Worth the money to get the mixamp in box

These were an upgrade from my Turtle Beach stealth 600. I haven’t had a wired headset in a long time so that was the biggest adjustment for me. Having the mixamp gives a lot of freedoms to add other sources and combine things into the one headset. Just a bit of a warning, the next gen consoles (Xbox series X/S and PS5) have eliminated the optical cable slot so hooking to Xbox and PC for both sound and talk simultaneously takes a few extra connections, but can be done. This is not a fault of the Astros but more of a gross oversight by the console developers. Great for content creating/streaming as well as casual gamer!

I recently wanted to try the mixamp pro, I have the mixamp m80 and heard good things about the pro on the Xbox series X. At first they sounded amazing but after a while they sounded the same as the m80. Eventually there was a sound coming into the left ear every couple of minutes that was a static beeping noise. It does work if you unplug the mixamp from the Xbox and reset the Xbox. Returning them because I don’t want to deal with the issues. They sound good when they work, that’s all I have to say.

Absolutely loving this headset! I haven’t upgraded in about 7 years and this was everything I could ever hope for in a modern gaming headset. I love having the option to use the mixer or just being able to connect my headset directly into my controller. The sound quality is amazing both for gaming and for music. Also, and incredible headset for the price.

I use them for CSGO. Everything is really good. The headset is super comfortable, everything is easy to hear, and the mixamp is super useful especially for comms (discord, teamspeak, etc). The one flaw is that the mic quality is not very good.

Best gaming headphones I have ever owned. The sound is crisp and clear. You can tune the sound with their software on PC or Xbox. I can hear footsteps from a mile away before my squadmates hear them. Very comfortable for long gaming sessions, too.

You get what you pay for which is essentially the Ferrari of headsets. Definitely worth the price tag IMO; won’t find a better quality of sound in a gaming headset and nothing is more comfortable on the market.

I have the older gen PS4 mixamp that I used with Philips Fidelio X2 headphones and a modmic. I decided to buy this new one with the headset to dedicate to my Xbox. The mixamp and headset are awesome but there is one feature that is no longer available that, although may not be useful to the majority of gamers, I really need. There is no power button on the new mixamp. It just stays on all the time. Other than that, the old and new one sound the same but the build quality of the new one looks much better. I can't compare the old and new headphones but the new headphones sound really great, especially with the included Dobly Atmos code that applies to Windows and Xbox.

I purchased this headset a few weeks ago and they work great. Pros: Sound quality is top notch and allows for pin point audio detection. Controls are simple and easy to use. Voice pickup works well, yet holds back on other noises which is nice. Cons: The headset may not work at all if the mixamp needs an update. I had this happen the night I purchased it. I had to take it to my cousins because for a new version of firmware because I do not own a PC, this is a hassle. Secondly, the headset does not auto connect once I power on my xbox. I can hear audio, but I have to switch it to PC mode, then back to Xbox for it to detect and allow me to talk in party/game chat.

Pros: Sounds amazing, extremely comfortable, long cable, much better software adaptation. Cons: Not noise cancelling/you can hear a lot of what is going on in outside of your headphones, doesn't come with pop filter.

Come on, they’re Astros. Quality, comfortability, build quality, they’re all up there. No matter the reviews, no matter the competition, you’re not going to find an all-in-one, pre-equalized, high quality headset at this price point. I’ve owned and still own headsets of a variety of standpoints, such as studio grade headsets to other gaming headsets. I bounce around each of them as upgrades come out, but there’s one I simply keep coming back to, and it’s Astro for my gaming. If you have a pair of A50s and wondering if you should get A40s, you only need to consider free range of wireless vs wired, but aside from that, they are identical in comfort, audios and quality. The MixAmp on this thing is also so much more friendly than an A50. If you’re a console user, A50, and if it’s for desktop, get A40s. As for customer service, you know, I’ve never been treated poorly. They’re quick at responding, and they really are thorough before letting you go to make sure everything works. This is my 4th pair, but only because the last 3 were upwards of like 5-6 years old and still working phenomenally. Just thought I would have more use of the A40 with my new gaming PC. Again, they’re amazing, you won’t go wrong whatsoever by purchasing these. Astro should be sponsoring me with how much I enjoy all my headsets. P.S. That new Blue Ice mic that you can buy separately? Don’t bother, it’s the same quality as the A40s mic. Pretty sure it was mostly for the Logitech headset since the Logitech mic is pretty garbage. So yea, don’t get Blue with Astro, do get Blue if you choose Logitech, at which point, you may as well spend the extra $20-50 for the Astros instead.

This would get a 5 star but the paint on my headset chipped off lol. The sound is amazing for FPS and all types of games, the bass is extraordinary. The mix amp makes it easy for you to control your sound so you’re not blowing your eardrums out but still having a very epic experience.

Excellent gaming headset, I've been using Astro's since the Xbox 360 and absolutely love their sound profile. Even after making the switch to PC 3 years ago, I still use Astro's over all the other headset options for PC. Sound quality is great, about the same as the Gen 3's. The Gen 4's MixAmp has a better build quality then the Gen 3's, and I like the addition of the halfway bump between the game and voice knob to let you know you're in the middle. I really wish Astro would put a sleep mode option in a firmware update. This MixAmp has no power button so it's always on, which is a little annoying if you're trying to sleep and the LED's are staring at you. Overall, great headset though.
