Love it, works great can’t believe they Mac’s don’t some standard with a disc drive at least till us 80’s kids die off first :)

This product makes importing optically stored files accessible on the MacBook Pro since it has no built in capability. The read/write speeds are sufficiently fast and the plug and play (compatibility) is a real plus.

It works well and quiet. Looks great with my MacBook Pro and also installed driver on my Windows laptop so works perfect on both machines. Would recommend.

I bought this to use with my new iMac cause I want to burn DVD's and I still have CD's. I does what it's supposed to do and is as small as it possibly could be.

As with all Apple products this too is truly plug and play. I purchased for use with my MacBook Air. The Air has no optical drive and this is the only option to add one I know of. Plugged it in and it worked as I expected.

This is a pretty straight forward device. No switches or buttons; just slide a disk in and off you go. At $80 there are less expensive units available, however, none as sleek and portable as this unit. The "Apple" aluminum finish looks awesome as all Apple products do. The unit runs off of USB power connected to your computer, so you need not carry an external power supply around if you are using this as a portable. Just slide it into your laptop case and off you go. Less wire, less mess. The only downside I can think of is it requires higher voltage than is typically supplied through USB ports. Therefore, this unit must be connected directly to your Laptop for proper voltage supply. It will not run on an external USB hub. So, I recommend a USB extension cable Type A male-Type A female to give you extra cable length in case you desire or need to place the Superdrive on the opposite side of your desk. The built in cable is only around 14" long. Aside from these two minor issues, this is a fantastic drive.

I love this device. I need to be able to use CDs in my work and this CD player works brilliantly with Apple computers.

This was purchased for my daughter in college to use on her apple Mac book pro for extra offline storage of items she will not use on regular basis. We also purchased some dvd classes and needed it to work with her mac book. This works well and I will be purchasing one for her sister to use with her mac book also.

Apple products are very dependable. I bought this to replace a cheap CD reader that quit working suddenly. If I had bought this first I would have saved myself money, time and a lot headache.

We bought a new Mac after our old one finally became about 10 years old and obsolete the latest generation Mac. When paired with the CD/DVD ROM drive it is perfect! we love it and will never look back.

i bought this for my brother and i think i love it more than him. its super fast..it downloads faster than my macbook pro..i love the drive and i would buy another one and would recommend this product if you have a mac without a drive..

After trying DVD drives by their competitors I was pleasantly surprised by how easy this was to use. The epitome of plug and play. Apple gets it. And, that's why my next computer purchase will be from them.

I bought this IMac and added the SuperDrive and it turned my opinion around. This drive works flawlessly to add cds to your library and download software.

The DVD drive is compact and small but it needs an eject button on it. I would have preferred it to be part of the actual Mac desk top. It should have been part of the package. I was told that it was when I purchased the Mac.

Apple iMac does not come with internal drive. Had to purchase this. Apple is getting cheap. IAc over 2000 with no internal cd. Drive is good works great and does not take up room.

Super is the device works without a problem.I have had this drive for a month and have had no problems with it on my Mac Pro. The only thing I also agree with those who have expressed concern regarding the lack of a good old fashioned disk ejection mechanism.

Love this SuperDrive. I bought a Mac, and need access to music CDs. Quick to hook up, ripped music from 10 CD's in 45 minutes. Will buy again if I need to.

Apple - SuperDrive 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Silver. This is great to have because Apple doesn't have a drive on the MacBook.

Wonderful product that my son needed for school. Even works with my iPad. Compact to bring wherever we go. Highly recommended this product.

I looked at a lot of CD writers before selecting this one. At first I thought "any CD writer will work", but the more I read, the more I was convinced that I really wanted and needed a quality device. If you have an older computer with a built-in superdrive, you will NOT be able to install this. Now that computers are made without CD writers, this was a commodity I cannot live without. I am really glad that I stuck with an Apple on this; they are expensive, but well made, and this drive has done everything that I want it to do. Highly recommended.
