Interesting tale about how it could play out if alien beings ever visited earth.

I waited for this movie to come out on disc and was not disappointed. It was different in most part but it is a movie that you need to watch all of the way through. It did have the usual military type of action, shoot and kill first and interrogate who is left..But I definitely suggest getting it and I plan on watching the extras which will help understand the language of the movie.

I would highly reccomend this movie to anybody. 5 stars

Okay, let's start by saying it won a few awards for special effects and sound. Acting was solid, but not over the top fantastic. The story was not entirely original, but rather a light combination of elements from ET, Contact, and a few others. However, it was directed and edited very well. It makes you think and thus, it was entertaining Science Fiction.

I bought this movie, more out of curiosity?.. Because it was advertised as having the most unusual ending of any movie! And while I can't say that was the case.. It was a really intriguing movie! I found myself totally enthralled!... It is the kind of movie that you have to go back and watch again. Sooner rather than later! A very well done movie!

I read the reviews, but was surprised by the story line. My friend and I were excited to see Arrival was out on DVD, but expected something different. It seemed to move slowly with many flash backs, but did have a surprise ending. I think I will have to watch it a second time to fully understand it.

This movie attempted to hit a different spot among movies made re visiting creatures from other planets. The human challenge to communicate with such unknown quantities reminded me of our awkwardness in dealing with people from different cultures as ours. That was the best part about this movie.

my daughter and i watched together. the movie was good but seemed to us to be very slow. you dont realize whats going on until the end. may watch again to see things that i probably missed the first time around. had to explain alot to my 14 year old.

The stars, director and all connected to this movie did a really good job of keeping this viewer interested and in suspense through the length of the flick! I know you'll be pleased with your purchase also!

The special effects were outstanding. The plot was weak, but not a lot you could do with the situation. Maybe more people waking or kids. Due to the special effects I would recommend it my fronds.

I liked the movie though it took me to the end to understand what was going on between the story, the male star, and her child. In fact, once I got the idea, it was fun to watch it a second time.

this is a pretty deep and philosophical movie much like 2001 space odyssey. i liked it but its not the type of movie you'd want to share with the gang. i think its just to deep for most people.

Not as good as the reviews. I liked the idea of a linguist cracking the code that would facilitate communication with an alien species. Too many holes in this story. Good acting.

This is a good action packed drama/thriller/Sci-Fi movie. Makes one think, imagine and wonder in amazement. Surely worth giving it a good hard look at.

Although Arrival was a bit off the mark with it's depiction of timelines and the breaking down the aliens language, it was still a worthwhile watch.

Good movie but very slow. Not much action. Not what I expected. This movie intends to make you think of what 'could be!' Somewhat disappointed.

I liked it a lot. It wasn't really action packed or anything, but it kept me wondering what would happen next. Might be a bit slow at times, but still definitely worth watching. Certainly a new take on 'first contact' and how that would possibly play out. I mean, assuming we didn't immediately destroy any alien visitors the second they arrived.

i enjoyed this movie. it was quite different from what i expected but in a good way. definitely would recommend it.

It was a good movie, but the plot wasn't as great as I thought it would be, I was hoping for more plot and action.

Seemed like it was building up to a great plot but fell short about 3/4 through. It did make me think of how it might be extremely difficult to communicate with a new alien species that does not use words but instead uses symbols. But the whole movie was focused on that one concept and did not go much beyond to build the overall plot. Still, good acting and a unique film.
