Customers are saying

Customers praise the 24" LED FHD Monitor's picture quality, refresh rate, and its suitability for gaming. Many also appreciate the monitor's price and vibrant colors, along with its ease of setup and use. However, some users express dissatisfaction with the built-in speakers. A few reports mention issues with the lack of an HDMI cable or the presence of dead pixels, though these seem to be less frequent concerns.

Hard to find a replacement for it

I have owned my ASUS VG248QE monitor for about 3 years now. I thought I would treat myself to a new toy and purchased both the PG279Q and the PG27VQ and returned both. They just did not do it for me after owning the VG248QE. The response time and the colors in FPS gaming are just the greatest. I would have thought after 3 years, Asus would have come up with something better. Especially when they want $800 for PG279Q and the PG27VQ compared to the VG248QE which can be had for $250. Alright, it's only a 24 incher and doesn't have G-Sync but who cares. I never had a problem with screen tearing. If you want a great monitor at a great price, the ASUS VG248QE is the way to go. Now my problem is .... what am I going to get for a new toy now?

    Beautiful quality monitor for gaming!

I am in love with this monitor! The image quality looks beautiful, the 144HZ is unreal and while gaming you REALLY do notice the difference between 60hz vs 144hz (night and day difference) The price is great, the 1ms response time is perfect for gaming, its great! Comes with all the necessary ports, DVI Cable (needed in order to output 144HZ, doesnt work with HDMI), HDMI Cable, and an Audio Cable (please read on as there is a major issue in regards to the audio) I only had this monitor for about a week, and i noticed an odd "STATIC NOISE" COMING FROM THE MONITOR WHILE SCROLLING WITH MY MOUSE. Furthermore, i noticed when i exceeded anything past 70 frame rate while playing a game (i.e. Destiny 2), i heard a MAJOR LOUD NOISE coming from the monitor, initially i thought my PC was giving me issues, or perhaps the monitor is just busted, nope, turns out, all you need to do is LOWER THE MONITORS SOUND VIA ITS ON-SCREEN MENU, restart the monitor and it COMPLETELY ELIMINATED BOTH ISSUES. This issue really, really caused me a lot of headache, but I'm glad i worked around it. Despite the annoyance of not being able to use this monitors speaker (by lowering the volume, it eliminated the issue, but on the other hand, i cant hear audio, which isn't all that bad because regardless most people who game on monitors use headphones so, no harm no foul) I'm in love with the image quality and how responsive the monitor is. Hope I've helped.

    Good monitor

I like this monitor, its really big, and the picture quality is very solid. It runs FPS games like butter, the 144Hz really does make a big difference when you play games like CSGO. My only con is that Asus went cheap when it came to cables, super short cables for the DVI and Power cable...really disappointing when you pay nearly $300 for a monitor. Other than that this is one of the best gaming monitors on the market. I also went ahead and purchased the Best Buy warranty to protect me if this thing stops working in the future...I doubt I will need to worry about that but at least it gives me a piece of mind knowing I am covered for at least 2 years.

    Great Entry Level Gaming Monitor

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a true HD gaming monitor with native 1920 x 1080p resolution. 1m/s response time and multiple viewing assignments. It also has a cross hair that you can use in FPS games. This beast has a refresh rate of 144hz through CPU (HD) using a display port cable - not included - (can run the same on the included Dual DVI cable but to a lesser extent). Benchmarks using display port, GeForce GTX series GPU, and AMD FX series CPU were clocking at 30fps (low) to 160 fps (high). However, if you go through your GPU it has a refresh rate of 60hz with any cable. Please note that this monitor will only run on 60hz with an HDMI cable. The stock color settings are not bad, but for some it may need adjustments. For the price it is truly worth it.

    Outstanding Monitor

This is a very good monitor for the money. No ghosting, no lag, excellent resolution and clarity and very good color. It is true that at 144 Hz the colors initially look washed out, but this is very easy to compensate for by adjusting Gamma (1.10), Brightness (-20) and Contrast (105). This worked well for me. Also have mode set to sRGB. Gaming and video look great!

This monitor is so good i'm purchasing a second. The colors are great but what really amazes me is the fast refresh rate. You don't understand just how much of a difference it makes until you can experience it for yourself. This is a recommended buy.

Bought this for a new gaming rig I just built (my first build). I needed something to keep up with the speed of my rig. I felt I wouldn't get the full experience with a 60HZ 6ms response time monitor. After careful consideration and reading many reviews I chose the ASUS VG248QE which offered 144HZ and 1ms response times. I was slightly annoyed that I would have to use HDMI temporarily, which is only capable of 60HZ, because a display port cable wasn't included with the monitor. Display port is the way to go nowadays as it's capable of 144HZ and is a much better option than DVI due to taking up much less space. While the picture with HDMI was stunning I still had to order a DP cable for around $10 to get the full effect of 144HZ. Everything looks amazing on this monitor as it makes AAA games come to life in vivid breathtaking detail. The screen has nice ergonomic functions for your viewing comfort. And it's a very nice looking monitor. Highly recommended if you would like to get the most out of your gaming experience and don't mind spending a little more. I caught a good sale so I'm a happy camper. P.S. Make sure to set your display setting via Windows to 144HZ if using display port.

    Everything Nice and Smooth

Bought this primarily for gaming, but even for regular applications the difference is noticeable. Much smoother mouse movement and with the high refresh rates, it seems to be easier on my eyes. Difference in BF1 is night and day. So smooth. My only gripe is I bought this less than a week ago for 279.00 and it's now on sale for $50 less! I initially felt good about the purchase, but now I feel like I threw 50 bucks out the window.

I've had this monitor for 5 years now and I still love it. The only minor complaint I have is that occasionally there is a little bit of a bleed at the top, but it doesn't happen very often and disappears in a short while. Otherwise I'm still very happy with this monitor. It has served me well.

    Decent but makes some concessions

The VG248QE is primarily a gaming monitor, and in that respect it's very good. This monitor has a fast 144hz refresh rate, provided you use the DVI connection. If you use Displayport or HDMI, then you only get a 60hz refresh rate. It's also uses a TN panel, which is good for speed, but not so good for image quality and viewing angles. If you're used to an IPS panel, then the image quality of the VG248QE will not impress you in the least, if you're used to TN panels, then you'll find the image quality to be on par with what you're used to. The factory calibration settings are bad, really bad. You will want a custom ICC profile, several of which are available if you look for them online, and even then you'll need to to some manual fine tuning as well. Once you get that sorted, you'll end up with a display that is average to a little better than average for a TN panel monitor. As I mentioned before, this a gaming monitor and gaming is what it does best. If you're used to the standard 60hz monitors you will notice how smooth everything is, assuming you have the GPU horsepower to push the frame rates into triple digits. The stand is nice and moves up/down, side to side, and allows for portrait mode as well. I can't comment on the built in speakers, but most people who would consider this monitor will likely have a much more robust sound setup. Until 120+hz IPS panels hit the mainstream scene, this one of the best gaming monitors you can get. Also, on a side note, this is the first monitor that will accept Nvidia's G-Sync upgrade. Which could prove to be desirable in the next few years.

    Bought for Console Gaming

I bought this monitor for console gaming. At first I was considering the 27" Asus, however 24" is definitely the perfect size to play on while sitting at a desk. I play mostly Fortnite on PS4 and the picture was much better from my Sony gaming tv. Might even get a gaming pc next because of the high refresh rate.

One of the best monitors for gaming

I would play my console games (Xbox One) normally on a 50" Samsung 4K TV. I noticed I would have major input lag. I transtioned to this monitor doing research on ms and fps. This monitor does do 144hz mind you that consoles only go to a max 60fps so that feature doesn't really make a huge difference. What matters is the 1ms response time it totally fixed my input lag and I'm actually at least half a sec faster. I'm really happy of my purchase. Isn't the most expensive but it does the job for me.
