The best
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our 3rd Apple TV we are adding to our home. We love the quality and seem less process to connect all our Apple products. Highly recommended it to anyone with Apple products even if you have a smart TV this product just makes it so much better. Not only can you connect your surround sound and TV it has so many great features. You can play your iTunes music, look at your pictures on the big screen, mirroring is also great. The list goes on and on. No complaints.

A Love-Hate Relationship
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although The Apple TV easily outperforms its cheaper competitors, trying to operate it can drive you nuts. First, here are the good points. Streaming is fast and flawless. The picture is gorgeous, and the glitches that pervade other streaming devices are conspicuously absent. There is no input lag with the remote; no audio dropout regardless of your wireless network; and, as long as your network is reasonably fast, there are no buffering issues. The Apple TV works the way that all streaming devices should work. However, it's the little things that get under your skin. Let's overlook the fact that it costs about twice as much as its priciest competitor. If you buy Apple products, you expect to overpay. However, why Apple doesn't even offer a web browser app as an option is beyond me. If you want to stream content from a provider that doesn't have a dedicated Apple app, you are just out of luck. The absence of a web browser isn't necessarily a deal-killer, but including one would have been so simple and inexpensive. It just seems that there is no justification for creating this conflict. The absolute worst thing about this generation of Apple TVs is the remote. It is far and away the worst one that I have ever used, and it is difficult to imagine that human beings tested it and concluded that it worked well and was what people would like. Like most Apple remotes, this one is too small, making it slippery and difficult to even hold. However, its worst design element is the touchpad that replaces the traditional arrows with an "Enter" button in the middle. Trying to get the cursor to lock in on the icon or alphanumeric character that you want is an exercise in futility. The cursor seems to stubbornly adhere to an adjacent icon, and when you finally get it to move, it jumps over the icon you wanted and sticks to another adjacent icon. When you finally get it on the icon you wanted, pressing the touchpad to accept your selection will often cause the cursor to move off the icon it was on, thereby accepting a nearby one that you did not want, forcing you to delete that entry and try again. Trying to type in a search or enter a password takes 2 -3 times as long on the Apple TV as it does on my Amazon Fire TV, and by the time I've completed this arduous task, I often find that I've lost all desire to watch anything on this infuriating device. Apple seems to have realized after the fact that buyers were displeased with this remote, as evidenced by the fact that it has been modified on the latest versions of this device. I also notice that they have not offered to replace this garbage remote with a more user-friendly version for those of us who purchased this generation device. The good news is that there is no reason to put yourself through this frustration. The new version of Apple TV is now available, and it only costs $20 more. Buying this older model is false economy and will make you rue your decision. Just pay the extra $20 for the new version. You'll be so glad that you did.

Works seamlessly in Mac/iOS environment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want to send Mac OS or iOS content from one of your devices to your TV, the Apple TV is simply the easiest, most effective way to do it. This includes not only media files on your devices but any kind of screen sharing you want to do like show your Photos or even desktop activity. If you have movies and music in your iTunes account that you want to stream to your TV, again, the Apple TV is the best way. And if you use Netflix, Vudu, or any number of streaming services or TV channels, Apple TV is a great source for that.

Amazing 4K quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own the original Apple TV and upgraded to the 4K model since I own a large 4K tv. The picture quality is amazing and I can tell an immediate difference between 1080 and 4K. Happy I bought this

Apple TV works great
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used this to replace another brand’s product because Hulu kept acting up on us. I plugged it in, went through the easy setup and everything worked. No more issues with Hulu or any other streaming media since. Very happy with the result. Only drawback is the remote. I would have preferred the new style one but not willing to pay the price difference, and my tv remote works fine for most of what we want to do.

The standard of streaming platforms
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the streaming box by which all others compare themselves to. Brilliant 4K, hdr, seamless remote interface with tv, receiver, sound bar. Apps, quick response, complete iTunes integration. Airplay. It just works. And it’s brilliant. Yes - it’s expensive. And it’s shocking that at 3/4 years old now, the price hasn’t dropped. And I miss the optical audio out. But compare to the rest out there - this is the best and it isn’t even close.

Best Streaming Device for TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best streaming device for watching tv online with no cords. Snappy interface, great at picking up WiFi signal in the farthest reaches and no buffering. Only drawback is remote. Using the glass touch pad for FFWD and RWD is a little bit of work. Although it does have 10sec. skip so that’s a ++. A side note is this is the best device for the Direct TV Now service. You may think Direct TV Now is broken on a Roku stick but as soon as you fire up Direct TV Now on Apple TV 4K it works amazingly. Also Netflix is crazy good on this device.

Great xmas gift
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son suggested this as a Christmas gift, so after reading the reviews on the item which said that it was a great item to have, we decided to get this for him instead of another gift which didn't seem to be that great. I'm sure he will enjoy this.

Good but needs improvement
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Speed-Great, Quality-Fast. Siri responses- Very good. With all that said there are a few areas needing improvement. The remote is either very sensitive or nor sensitive enough. Even though I put it to sleep every night it still needs a reboot where you unplug the Apple TV to be responsive.

Best model yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 4K is a doozy, every week a movie from my library is converted to 4K free of charge. Not having to repurchase movies I own to enjoy them in 4K has saved me a ton of money and has made me an even bigger fan of Apple products and their services.

Love apple products
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The apple tv 4k is everything it says it is. If you like apple you will like this. The biggest add-on to the apple tv other than the 4k is they put a ring around the menu button to help with knowing which button is which when you are in the dark.

You won’t be sorry!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a whole new world. We had been using our 2nd generation AppleTV for years. The AppleTV4k was like waking up from a coma. We also love the “Siri” option, even though we weren’t too keen on the idea before trying it. GO AHEAD..BUY AND ENJOY!

For Apple Lovers
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an Apple guy. I used this to replace an old outdated fire stick and my TV's LG operating system. With this Apple TV 4k, I can play games, tunes and watch all of my shows in high quality 4k! It really is incredible. The use is easy. You can control it from your phone. It is expensive, but Apple is expensive in general. I do love it though.

Just LOVE this!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Apple TV 4K device purchase. We love how it works so well with our 4K TV and makes the picture sparkle. We love how snappy and responsive the processor is. And the raised white highlight around the "Menu" button is an excellent upgrade compared to the previous HD remote. To me, the most compelling reason to go with the HD version would be if one does not own a 4K TV. Otherwise, the additional $30 for the 4K upgrade is well worth it.

Love....
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The newest generation Apple TV replacing the oldest generation Roku--YIKES! This wonderful tech offers super easy set-up, functionality, and usage. The remote can be a little touchy compared to the older generation Apple TV remote (we own two first generation Apple TV's, too) but is so easy and quick to use. The voice command rocks! We are an Apple family and we liked this so much we bought a second one for another television. We just can't get enough!

Excellent video quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kind of pricey, but a very good streaming device. The 4K Dolby Vision video quality is excellent. The onscreen keyboard, where all letters are laid out in a single line, is kind of annoying, but if you sync your iPhone up you can use that to type your searches in. Would prefer some more buttons on the remote to make it easier to back up a little bit; in this case, Apple's tendency for minimalism works against the remote's ease of use.
