Great headset. Pain to set up on Series X.

Ok, where to start. Getting these to work for my series x was a real pain. First of all, the instuctions only show you how to set up a xb1 or pc. No mention of series x. I had already read reviews, and knew that for these to work on the Series X that I'd have to update it with Astros command center for pc or Mac. So as soon as I opened them I connected it to pc. It prompted for a firmware update, and updated both headset and base station. I then flipped the little switch on back of the station to xbox and connected to Series X via USB. It detected the headset. So you then have to mess with setting for audio, and then download dolby access app for xbox. After doing all that, I put headset on, and nothing. I worked on this for multiple hours. Restarting headset, connecting base station and headset back to pc to see if there was another update, and eventually I gave up. Took them back and exchanged for same headset thinking I had a faulty one. I get home with them, repeat everything again, and still nothing. I did notice that the firmware it installed on new pair started with a 4 this time. The previous pair started with a 5. So after doing a hard reset on head set and downloading the astro command center app for xbox, it finally through a prompt saying I needed to update my firmware using a pc. So for the millionth time I connect it to pc, launch command center, and it prompted for update. When it finished updating, I noticed the firmware for both headset and base station started with a 6. So I plug it back into the Xbox via USB, held my breath, turned headset on, and after multiple hours, and headsets, it finally worked. Every video I watched on installing these(because lack of actual instructions in box for series x) made it look simple. Update, plug in, download dolby and change sound set up in settings on xbox. This was not the case for me. Only by doing a hard reset on the headset was I finally able to get it to prompt for a second update to the right firmware. With that said, sound is great, headset is comfortable, and I really enjoy them. I wanted to share my experience on here to maybe help somebody else who may be going through the same headache I did when setting these up. If your firmware doesn't start with a 6 after the update, they will not work for Series X. Try hard reseting the headset and connecting it back to pc to see if it forces it to update to right firmware. It worked for me, but I may have just got lucky. Good luck!

I started out with the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 and fell in love but we have a high-traffic home and as it is a wired set, the cables soon proved to be too much of a hassle. Enter the Astro. The sound quality is fantastic. Crystal clear, even at unhealthy volume levels and the directional accuracy is superb. I can easily tell where sounds are coming from; to the left, right, above, below, wherever. If it makes noise, you'll find it. I placed my game character in front of a waterfall and looked straight at it. Slowly turning from left to right, the sound was dead on as to which earpiece was projecting and gave a surround sound effect that simply cannot be duplicated with TV speakers or most sound bars. Gone are the days of frantically spinning around to see where enemy fire is originating as the Astro directs you to the commotion with pinpoint accuracy. Some have said that placing the headset in the charger is tricky but the magnetic contact points pull it down to the right spot 90% of the time for me. My only negative comments are that a separate wall charging adapter would have been nice since I power my PS4 down when not in use so having the charging cable plugged into the console does me no good. The plastic microphone feels like it needs a stiffer wire inside as getting it to stay in the right place can be tricky. Its very flexible, which is good so that it doesn't break off but it does take adjusting every once in a while. My biggest dislike is the narrow strip of foam padding under the headband. The headband itself is plenty wide but the foam pad that sits on your head is narrow, like an inch or less. It makes a hot spot right on the peak of your dome. If the pad were as wide as the headband it would double the contact area and distribute the weight better. That being said, I have lots of charging adapters, the microphone is adequate and the headband isn't uncomfortable, just all the weight in one spot so really, I have no major complaints and I love not having the kids or dogs tripping over cords and ripping the headset off. A+ effort Astro! My Turtle Beach set is back in the box.

    That summer fling

Unfortunately, as all summer flings, my love for this headset came to an end. It started out wonderfully, the headset fit comfortably, had fantastic sound, had amazing features (game/voice controls) but 3 things did it in for me. 1) Price. This beauty was $300 bucks. On top of that, you need to spend another $40 bucks just for it to work on the PS5 (it needs an adapter for optical output, used to not be the case for PS4, but yea... thanks PS5 for taking that part out). 2) It does not charge while PS5 is on rest mode. Apparently the PS5 does not provide enough amperage while in rest mode to charge this bad boy.... so yea, only time you can charge it is when you're playing. Which is when I'd want to be using it, not charging it. 3) I was getting complaints that it was cutting out while I was playing from friends, when I'm all of 15 feet away in the same room. For a headset that cost me so much, I'd expect perfection. Granted, all of these things are kind of picky things, but for $340 plus tax? I'm expecting perfection here. Definitely not the case, so it went back. I can make due with a different headset with less features I suppose that didn't cost three times the price. You were fun while it lasted Astro A50...

Ive had previous generation Astro A50’s (Gen II) and these have einilar soundquality to those. These are semi-open back headphones even though they are listed as closed, sound leaks in and out quite a bit. They highs are not quite as crisp as some high dollar headphones like Sennheiser but i do find the bass stronger in these. The range is quite nice, i can use them just about anywhere in the house. The velour cups they use make the headphones quite comfortable as well, if you have a big head the clip that holds the top together might pop apart sometimes but thats my only complaint.

They sound is amazing and the mic sounds great, the range is great and the battery life is amazing. They are also very comfortable. Needless to say I have no regrets.

Best sounding headset I’ve ever used! Very comfortable and the battery lasts a long time. You can customize the sound EQ with the Astro Command Center to get exactly what you want. Mic is decent and clear from what everyone tells me. Price is a bit high. Overall, best headset ever.

The quality and clarity of these wireless headphones is worth the price. Being used on PC, but so glad they also work with Xbox. The “plug ins” online to improve quality were easy to install (go to Astro’s website) and work well. Holds a good charge and very comfortable. Recommended.

    Fantastic audio, some build flaws

Have been using this headset for about 7 months now on PS5. Overall i would say the quality of this headset is pretty good. The audio quality is fantastic and adjusting the overall audio as well as between chat and game is very easy. I havent ever been fidiling with the volume for more than a few seconds to get the perfect sound. The actual quality of the audio is very good as well, it is by far the best sounding headset i have used (I have used the Steel Series arctis 7, Sony Golds, and four seperate Turtle Beach Stealths over the years). The headset is a bit bulky and much heavier than some of my previous headsets, but i havent ever had a problem with it, but i could see people with smaller heads having some issues with this. As for my cons which bring it down a star; It is a pain to charge this headset and play at the same time as the charging port is very loose and any minor head turn would unplug it, so you can only charge it when it is not in use. The charging station can also be quite a pain as it wont always lock into the correct spot, so sometimes i end up fidiling with it for far longer than i should. Also, i dont know if i need to mess with some settings on PSN or not, but the headset does not charge when the PS is in restmode, only when the console is fully on which is kinda annoying. Lastly, the build quality feels kinda cheap, especially for the price and the weight. Because of the weight i would be afriad to drop it from any distance as there is so much plastic in this headset. Overall, the headset provides quality and convenient audio in a very comfortable way. I do feel the positives here outweigh the negatives, but with that being said i would definitely look around and make sure this is the perfect headset for you, because there probably are higher quality headsets out there for cheaper.

Astros have been my go-to headphones for years and years. SUPER comfy and the Dolby Atmos is amazing. Great battery life as well. The only complaint I have is due to the nature of wireless headphones, if you’re in an apartment or have a lot of different device going on in your house, you can catch interference sometimes.

Best headset! The ear muffs feel like a cloud. The top of the headset doesn't make my head hurt from the weight. The sound is clear without having to have the volume all the way up. The best part is I can still hear my kids in the background if needed without loosing quality of the game play. The charging station is magnetic which makes it easy for me to drop and charge or pick up without having to unplug wires. 10/10.

These are excellent headphones. Sound quality is amazing, mic pickup is high quality. Battery life is quite long, even gaming all day I've never had them die on me. The range is also excellent, I have these setup in a basement and I often keep them on while I go upstairs to the other side of the house (40-50 feet away) and they don't drop out. Although they are over the ear, they are not noise cancelling so if you're in a noisy environment they might not be the best for you but other than that, no complaints at all.

Just like Cap in End Game (SPOILERS?), the updated A50 headset is worth of the cost. My puppy recently decided to try out my old A40 TR headset and forced my hand (corgis aren't as innocent as they seem!). So begrudingly I spent the $300 after reading plenty of reviews on the revised A50 headset and I can honestly say I'm glad I did. For one, upgrading to a wireless headset is so convenient. Example: last night I had Spiderverse playing on my second monitor while I worked on the other and I was able to walk into the kitchen for a drink without having to pause the movie. On top of that, having a headset mount without cables is such a space saver which leads to a cleaner, sleeker desktop space. As for gaming, the sound is crystal clear, the mic works exactly as advertised and it fits comfortably for long periods of time. If this isn't in your budget, no shame there. However, if you can afford this headset, you won't regret it.

Mostly use it with my Xbox. It has great sound and friends say the mic is very clear, so they can hear me clearly. I would suggest hooking it up to a pc first to get the updated firmware. This was a pain to get as the versions were outdated so be patient. It is very comfortable and feels like I have nothing on my head. Switching to wireless headset has been great. My controller batteries last a lot longer and I don't have to worry about my cord getting caught up. I would recommend this headset.

Overall the sound quality especially paired with Dolby sounds wonderful and the accuracy of the audio is really nice. It sucks sometimes the audio crackles and you have to reset your computer, and also the fact 5.0 networks can really district the wireless signal from the headset to the docking station. All and all much lighter headset then the competitors. Fits comfortably, I hate there’s no mute switch tho. No way to adjust the chat volume and game value separately without using the app.

I had a pair of Turtle Beach’s before this and while they sounded good they had some pretty hard to deal with connectivity issues so I got these ones instead. Wow this headset sounds amazing!! I can hear footsteps, ambient noise and other sound effects extremely well all while having a nice, comfortable fit on my head and around my glasses. If there was one con to these headphones its the fact that the microphone doesn’t pick up my voice very well when I first turn them on, it can take around 10-15 seconds in order to start picking it up normally, but when it does pick it up it sounds extremely clear for a headset microphone.
