    I think the full retail price of this is pretty high for what it does but I've also used third party (Startech, etc) ones and they simply do not work as reliably as this one from Apple.

    Is what it is!!! The Apple cord you need to hook up another monitor that has VGA ( my new HP monitor was VGA)

    Many people have a second monitor. With a MacBook we need USB-C and the adapters are just getting to be more flexible. This is a 3 port adapter and the monitor required a VGA port. Now with the benefit of having three ports, I can expand my connections even more. VGA was a plug and play. Easy to apply and the second monitor is working great.

    The adapter is necessary for new MacBook. It's annoying to have an extra accessory to carry around but worth it for having such a light weight Mac. The porrt is tight on the usb but does the job.
