I know Apple wants to streamline and making their newer iMacs without an optical drive is a good way to do that, so the fact that I miss having one built in is the only thing I do not like about this external drive. Other than that, it works just fine.

The DVD drive is sleek with a small footprint, and a must if you do any kind of serious work on your Mac. Out of the box, plug in the usb connection and I was ready to go. No software to worry about. And, very reasonably priced...love it!

Needed to transfer video of performances to DVD. Purchased. For the band to use. Works well as far as I know. What was great was the ease of purchase. Placed on line, then an email was sent when ready to pick up in store. All completed in about an hour.

With typical Apple quality this drive works great and is a necessity since none of the iMac’s or Macbook’s come with optical drives. It is a bit misleading to call it a “SuperDrive” when it lacks blue ray compatability. Maybe just “CDDrive” would be more appropriate. But it works well, it’s small and it gets the job done reading and writing cd’s.

Another great Apple device that just works like it is supposed to. It's the simple things I like, and this drive is just that, simple to add, (it's plug and play) and it's simple to use.

As an older user, I really regret the lack of built-in DVD drives, but there is a solution for those of us who still utilize that technology. This external drive works seamlessly with our new Mac. Plug it in, and everything is quickly accessible.

It's just a DVD drive that matches my MacBook Pro. Nothing special, but nothing underwhelming either. I plugged it in and it automatically worked. I used it to obtain the digital copies from movie disks I own. It has the build quality I expect from Apple. I kinda wish they'd upgrade all their disk drives to Blu-Ray but it's not often a disk of any kind gets used in the house.

The MacBook Air is perfect for someone who travels with it due to its function capabilities and light weight, though it does not have a DVD or CD player. The Super Drive 8x is the perfect accompaniment for that purpose, easy to use and runs well.

I needed a drive for my new iMac and this fit the bill. Typical great Apple quality and very simple to use. Plugs in to the USB port on the back of the computer.

It gives you the ability to convert and use a lot of your material with your Mac. Its light, compact, easy to hook up and works great. And the price is great. Another fine Apple product.

I need this to watch my DVD class lessons. It is easy to use partnered with my iMac. It is so neat and simple to use. It is apple packaging and the authenticity is so obvious. This is indeed recommendable!

I just started using the Superdrive that I recently bought to use with my 2020 27" iMac. My previous iMac (21" late 2009 model) had a built-in disc drive that never failed me over the years. When technology advances forced me to replace my old iMac (which no longer include a built-in disc drive, I added the Superdrive so that I could enjoy my collection of many cd's and dvd's. The Superdrive is working as promised, thus far. It's quick and silent, and fits neatly under the base of my monitor. I look forward to many good times looking at movies and listening to cd's. I recommend this product to Apple iMac users.

THIS IS A NECESSARY PRODUCT IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED A RECENT MACBOOK WITHOUT A BUILT IN DVD. MOST SOFTWARE CAN BE DOWNLOADED, HOWEVER, FOR THE INSTANCE WHERE A DOWNLOAD IS UNAVAILABLE, HAVING THIS APPLE SUPERDRIVE WILL DO THE TRICK.

I did need to update the software on my older model MacBrook Pro and then install is sleek and lightweight CD and DVD reader and wrighter to my Apple. So far, so good. Best Buy has low prices and the salespeople were knowledgeable and helpful.

I love this product. Anything Apple is never disappointing. I recently purchased a new computer and lap top. Neither one has the ability to read a DVD. New design for all Macs. I love the fact Apple provides a reader. I do like the lightness of my lap top without DVD. Makes it easy to travel. This DVD reader is perfect for old files that were stored on DVDs.

I purchased this to replace an asus burner I had, that required two USB ports. This works well for those needing to read or burn physical media on MacBook Pros, airs, Mac minis, or iMacs without requiring multiple USB ports or powered hubs.

Works great, just what I needed. Functions exactly as described.
