Wish I didn't need them, but if it helps in the never ending drive to make machines smaller and lighter so be it.

Easy connection but expensive. Apple made sure you spend extra by changing their ports.

Works fine, but I hate carrying around a dongle that's twice as thick as the computer itself. I'd rather have adapters to put on video cables, usb cords etc. rather than this big thing.

This is pretty expensive to just be an adapter. But it's what you have to have with the Macbook is you need a VGA connection.
