Good but not great
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The remote control is great and much better than previous versions, but it scratches very easily. I like the interface of Apple TV, but I've had quite a few instances where it's unresponsive. I've also experienced the YouTube app not functioning for no reason on a few occasions. Other than that, it's solid.

Great remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything is the same. But the remote is so good and definitely easier to use and find than the previous one. It does seem a bit quicker than the previous version.

Great addition to any TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The interface is snappy and fluid. Honestly I was a little skeptical spending over $100 on a streaming box when the chrome cast does the same thing, however I have a chrome cast and the Apple TV 4K blows it out of the water. It’s more responsive and just feels premium. Apple TV also streams at a higher bitrate so movies and TV shows will look sharper and more detailed. This Apple TV would make a great addition to any TV. I also find the Apple interface easier and more intuitive to use compared to Samsungs Tizen

Issues:(
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not happy with this purchase:( I have been wanting an Apple TV for a long time! This one was on sale for a great deal, but I’ve had issue after issue with it. Apple support recommended serval things to try, I have tried them all. I bought a newer, higher speed 4k HDMI cable because I thought that might solve the blacking out and loss of audio and video black out and remote disconnection. But it didn’t help:( It’s not my tv, it’s a brand new Samsung 4k.:( I think I just got a lemon. It has unfortunately made me regret my purchase and I will not buy another one:( I was really looking forward to this because of my visual limitations and college lab/lectures would’ve been easier to see. I have all Apple products, so the airplay, Bluetooth, and connections between devices were what I was really looking forward to:( But I’ve had nothing but trouble:( The apps that have no lag on any other streaming stick/device, have lag on this Apple TV. You watch a lot of YouTube, don’t buy this!!!! YouTube is the biggest struggle!!!!! Blacking out, lagging….

Good, but sorta lame. :/
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is great. Works really well, very responsive. The only let down is the fact that movies/shows you buy through iTunes cannot be played while offline. You *have* to be connected to a network. I was under the impression all that memory space was to store purchased media for moments where you find yourself without internet.

If you have an old TV, then you need this!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up on sale recently, and I now get why people rave about Apple TV. I have an old Sharp Aquos 60inch TV that I purchased back in 2014, and this device has given that TV a major upgrade. If you are already in the Apple ecosystem, then you can get this up and running within minutes. I got this device on sale, but had I paid full price, I wouldn't be mad about it. If you have an old tv and don't want to purchase a new one, just get an Apple TV. It's an instant upgrade.

Additional capabilities for LG tv.

An improvement but....
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I got my apple tv on sale and up to that point wasn't willing to shell out $180. Seeing as this at least to me wasn't a huge upgrade as compared to the previous generation. You have to be ok with paying a premium price in contrast to say the Firestick or Roku's various streaming devices. Is it worth it if you already have other Apple devices? Yes. Is there a huge difference from the previous generation? No. Is the price tag to much to ask for minimal upgrade? Yes. Really the only way I would suggest this to someone who isn't really into the Apple ecosphere is for you to get it on sale. Heck if you have the previous generation I would still say wait for it to go on sale. Overall I do enjoy my Apple tv and love the new remote much more than the previous version. I'd say if your new to streaming devices and wanna dip your toes into streaming it wouldn't hurt if you went with something like Roku which is much cheaper and isn't much of a drop off from the streaming quality.

Still the best smart TV option, but expensive.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Apple TV to replace my aging unit (the "non-4K" one, that accompanied the launch of the actual 4K version.) What an upgrade! The older unit was still receiving software updates and running acceptably enough, but this new model runs laps around it. While I have not yet played any Apple Arcade games on it, any other app I've thrown at it launches right away with no fuss. App availability is excellent, as Apple TV continues to be the most robust smart TV option out there. It acts as a HomeKit hub, allowing you to automate your smart devices, and also control them when you are away from your local wifi network. The remote is a welcome upgrade, but maybe a bit overblown. The switch from a square trackpad which lacked tactile feedback to a fully-curved trackpad/D-pad hybrid is great. Both pieces form as one when being used as a trackpad, and the outer diameter of the circle can be used to "scrub" through the timeline of whatever you're watching/listening to. However, this requires support on behalf of the app developer -- they must use tvOS' built-in playback software to utilize this feature. Many developers haven't updated their apps for this, yet (if at all!) Of special note is the addition of a physical power button. Not that putting the Apple TV to sleep before was terribly complicated, but this is much faster and more intuitive. Bonus points go to the HDMI-CEC compatibility; combined with my compatible TV and receiver, turning everything on or off is now done with a single button press. The Apple TV remote truly has replaced any and all other remotes in my living room. It charges via Lightning (still, yes, I know) but lasts about a hundred years on a single charge. Not too much else to say. tvOS has not changed much over the years, and neither has the Apple TV's (outward-facing) hardware. The build quality of both the Apple TV itself and the remote are class-leading. The price is certainly high when compared to the competition, but I tend to justify it with Apple products due to their reputation for build quality, generous warranty and local service via an Apple Store, and general ease of use. Of course, all the "walled garden" stuff also applies here. The more Apple services and devices you use, the more valuable this little box becomes. Your (other Apple device)'s screen can be mirrored to your TV in near realtime. You can browse your iCloud Photo Library or use them as screen savers. Apple Music with FLAC playback for your coveted home theater sound system. Have your own HTPC? VLC is fully supported. You can opt to output audio to any HomePods or AirPods you may own. The aforementioned HomeKit hub factor, which is a must, for me.
