Just What I Needed

I don't use a lot of cd's or dvd's so this is a great choice because I can use it on the few times I want to or need to download something. It's small light and easy to use. Just plug an play.

Apple External Disk Drive

However, I really wish it could do Blu Ray as well. Doesn't make sense in this day and age that apple doesn't have that option. Anyway, this device looks good and works as advertised!

Replacing an internal drive

Excellent Product

I didn't realize until I got my computer how that I didn't have a drive built in so I could play DVDs or CDs, buying this fixed that issue. Works great!

I decided to give it a try and go to buy it, but I took my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 with me to the store, a CD and a DVD movie to test the Super Drive there immediately after purchasing it ( and save the inconvenience of having to go back to return it to the store if I had issues). The Apple rep at Best Buy plug the drive in, answer the few questions for the setup (European DVD format is different to US and the SuperDrive is a global product), we put the DVD into the drive and my Mac immediately recognized the device and went through the motions to play the movie.

If you have a Mac, you really should have this one

At first I thought "any CD writer will work", but the more I read, the more I was convinced that I really wanted and needed a quality device. If you have an older computer with a built-in superdrive, you will NOT be able to install this. Now that computers are made without CD writers, this was a commodity I cannot live without. I am really glad that I stuck with an Apple on this; they are expensive, but well made, and this drive has done everything that I want it to do. Highly recommended.
