    First off, I love everything apple. But they failed miserably with this one. The hdmi is spotty at best, the usb can’t identfiy my 4Tb external hd, and the cable makes it susceptible to easy damage carrying it around all the time. Makes it very difficult to find it worth the price for an Apple product. There are much better adapters out there

    I bought this with my brand new 2017 MacBook Pro so that I would have a couple of adapters if needed. I haven't had any problems with it, but for the price I feel like it should have another port or two. Regardless, it does it's job. One thing I tried which I was hoping would work is to use it in the opposite direction. So, you're supposed to plug the Thunderbolt 3 end of the adapter into your Mac, and then you can plug in a USB-A, HDMI and another TB3 cable on the other side. This works great. I was hoping, though, that I could plug the adapter into my power brick and then run a cable to my computer to use it more like a dock and keep the adapter hidden away. This doesn't work. It seemed to power my laptop, but the HDMI and USB stopped working. I could work around it by getting a long USB-C extension cable, but I'm probably going to buy a dock soon, so it's not worth messing with it. Just an observation to pass along.
