On the surface it might seem too expensive, but it's actually not a bad value if you have a lot of iTunes movies, because they will be automatically updated to 4k if there is a 4k version available. With other services you'd have to pay extra to get the 4k version. If you don't have a 4k tv and don't plan on getting one soon, don't buy this

This is a great step up from 1080p previous generations Apple tv, things to note. You must watch movies at 4k HDR with 24KHZ playback otherwise the refresh rate is off only draw back is the menu becomes sluggish. the betas are addressing this but right now not at 100%. the picture quality on the other hand is very close to my 4k blurry player.

The Apple 4K TV is easy to set up and use. With access to the App Store, I can download many free apps that give me access to HBO, Sowtime, Amazon Prime video and many other providers. This coupled with my personal DVD and BluRay collection which has been ripped to my NAS, I can watch all of my movies by just selecting them on the Apple TV.

I love my 4K Apple TV. Seamless transition from old unit. Great picture and sound quality. Expanding list of available Apps/services. No-brainer for those in the Apple eco-system

Great addition to the home threater. Provides access to my library of movies and plays them in 4K if available . Unit pays for itself by saving me money on buying 4K disc movies

This was a great addition to my Apple household. Upscaling of HD movies to 4K on my 4K tv looks fabulous. Definite improvement over 3rd gen Apple TV rebooting constantly as well.

If you think 4K is marketing hype - it is truly not. So co that Apple auto upgrades your content to 4K. I find myself searching for shows just in 4K to marvel at the difference!

I've had previous Apple TV's and I didn't realize how much better the 4K was until I hooked it up to my TV. A total night and day difference! It's totally worth the investment!

There are many reviews of this product already so what can I add that has not already been said. It is Apple, it is quality, and works like it should. I love it. Video and sound quality are excellent. Expensive yes, but worth it! One subject I have not seen addressed in a review is in the area of the built-in video player itself. It is Awesome! This is the first video streamer I have used (I only have experience with Android players, my Nvidia Shield and my Sony TV's built in streamer) that actually works like a proper video player should. The FF and RW are actually usable. It is possible to find your way within a movie to nearly the exact second of elapsed time you are looking for. Try that with Android TV, I am lucky to get within five minutes of a certain time. Sometimes if I put a movie on pause with my Android devices when I come back say 5 minutes later it may have stopped playing the movie altogether and I am left navigating my way back to what I was watching. Not to name names but the A.P. player is simply awful on Android. With this Apple streamer I have put movies on hold and come back even an hour later and find it to be just where I left it. Bravo Apple!! The Apple TV 4k is worth it to me just for this alone. With all its other outstanding features it is for sure a keeper.

Apple TV 4K has everything you need in a streaming device. From the simple set up using an iPhone to the integration with all Apple products. The new revised remote is a pleasure to work with and is clearly a step up from the old version. I can’t think of one bad thing to say outside of it is a little pricey. But what do you expect it to Apple. Overall great device and just about worth the money.

Up till now I had an Apple TV generation 1...I had NO IDEA how much more the new ones do!! It’s been a WOW experience for me and I’m sure wondering why I didn’t upgrade earlier!

It's an Apple product, of course it works right out of the box. My smart TV was not able to load new apps, and my older Apple TV well, was old. I upgraded to the 4K model, added a couple of new apps to the new Apple TV box, and all went smoothly. I regularly use Apple Air Play, perfect performance.

I just purchased my 7th Apple TV, not because any of them broke, although technically, I had 2 of the original version. I have them on 4 TVs at my house, even though 3 of them are smart TVs, and each of my 3 college kids have one in their respective cities. We store all of our families movies in the Apple Cloud and we can all watch from our respective 4 cities and 3 states. It makes me feel better about spending money on movies, as we can all watch as many times as we like. We do try to buy the movies on sale and/or use Itunes cards we buy on sale to buy the movies. If you don't have a smart TV, you can get tons of streaming apps, games, and more. The kids use their iphones as a remote control. I use the remote that comes with the device. No HDMI cord comes with, but you need 1. You do get a lightning to USB, which is used to charge the remote. In my opinion, 32G, 4K is all I need, as 64 is overkill for what I do most, streaming. It's Apple, which is why I suppose these are a little pricey. I've never tried any of the competitors for streaming and probably never will as like I said, we use Apple for movie storage.

Works well. Easy to use. Pricey but you get what you pay for.

I had the previous generation Apple TV and already thought it was fantastic, but the picture on this one with my 4k Samsung TV is phenomenal! Love the new wallpapers as well!

The Apple TV 4K is a phenomenal over-the-top (OTT) media streaming device. Though many will say all streamers are the same, the fact of the matter is the ATV4K's hardware far exceeds the speed and UX of every competitor, save possibly the nVidia Shield Pro. I own the Chromecast Ultra, Roku Premiere and Firestick 4K, but none of them have the snappy response and sheer power to keep up with this device. Moreover, it supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and, when connected to Movies Anywhere, will allow you to unlock iTunes Extras on your movie library (amazing feature that mimics the menu structure of physical discs to allow you to explore bonus content on movies like behind the scenes featurettes or making-of content). I have purchased three of these so far and will continue to do so until Apple demonstrably upgrades the hardware (the ATV4K 2021 has, more or less, the same SOC as this unit). If anything, buy the new Siri Remote and pair it with one of these for the best of both worlds.

I had a third-gen AppleTV since 2012 and was quite happy with it. Now that I have a 4K tv, I wanted to upgrade to the latest AppleTV with 4K capabilities so I purchased one just yesterday. Like all Apple products, setup was a breeze and using my iphone took less than 10 mins to setup and upgrade the software to the latest version. During setup, I selected the option of being a Fios subscriber. Once the setup was complete, the TV app had all the apps/channels that Fios allows me to view on AppleTV. The only other apps I installed were Youtube, Prime Video and Netflix. And voila! The first thing I noticed right off the bat was how much clearer the iconography and text was on my 4K tv. 4K videos on youtube and Prime look incredible and the Dolby sound comes through a lot better than the previous gen Apple TV. The "aerial" screensavers displays aerial (naturally!) view of major cities in the world like Dubai, NY, etc. and are gorgeous. It was so engaging that I couldn't turn away from the screensaver for a few mins. Next, the integration with iTunes, Apple Music, Photos, Videos, and the ability to Airplay content from my iphone and macbook pro are awesome. All my content was available right away. Like it or not, Apple knows how to do products right. They are masters at providing a seamless user experience. Of course, it's not all 100% perfect but it's better than most other companies.

Just what she needed to complement her I-Pad and I-Phone and improve her utilization of streaming movies and using other apps. She is pleased and impressed with the device.

Great upgrade over the older Apple TV models. 4K and HDR picture is fantastic. Be sure you have a high enough bandwidth though, if not it will downscale the content to 1080!
