The review for the film its self is simple: It's great! The Blu-ray is pretty decent as well. The movie of course looks great on Blu-ray, it also has some interesting bonus features about the design of the aliens, their ships, and their language. There is no commentary tracks with this Blu-ray and this seems to be the only cover they have. But the movie is worth the purchase

Not your typical SciFi. Never thought I'd see a movie based on the Worf-Sapire hypothesis (look it up). The hero is a female linquist, and there are practically no action scenes - it is really about the nature of time and thought. If that doesn't sound interesting to you, then this is not for you. Otherwise the quality of the movie and the outstanding performance by Amy Adams should appeal to anyone who enjoys drama which happens to be ScFi

I purchased this movie for my Dad. I watched this with him, and it was a strange movie. It was the type of movie that you could not miss any of or you might get lost in where the story line takes a curve. I gave it 4 stars because while there were lots of curves in the story line the acting was really great. If you really like sci-fi movies you may find this one interesting.

This movie is great. Love the music right at the beginning. Some might feel the pacing is slow but I think it is perfect for this type of movie. Good story if you like sci-fi, and the language aspect of the film is very interesting. I think the aliens look slightly cheesy, and the film just seems very dark, I mean the actual brightness of the film is low to me for some reason.

I bought this on 4k because the cinematography was pretty stellar. It's not the best 4k viewing experience available, but it's still worth watching in this format. You could save yourself a couple bucks and just pick up the blu-ray, but if you really appreciate the coloration and vast landscapes that appear in this movie and want the full experience, then definitely get this.

Incredible movie. The quality of the 4k is superb on my Sony TV. The highlights in the movie for me are great acting, great storyline and the background score was haunting, absorbing and riveting. One of the really best science fiction movies I have seen in recent times.

I have no idea where to begin. This is a masterpiece on so many levels. Story, casting, acting, directing, SFX, original, etc., etc.,. My wife and I saw this in a theater and were blown away by this stunning piece of film making. We purchased the Blu-Ray and watched it right away and are still finding meaning to this thought provoking flick. A fantastic watch.

Overall a very good story and film which suffers a little from slow pacing and an overall gloomy presentation. I don't know that UHD adds much of anything as the film's color palette never ventures far from misty grays and gloom. Not as gripping as intended this movie is still worth a viewing.

In my opinion this film needed more punch as I thought it to be kinda boring in parts.

I’ve probably seen this 5 times, but now I have the 4K UHD version for under $10! It has that typical Denis Villeneuve grand scale and epic color/contrast and sound feel, like the new Dune. Had to have it in my library. If you have one or more big subwoofers, this will move your foundation at times.

Instead of a regular alien invasion story, Arrival is all about translation and communication. The aliens of the story aren't here to destroy all humans. This is a fresh take on a worn formula, and examines first contact from a procedural standpoint, showing the men and women (especially Amy Adams, who provides the standout performance) who attempt to understand the alien's complicated language. Exciting, intense, haunting, and even moving.

This film is truly amazing. Both Adams and Renner bring a true sense af acting ability to their roles. Told in a story line that some found confusing. Since I see dozens of films a month it was refreshing to see a movie thats not cookie cutter. This film is equal blend of flashbacks and flash forwards that made it an amazing film to watch and re-watch and caused the confusion to many movie goers. Don't miss this out of the ordinary film.

This was the best movie of 2016, but sci-fi films never get recognized for anything other than technical awards at the Oscars. I usually don't watch the extras, but the Arrival bonus features are worth it. Denis Villeneuve is becoming one of my favorite directors (still need to see Incendies). The writer of the short story that the film was adapted from is interviewed in the bonus features and you can tell he's quite intelligent.

If you've followed the careers of the lead actors, Jeremy Renner & Amy Adams, the parts were cast perfect;y in the movie. She is often soft-spoken and cerebral, he is manly and hard-hitting. Enjoyed the story, especially in 4K. The effects become super enhanced, especially the lows frequency sound effects, in the which this movie abounds. While the plot is very apparent, there are sufficient twists to keep you interested.

Okay, let's start by saying it won a few awards for special effects and sound. Acting was solid, but not over the top fantastic. The story was not entirely original, but rather a light combination of elements from ET, Contact, and a few others. However, it was directed and edited very well. It makes you think and thus, it was entertaining Science Fiction.

This was great a SciFi movie. I think the thing I loved best about this movie was that it did not follow all of the usual cliches. Yes there was still the element that wanted to kill the aliens but that was not the central premise of the movie. It was very thought provoking and definitely one of those movies that you have to watch more than once to ensure that you did not miss some subtle point somewhere. Highly recommended.

While I usually catch on to what's going on in a film, this one kept me guessing until almost the end. It's science fiction but it's more a movie about Amy Adams' character and her self-discovery. This is, I think, a great movie for people who don't generally like science fiction and well worth the TIME (and I capitalized it for a reason that will become clear after you view the film) to watch and to enjoy again and again.

Saw part of this movie on a vacation earlier this year and decided it would be worth buying. I liked the movie a lot, but you have to really be paying attention in order for this movie to make sense. If you miss a few key scenes I'm afraid you will get totally lost. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. I really like this movie though.

I wanted to see this when it was released in theaters but Work...... I picked it up on sale for $4.99, a third of seeing it in theaters, which you can't beat. I haven't had a chance to watch this yet but the premise looked interesting and the actors are talented and well established so I am expecting it be entertaining.

Excellent movie! I love the use of language as the primary precursor of the story being told. I always enjoy movies that really make you think. Escapism is the key to enjoying any movie. You just have to immerse yourself in the story and accept what is being conveyed. Beautiful correlation to dreaming on how life should be lived. Never take anything for granted. Live life to it's fullest. Be grateful for what you have.
