After deciding to go with the retina display, I wasn't happy to have to buy a CD/DVD drive (I have to burn CD's and DVD's for work on occasion, and I like watching DVD's on my computer), but this one was ready and available for a decent price for people like me.

Bought this Sony sound bar to get better sound out of my TV, which just happens to be a Sony also. I figured this sound bar would be a good fit and it was. It even included the optical cable. However, we still have trouble understanding what is being said sometimes. We think it is the movie sound track-it only happens with movies. With the TV speakers, we would adjust the volume from 20 to 45 depending on the movie or channel. With this sound bar we only need a 4 or 5 level up or down adjustment. That being said, there is no visible or audible adjustment level, so you never know where the volume setting is at. But, I bought it on sale and it did improve the sound and the volume control is easier so we like it. It is also Blue tooth capable, so we paired it with Alexa and listen to music during the day. Again, a better speaker that Alexa's speaker. Of course you have to change the input from TV to Bluetooth, and back to TV. And you now have 2 remotes, Directv & the Sony sound bar. We don't mind these little inconveniences. We are older and remember no remotes, fine tuning and moving the rabbit ears to get better reception when you change the channel, and no blue tooth.

I mainly use it to transfer CDs to ITunes although the transfer rate could be faster. Ejecting the CD is easy with the eject button on my keyboard. I haven't used it much yet but so far it works great with my 2013 IMac. The drive is very simple and easy to use.

Nice drive for the mac. It's fast and quiet. Don't like the fact that there's no eject button on it (I'm used to PCs) or the fact that It has to be connected to the mac as it needs a powered usb (was hoping it would just connect to my hub, but no, I have to sacrifice a usb on the computer for it). It also has a really short usb cord so it has to be right beside the computer. Other than those issues, it's nice.

Fast enough , great design ...... absolutely necessary if you need to burn cd,dvd ecc.

If you have a MacBook Air (which has no optical drives) it is a perfect addition for when you want to install software from a disk, watch a video or record a DVD. Interface is simple and effective. Works like a charm and keeps the Air very light to work with . Since CDs and DVDs seem to be dying with the advent of "The Cloud" it is smart to keep the weight and bother of an optical player isolated from your computer.

Rock on! What a great addition to my MacBook Pro M1. Will require an Apple AV adapter to work properly. Don't get conned into buying a HyperDrive hub - they are junk!

It's APPLE. What can I say? It works as expected. I bought this to use with my new IMAC 5K. Although most every app and anything else you need is subscription based or downloadable, every now and then, you will still need and external drive.

In the beginning, I had regrets spending 70 bucks on something Inwas uncertain of. Nevertheless, I have no regrets. I am glad and pleased, and have not had any issues since I purchased this (well over 5 months ago).

If you bought that shiny new MacBook or MacBook Pro, this is an accessory that you are definitely going to need at some point. It has a very nice build quality compared to the less expensive models and of course, it matches perfectly.

A must for today's MacBook Pro and very reliable. I don't need to burn CDs that often so I love having a sleek laptop but when I do, this light, friendly accessory does the trick. It doesn't need its own power source so it's extremely portable.

Seems fine so far. I liked it so much I ordered a second one. I did have a problem with using on the Mac Mini because I did not know the secret phrase hidden in the operating system. I googled the problem and got directed to the hidden phrase (something about all volumes). After that we got along tickety boo.

Why buy anything else? Apple products are built better. All you have to do is buy and plug in to your iMac. It works from there. No software needed. Awesome!

Recently treated myself to my new MAC, having had MACs before, was surprised to find no disk drive. No problem, I just purchased an external drive. I'm old school and like to use CDs/DVDs for back ups. Works well. Glad I made the purchase.

As new Mac don’t come with a Cd or DVD drive this accessory fills the bill for downloading from CD’s or watching DVD’s. Also a must if older software must be reinstalled. Installation is as easy as plug and use.

This external drive allows me to download music CDs I already own to my music files. I also can play DVDs I haven’t added to my movie files. It’s very useful for me.

Very happy with my purchase I had actually previously purchased a different brand and returned it because it was to confusing for me and my computer couldn't find it. This one immediately my computer recconnized and I began to use with no problems

this is an awesome product I purchased with my mac, and I am very glad that I did. If you have cd's to play, it's great. All I did was plug it in and it started working. What could be easier than that!
