Arrival may have looked like a hundred other "aliens come to Earth" films but this is done so much better. Excellent story and cast; and it's no wonder the film was nominated for so many academy awards. The Blu Ray version of the film looks very sharp and sounds great. The film originally has more muted colors and less saturation so don't expect the poppy colors from most films.

The soundtrack is excellent in this blu-ray transfer. The bass really excels in moments and the soundtrack accentuates the dialogue. The colors are vibrant. There are several dark scenes that I recall were hard to make out. But, if you view in a darker room, you shouldn't have a problem. Lower the lights on this one. But, the acting and story is excellent...worthy of the best picture nomination.

The films of Denis Villeneuve are usually more engaging and enjoyable on the big screen, but this Blu-ray release of “Arrival” still has pristine enough quality to be thrilling on a smaller HDTV. Good picture and audio quality, as well as the fact that the film is pretty darn good, make this worth a watch.

This movie was interesting to some extent. It had it's moments, but, at times it felt like I was watching a "chick flick". This movie is very gloom n" doom. Even the photography in this movie is drab and dark, I guess it is what it is and that was the intent, but it doesn't stand up to repeat viewing. Oh well.

Didn't get a chance to watch this movie in the theaters. Grabbed it on sale... watched it at home and I regret not seeing it in theaters. This movie is great. If you are into Sci-fi & drama this is right up your alley. Its going to make you feel something. You may not like it... but you will appreciate that this movie did it... its what movies are suppose to do... make you feel something.

Good story with great message about the importance of communication, this was driving the movie to It's end. You really need to pay attention to the details and when the ending comes you will be taken back to parts of the film that maybe didn't make sense but now It does. Amy Adams was really good in this movie as she continues to be a face we will continue to see on the big screen!

My wife and I saw this movie when it was released in the theaters. I found it totally enjoyable however my wife had mixed feelings. None the less, i purchased the movie on blu-ray the day it was released and watched it that evening. The second time around I found it even more enjoyably. I can completely understand why it was nominated for several Academy Awards. A must see in my opinion.

It was alright- good for family night if you like Sci-Si stuff.

The transfer from 1080 to 4K was nice, the Atmos mix was fabulous...the film however was meh. If you’re a physical media collector, the Blu-ray on this would work, but not necessary for a 4K upgrade. If you never owned it at all, and can catch a sale, go for it.

I liked the slow burn of the movie, not so slow I lost interest, but also not an action/thriller with 127 plot turns and camera work that makes you believe the cameraman is constantly just shaking the camera. Some of the visuals were pretty neat and different but I am not sure the 4K version makes anything look better for this movie. The Blu-Ray seemed to be just about the same as 4K.

This has become one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time. It's different, unique story telling and without giving away too much plot, it's nice to see aliens engage humanity in a different way than in most movies. As far as the 4k quality, top notch. Using Samsung 4k player and Sony Bravia without any of the software "helpers" built it. That X1 chip is amazing technology.

This movie shows that thoughtful science fiction is still possible. The movie is dark and murky befitting its mood and HDR and a well calibrated higher end 4k display is warranted. Too bad the studio didn't go the extra mile and add 12 bit Dolby Vision encoding and Dolby Atmos immersive audio.

This movie about contact with extraterrestrial encounter is very well acted and exciting. The movie was slow but I was excited to find out how the encounter would unfold and how it will be received. Very intelligent and gripping movie that I enjoyed thoroughly. If you liked Interstellar you'll like this movie also.

If you are going into Arrival expecting a typical alien invasion movie, you may want to temper your expectations. Instead, what you will get is a very heady existential drama about the plight of man when confronted with the reality of extraterrestrial life. A topical story given the current sociopolitical environment in the world right now. Great packing and features.

Decent movie, kind of reminds me of Contact with Jodi Foster, if you liked it you would probably like this movie. I figured out kind of what was happening to Amy Adams character half way through but I don't know if I missed something or if there is a small plot hole, POSSIBLE SPOILER, I don't want to give too much of anything away but I guess I didn't get how they were supposed to save humanity at the end. Maybe it was supposed to bring everyone together or the whole future thing I don't know but if you like science fiction and liked Contact and similar stories then you should like this. Again it was ok I will it watch again later on and see if I missed something but even if I didn't I don't feel like I wasted my money, and believe me I have wasted money on way worse movies.

Master filmmaker Denis Villaneuve takes a more scientific and philosophical approach with this film. Pacing, acting, cinematography and all around themes of this film are stunning. Definitely not for the viewer looking for the typical action packed sci fi action flick. But a refreshing take with good payoff if you can stand a film without a CGI explosion every 10 minutes.

I enjoyed this movie. The concept of language is quite interesting. The time aspect is creative as well. It's not an action movie, so don't expect people to be running around flipping, shooting and cussing every 30 seconds. This movie is for people whose entertainment includes actual thought.

I remember watching this movie when it came out and I ended a little confused at the ending, I wanted to watch it again to find the missing dots and I founded it at BB for the lowest price ever. I did watch it twice already and I love it. Great plot, excellent actors, awesome movie.

I think that "Arrival" was one of the greatest sci-fi films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite sci-fi films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed this film several times and I also think that "Arrival" had a lot of entertaining, exciting and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense including an original and inspiring personal storyline.
