    Excellent Adapter

I purchased this adapter for use with a 2016 12" MacBook, a computer with only 1 USB-C port. While using an adapter is less than optimal, there is a tradeoff for such a lightweight and portable computer. I purchased this adapter to connect a video projector and charge the computer at the same time and it works great! Very well made in typical Apple fashion, easy to use, and worked the very first time. I recommend this adapter if need to connect multiple peripherals to your MacBook computer.

If you purchase a second 87W power adapter for your new Mac Book Pro, be warned that it does NOT include an additional USB-C cable like this in the box. Therefore, you'll need to pay another $20 for that separately. Several people I know ended up buying the adapter, only to get home and realize that without an included USB-C cable, they purchased an incomplete charger. So you'll need to buy at least 1 more of these to satisfy that need. The cable works as expected so it gets 5 stars.

It works! - after some firmware updates

If you want to use the HDMI output from this device on a Windows PC, you may have to go to the manufacturer's website and look for any updates for serial IO, or USB, or any hardware that might be related to USB-C. I bought this for use on a brand new, top of the line Dell XPS 13. The PC didn't alert me that it needed any updates, but I had to go to the Dell support website and install several firmware updates before this adapter would output video over HDMI. After that it worked great! I haven't used either of the other ports (USB and charging). I'm sure it works on a Mac straight out of the package.

I love this adapter. I wish Apple would stop making it so hard to use their products. The new iPhones that require the headphone adapter dongle thing, now the MacBooks. Anyway this is ESSENTIAL for MacBook functions. I love that I can hook up to a display like my TV. Also this includes a USB input so you can plug in your lightning cable for your phone to connect with iTunes. Overall, this is a must-buy. I don't use it every day but it's a nice thing to have when you need it :)

When you have 2 toddlers, zero sense of technology or understanding but need to figure it out; the easier, quickest and cheapest way is so appreciated with my Family! I am able to upload IPOD, IPAD AND IPHONE 6s to new MacBook in seconds.. also, when on the go, with adaptor, I can charge laptop in the car, hotel etc, and bring the one plug for charging all my devices. Never have I had this luxury when I had a vaio or other laptops that were not Apple.

Great Audio Video transfer for new Apple iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, NEW iPad Pro 11” and 12.5”. Does the exact thing Apple TV does but for the fraction of the price. Your device gets connected to the AV Apple AV Adapter, and adapter gets connected to your tv via HDMI plus device gets connected to your charger that in turn gets connected to your wall socket. Therefore, even your device gets charged simultaneously too.

It does works well if you are using 1 adapter on New Mac book pro 2017. If you try to use the 2 to connect to 2 monitors it will not work. This adapter is bit expensive than other brands.

No real issues but in just a little under a month I have had to unplug it and plug it in to get the 2nd monitor to be recognized about 2-3 times. No issues after that. This has only happened after the computer went to sleep. I wish I didn't need to buy this after updating my Mac but upgrades require upgrade and it does the job. I'm still not clear if I will get a 4K signal on a 4K Tv with this item. At this time my mac is not hooked up to a 4K tv so it's not an issue yet.

It's n adapter. I needed it to hook up a monitor real quick for a presentation test and it worked flawlessly. It has HDMI, USB - A, and a USB - C connection. Handy to have around as the new MacBook Pro only has USB - C connections. You can use conventional USBs with it. Overall a good product. Being an Apple product, the price tag is high, but, better to get something you know will work.

    A must-have for a 12" MacBook

We recently purchased a 12" MacBook which is a superb blend of the lightweight MacBook Air and the Retina display of a MacBook Pro. For all of its positives, this machine only has a single USB-C port, so to get the most out of the MacBook you need one of these adapters. It's unobtrusive and easy to use, and turns the MacBook a versatile multimedia device. If you're considering a 12" MacBook, you definitely need one of these adapters to go with it.

Although I wish Apple considered simply adding the USB and HDMI ports on their MacBook, I felt it was a small price to pay to get the ease of use and the power/features of the MacBook for my daughter's college. The adapter works without any flaws, the only problem being you have to remember to carry it with the MacBook and more importantly not lose it. If you are buying a MacBook for more than surfing the web, this accessory is a must.

I can't complain from an apple product for my MBPr, compatible of course and works great although all I needed was the USB port I decided to buy this one just in case. I just think the price is a little ridiculous at 70 bucks and even I had cheaper options from different brands I don't really like mixing brands as I always want my stuff to work properly and not having issues with compatibility or affecting performance.

I'm a firm believer that Apple's cables and dongles are much better made than most. However, I have had issues with mine shorting out and had to replace. I think due to having to bend the dongle to angle towards my HDMI input. I wish Apple would have kept the SD card slot and HDMI on the new MacBook Pro. I think wireless is the future and love the simplicity of USB-C interface (it is superior). But the rest of the world hasn't caught up. For now, it's an unfortunate necessity.

I purchased this device for the 2016 MacBook Pro. Wish Apple would have retained a standard USB and HDMI port instead of having to purchase this $80 dongle. I read a few bad reviews about this adapter but mine worked perfectly. The trick was to wait for a few minutes after first plugging it in so the updated driver could install. With this adapter I am able to use an HDMI monitor, USB adapter, keyboard and mouse all at the same time.

Works perfectly with our new MacBook Air 2018 to provide HDMI, USB-C for charging, and standard USB. This dongle allows you to charge, connect to an external display, and connect your iPhone to your laptop all at once while still leaving one USB-C port open on the laptop itself. It's expensive but typical Apple high quality build. It's worked flawlessly for us so far. Highly recommend!

My salesman was very helpful at Best Buy in directing me towards this product I got the new 13 inch MacBook Pro with the thumbprint technology but it needed this adapter to hook up to my projector for art slides. There is a USB so I could charge my phone and connect that to my iTunes account for a iPhone sync. I would highly recommend this product and any other Apple products just simplified and to the point when doing work.

This adapter, as with all Apple products, is overpriced. "Forward thinking" Apple, with their newer laptops, has made it a requirement to purchase this, or a number of similar items, if you want to utilize any external devices. Overall, the adapter meets expectations. I am able to easily add or remove HDMI monitors or any USB device. With just my monitor plugged in the device can get rather warm. Not burning, but you will certainly be aware if you touch it. The short cord on this adapter makes it much less flexible than I would like, and, while not an issue yet, raises concerns on longevity. The bulkiness of it, and the fact that I have my monitor attached, require me to remove it whenever I leave my workstation. It is easy to overlook any plugged in USB devices, thus I often get the "Disk Not Ejected Properly" notification. I may acquire a smaller version that handles a specific device type to avoid such things.

Since my iPhone 6+ and my iPad Air 2, I don't buy "after market" cables or peripherals any more. Anything can be made cheaper but if they don't work why bother. Genuine Apple accessories always work as described which is what you want an item to do perform, right? Stick with Apple peripherals overtime, I do! This item is the bridge between the USB on my old Mac and the fire connector on my new MacBook Pro.

C port does not connect to anything so you need an adapter. This one has 3 different ports so does the job. It is bulky and does not fit in any of the 12 inch sleeves without a pocket. I purchased an iPad pro case that had a pocket, because there are no 12 inch cases with pockets, and keep the adapter in the outside pocket. It makes it bulky but when you need to connect, there is nothing you can do. Bought a lightning pin to C port connector too for when I know the only thing I need to connect is iPhone.
