Returning these
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to own a pair of a30s about 12 years ago and they were the best headset I've ever used. Throughout the years I have bounced between astro (a40s) and other various turtle beach products but I was never truly happy with them. I decided to go with the a30s again because I was hoping that lightning would strike twice and I would have found the perfect headset again, but unfortunately this was not my experience. PROS: - The app that you have to download is pretty easy to use and I like how you can create different sound profiles and adjust the eq on the fly. - The headset is very lightweight and never gave me any feeling of tension on my head during 2-8 hour gaming sessions. - Build quality was great. No creaks, or plastic sounds when adjusting. - For me these were the most comfortable headphones I've worn since my original pair of a30s. The ear cups, the headband, the lightweight materials, it was really quite nice wearing these. CONS: - I had connectivity issues with the app and when trying to use my xbox. I was able to stop the issues by going into the app settings and adjusting the auto off function when the headset was inactive. Problem was that headset was not inactive at all. But whatever I could probably forgive this issue since I seemed to fix it but I figured I'd mention it in case someone else has the same problem. - I was not able to turn these off with the power button multiple times after one week of ownership. They sat on all night unbeknownst to me and were almost dead when I tried to use them. There was a way around it with some button presses but I should be able to turn off my headset with the power button. - The volume would blast to 100% randomly. I had this happen twice and since this is the loudest sounding headset I've ever used it was not pleasant at all to have this happen unexpectedly. - Astro took the custom speaker tag function off their website. It might be stupid but I like to customize my things and I was looking forward to this since I did them on my original pair. Sad to see that they took that feature away about 5 months ago. - There were a few occasions where I'd get random beeps but I don't know what they meant. There's no instruction manual in the box and the QR code they give you doesn't help either. I can't speak a whole lot on the microphone quality as I did not have a chance to use them, but I did do one test on the internal mic and it seemed to work pretty good. I don't think that mic quality would be an issue overall. Bummed that these didn't work out but since other reviews mention similar issues maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

Who could ask for anything more?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve never had an Astro headset, I’ve always bought Turtle Beach for my Xboxes, and Logitech for the PC. The packaging is genuinely nice, sturdy, but not gaudy or full of extraneous stuff, there seems to be a little bit of thought in making the packing minimal but still feel like it’s high quality. Save the planet and all. The connection to the Xbox and PC is very simple, you can just plug in the USB-A dongle, and it’s paired and ready to go. You can also connect via Bluetooth with your phone or PC, and I think PS5 has Bluetooth as well. There is no lag at all when using the dongle, and I don’t hear any Bluetooth-ish compression. Bluetooth pairing is super simple and being able to listen to my music while gaming is just amazing. The headset looked like it might be a bit tight for me, as I have a giant head, but it fits great with solid but gentle clamping force, it even looks like it has room for fatter heads than mine. The earpads are soft and I did not have any issues with them being hot while using. I used them for 6 hours straight and did not feel hot or uncomfortable. The materials of the whole headset show where your money went, everything feels great, the textures are unique and very pleasant. These feel like they are going to last for a good while. Setup with the Logitech G app was quick and easy, I really like the slider for chat/game balance, though the wheels on my Turtle Beach headset is easier to mess with than an app. It’s a setting that needs adjustment more often than I would like to stop and pick up my phone, find the app, then make the adjustment. The app’s equalizer works best with small adjustments, if you get too crazy cranking up the bass, it smothers the rest of the sound, I wish it gave a little more frequencies to push up and down to shape the curve. The app also has the option in it to switch from “Console Mode” to “PC Mode”, I’m not clear on what the differences are, as Logi does not seem to think it’s important to give too much information to users. The Logitech G software on the PC does not see the headset via Bluetooth or via the Lightspeed dongle, so we’re still stuck with the phone for adjustments. I like the sound a lot for gaming, these do a good job at spatial positioning in the games I play most on Xbox- Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 4 and 5, and The Division 2. Being able to hear someone creeping up to try a pass and know nearly exactly where they are as they approach it is really nice. I don’t play shooters, so I can’t speak to how good they are at super-fast paced games where I know positional sound can be all the difference. I got no complaints at all about the microphone quality, though without any pop filter, it does pick up my mouth breathing when I’m concentrating on the game. So, there’s that. I had very low hopes for music quality with these cans, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised, no exaggeration, they have surprised me with some of the sound they punch up on tracks that I am very familiar with. The A30 has a wide soundstage for closed backs, though there is very obviously an awful lot of electronic squishing and molding of the sound, I have not found them to be tiring at reasonable volumes. I would not personally use these for daily drivers for music, but they are pretty good for electronic stuff and rock, I found them sorely lacking on classical tracks. They haven’t clipped even when at high volumes, but the sound does flatten out as the volume goes up. These are not nearly as bad as a lot of other wireless cans that just give up when the volume goes too far. This is now my go-to gaming and PC headset.

Great headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone that has been through what must be 10 headsets at this point in my gaming history, the Astro A30s have distanced themselves from the rest by a large margin in sound quality, build quality, and overall appearance. The A30s were built keeping in mind that the user would potentially be using them not only for gaming, but also to listen to music. From a gaming perspective, they have a wide range of sound that can produce the deepest of low bass frequencies to some of the highest pitch frequencies you will run into in any gaming experience. They do a great job of producing a 360-degree sound that from my experience has been extremely accurate at depicting where a noise is relative to where you are in the game. From a listening to music perspective, they get the job done and have quality sound, but simply cannot produce the same sound as some headphones with a deliberate purpose of listening to music. They are primarily meant to be gaming headphones, so this did not come as a surprise. As far as the build quality and overall appearance, Astro Gaming and Logitech knocked it out of the park. The A30s are hands down the best-looking headphones on the market in my humble opinion. They have a high-quality feel which is welcome as gaming headphones are infamous for having cheap plastic builds that seem to break just after 6 months to a year of use. One of the complaints I have about these headphones is how they structured the controls. On the left earcup, you have a port for the detachable microphone, the port for an auxiliary cord, a microphone built into the cup itself, and the switch for muting the microphone. On the right earcup are the Bluetooth button, power button with a status light, and a four-way joystick. The four-way joystick is something not found on most if any other gaming headphones. Pushing left or right changes the chat/game balance, while pushing up or down changes the volume. Most other gaming headphones simply have a wheel that controls the audio setting; that approach seems to be more precise. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting. The only other complaint I have is related to the microphones. When the detachable microphone is being used, it has a pretty clear sound but nothing special. When the detachable microphone is not in use and the built-in microphone is being used, the clarity of my voice suffered and wasn’t very clear to anyone I was talking to. As far as comfort goes, they have a snug feel with memory foam ear cups that have a comfortable feel when wearing. There isn’t much breathability in the ear cups, but this is as expected considering they are supposed to cancel out background noise. The battery life is as good as advertised as I have been testing them for 3 days in a row without any signs of dying or lacking in performance. Overall, the Astro A30s are a great pair of gaming headphones that live up to their price tag.

Quality sound experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will first say that I absolutely love the look and design of these Astro Gaming A30 Wireless headphones. I love how they look modern and just overally sleek. While wearing them, they are extremely comfortable, adjustable, and provide cushion which made me like them more. They arent heavy which is amazing because most headphones feel too top heavy on me and feel like they are pressing against pressure points giving me a headache but I have not experienced this with these headphones. These headphones have a great sound quality that is crystal clear. It was easy to connect them to the system, i had no troubles with connectivity. When using it while playing our Xbox the quality of the sound is amazing making you feel like you are there where everything is happening. It picks up the slightest sounds clear as day and keeps you alert while playing. Overall these wireless headphones are easy to use, easy to connect to your gaming system, provide a high quality sound experience while gaming, and are comfortable while wearing.

Great overall headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great overall headset! I have had many headsets over the past few years and none of them are as sleek and stylish as these Astro Gaming ones! I was a bit worried about the white at first, but I actually really like them and they clean up easily. They work with multiple gaming consoles and computers which make it the perfect headset to use with all of my gaming platforms. The one thing I was worried about was the comfort and I can honestly say these did not disappoint. To wear something for hours each day, especially headsets can be a bit uncomfortable but these are lightweight and breathable. I really like the detatchable microphone mouthpiece as I already have a microphone for my computer but not for my gaming consoles. Overall, the price and design of this product is excellent. The packaging and quality of the contents is impressive. I would highly recommend these to any gamer, whether you are at it all day or just a few hours here and there. Give the Astro Gaming A30 Wireless headphones a try!

Versatile & Feature Rich
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Astro A30 headset is a very nice mid-range option for gaming and entertainment consumers. It is very comfortable on the head and the styling is one of the best selling points of this device. The white look is very clean, and while definitely a gaming headset could even be pulled off in work meetings if the need arises. The sound quality on this setup is very nice, especially at the price point. For gaming sessions the unit stays very comfortable on my head for many hours, and the 3D Surround Sound works very well for picking up footsteps of your enemies lurking nearby in your favorite first person shooter games! For watching movies and listening to music the surround sound works great as well, and the sound is very clear with deep lows and crisp highs. The battery life is really good, and one of my favorite things to do is listen to music from my phone and game at the same time! Not a lot of devices do that so that is a huge win in my opinion! If the build quality was a little more premium this would be 5 stars, as the light plastic feel was the only negative mark in my opinion.

Amazing sound, but fatigues larger heads
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Astro A30 provides a level of versatility for gaming that I didn't expect. It accommodates multiple sound sources, between bluetooth, wire, and the usb dongle that plugs into your Xbox console. This sort of blew me away. Imagine having a soundtrack or playlist piped into your ears via your phone or computer over BT, while having your game streamed in from the dongle. Or using audio chat over Discord or another social stream while playing. It's a really thoughtful feature. The free app you can get for iOS and Android easily connects with the A30 and provides configuration that is really nice for a primarily geared to gaming headset. You have eq presets, but you can also configure an eq to your liking using a 5 band slider eq. And you can add various custom presets, so you can tailor to particular games, or between music, movies, and games. There are a couple of options for your microphone. There is a boom mic included that plugs directly into the headset, but there are also built in mics. I have found the built in mics to be more than adequate, and in some ways a bit more natural sounding than the boom. There is a configurable slider in the app also for your mic to have sidetone so you can let your voice in while speaking so you don't have that stuffed ear feeling. It's not high fidelity, but it's clear and can be almost too loud if you want using the slider. The only ding I give the A30, and this is subjective, but why I dropped a star, is that the ear cups are on the small side. They fit around my ears, but they are sort of crowded feeling to me. Further, they clamp a little too much for my larger head, so I can't wear these for very long before I get that heartbeat throb in my temples from the pressure. It's not painful, but can be distracting. Overall though, the sound quality of the A30 is fantastic for music, movies, and gaming. It picks up the Dolby Atmos without a hiccup out of the Xbox. The sound is balanced and atmospheric. It has a toggle between immersive and footsteps, with the footsteps setting giving you a more embellished sound effect feeling, while the immersive provides a balanced profile for music, sound effects, and dialog. I found myself really enjoying music from Spotify, but also fully immersed in Halo Infinite every moment. I highly recommend these for sound quality alone.

A far cry from perfect.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is very middle of the road to put it bluntly. As far as comfort goes it’s a tad on the small side for those with bigger heads but the for the rest of us the earpieces are comfortable even for extended play. The sound quality while using with the Xbox was a bit off as I felt as if the sound was unbalanced between headphones. This only seemed to occur when being used for video games as it seemed more balanced when used in conjunction with my phone as Bluetooth headphones. Mic-wise the boom mic was incredibly low volume according to the many people that I played with online. When detached the built in mic seemed to work much better at catching my voice. Over all the headset seemed to be very clunky with adjusting volume and mix control. A nondescript, multidirectional control on the right headphone is meant to control these but there wasn’t any instructions to direct how to use it. There IS an app that seems vital to the proper use of the headset and once downloaded to your phone helps to set EQ and volume control. (However for all the setting available I still could not fix the seemingly unbalanced in-game sound) Overall I don’t think I would purchase these or recommend them considering the various alternatives on the market. Not without merit but still there are better options.

Mic doesnt always function right away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got an Astro A30 headset and after having issues with the headset not detecting mic audio after I powered on the device I contacted support. Support issued me another headset without having to send the original back to them but Im having the same issue! My new headset was fine for the first few days but now everytime I go to talk to someone they can't hear me unless I turn the headset on and off several times. The headset is comfortable and the sound quality is great but the mic issue is a major inconvenience with the design.

Great headset but might hurt for bigger heads
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have liked various Logitech and Astro gaming headsets in the past so I figured I'll try this one out. I've tried using this on PC and Nintendo switch but it will also work with Xbox Series platform , Playstation 5, mobile devices like iPhone and Android along with mac's as well. Inside the box you get the headset in a hard case and a USB type C to type A cable, a 2.5mm to 3.5mm headphone jack and the detachable boom mic. On the headset you get a few buttons to turn it on and off, and to connect to Bluetooth as well. On the headset you have 3 ports. There for the boom mic, USB type C to charge and the 2.5mm port for the headphone jack cable. Also the side plates can be removed and customized I assume on Astro website I believe . You can also use a USB type A dongle that's included to use on a PC if it doesn't have Bluetooth. They also sell a USB type C dongle on their website for $34.99. As far as sound goes it's loud and great to use if you don't want to have speakers blasting sound late at night or need to hear for like footsteps in a shooter. I knocked it down a star because if you have bigger heads it might be uncomfortable for you .
