There are many different USB CD/DVD drives available from various companies, but Apple's slot loading Superdrive is by far the slimmest and unlike many others, Apple's Superdrive uses only one USB connection. It works great with all recent Macs laptops and desktops as well as many Windows computers, but if your computer is over 5 years old, you may have some issues.

Since MacBook Pro doesn't have an optical drive this was best choice. As long as you have the USB adapter cable to the new Thunder C port you're good to go. Good when you need it and fine to leave it home when you don't.

Got this drive to watch movies and load data from older cd's. It functions with zero hassles. The way I like it.

Even though Apple took the drive off their MacBooks, this is still a great drive for me to carry around when I need to play a CD which is too many times needed.

After trying another brand of external CD/DVD R/W drives and being dissatisfied, I purchase the Apple drive and was 100% satisfied with the performance and appearance of this product. It's a true plug and play and a well made drive.

Unfortunately, since the MacBook I have does not have a slot drive, this was a must buy, as I have some disc-based programs I needed to install. I could've saved the $80, but I understand the cost savings it could be excluding the slot drive from MacBooks. It was a plug and play setup. I did have to buy an adapter for the USB-C to USB connection.

I'll admit, I don't use this too terribly often, but it's a nice little accessory to have. That way, you don't have to rely on using a large TV. Love the portability of this, only downside is is that it doesn't work with Blu-Ray.

Easy to use just plug into a usb connection on a computer and its ready to go I used it to upload some cds into iTunes and the speed is really fast I couldn’t believe how fast

It's nice that these exist for those who can't let go of CDs. I like that I don't have to tote it around, as I primarily do my CD burning at home. But it's so portable and compact that if I needed to take it with me, it wouldn't be a nuisance.

This is an accessory I do not step out without. There are many instances when people have info on CD or need you to write it on media. This is a life saver. Its works quietly and is real fast.

Needed the drive for a work related DVD that I received. Bought it, removed from the box, plugged it in and it worked immediately. No fighting with drivers or software. That's what's great about Apple stuff. Always works.

I was super impressed at how well this works with my Mac. Super easy to install and doesn’t need a supplemental power cord.

Got my wife a Mac Mini M2 to replace her old and failing 27" iMac and needed to have this for playing DVDs and burning photos and data to CD/DVD. One issue we have is that it has to be directly connected to the Mac Mini. Even with a powered hub we were told it needed power. An expansion dock is probably in our future to add more connectivity and storage options.

Great product I couldn’t begin the explain how easy this adapter is to use. Simple plug and play product is where’s is at.

Love this product. I use it at least once a week. If you want the flexibility to watch/record DVDs on the latest 2016 MacBook Pro, then this is the product to buy.

This is another great Apple product, easy to set-up, plug and play. Got a great sale price and used my reward points. I recommend the Best Buy rewards program! I needed a drive for my new Mac and this one is a great drive.

This product is truly a plug and play item. The iMac recognized the item and automatically allowed for the device to accept discs and activate them based on being data, music, or dvd without any additional actions on my part.

Easy plug 'n play straight out of the box. I was able to spin music/movie discs with ease. I paid extra to have MS Office for Mac discs. The super drive installed Office without a problem! Great solution, portable and it looks great too!

My daughter needed a disk drive for her Apple laptop, and this was a great buy. She says it works great.
