it is a great product and am extremely happy with it!

I'm so glad they finally removed the cd drive from the Apple computers. The instructions for use were stop on, plug in... And use. I didn't have to do anything besides that. Great product and easy to use. Very fast at burning large amounts of pictures on disc.

I've not had a problem yet with this drive. It does what it's supposed to, though the only thing I would change is adding a manual eject button. But hey, as long as the drive never fails I should never have to take it apart to retrieve a CD or DVD, right?

I recently purchased a Apple MacBook Pro due to my old one not being able to have the software upgraded anymore. The new laptop of course does not have the DVD/CD drive. I'm very happy with this purchase of the reader. Works like a champ.

The super drive is too expensive to not also play Blu-ray. The connecting wire seems real fragile and the drive itself can heat up and get a little noisy. If you need it because you don't have access to a CD/DVD drive otherwise, get it. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend picking this up.

Great product from Apple for my Mac Mini. Although, I regret that I have to purchase a Superdrive rather than having it included in the computer, but that's for another review. Buy this if you want it to match and perform like the rest of your Apple products.

Lacks an eject button, difficult to backtrack on a DVD, the cord is built in. It works well, but for this price I think it should have more features. Check out the reviews on the Apple site and you may want to go with a different external DVD drive.

Sure beats noisy ones or drives that overheated my previous computers. Works perfect with my new iMac and looks good too. I like that it’s separate, love it actually since I rarely use a drive anymore. Reads and writes without problems.

Tried the LG drive and brought it back. I decided to spend the money to purchase the Apple product. The easiness to use this super drive works well with my MAC MINI and Air. Great foot print and very portable.

This drive is extremely useful for every macbook owners without a cd drive. It runs great and very helpful to read disks when needed to. I would highly recommend this to every macbook owners or even ultrabook owners. However, do read the manual carefully for operation.

I bought this for the few instances when we still need physical media on the new MacBook Pros with Retina Display. The build quality seems solid and it worked without issues on three different MacBooks of varying ages.

I love it. Since my Macbook doesn't have a a disk drive this really come in handy. Everyone would tell you to get a cheaper brand. But you just spent at least 2K on a computer why would you want to put a watered down disk drive on the computer?? GET THIS DRIVE

I occasionally need a cd or DVD player and my MacBook Air doesn’t have the drive. This add on allows me to store it in my desk and attach it to my MacBook when I need to use it. I got it on sale and have been very happy with my purchase.
