Lack of quality control is concerning.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lots of quality control issues with these things. Noisy fans, the speakers are god awful and will blow in the first 10 minutes you use them. Other users have issues with monitors that wont reconnect, screen separating from the top of the chassis. This is a great laptop in theory but it just pales in comparison next to a Macbook. Asus - make the Armory Crate stop being such bloatware, make the hardware better quality, and have at least one quality control person to identify things like bad speakers or noisy fans. We are totally ok with this laptop being thicker if it means bigger, quieter fans.

100W PD Charging, yes but also no.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's soooooooooo disappointed that this laptop can only be charged in 100W PD mode with the original charging adapter ONLY. Any other third party 100W PD chargers that's smaller, with more charging ports, can ONLY supports 65W PD on this laptop. Even those third party 100W PD chargers supported 20V 5A 100W PD charging, which is exactly the SAME as the original charger. I've tried 2 different PD chargers and 1 power bank that all supports 100W PD but none of them able to charge this laptop over 65 watt. I've also contacted with ASUS tech support and they told me that seem like just a "recognize" problem or limit that can easily be fixed by a bios or PD firmware update. But they are unlikely to fix it anyway. Other latest ASUS laptops that also supports type-c 100W PD like ROG Zephyrus G14, 15, or 16 does NOT have this problem at all! I got a G14 2021 model from Bestbuy like 6-months ago and knew ASUS they are able to do it! Just really can't understand why they made for this artificial PD limitation. Returning it soon.

Palmdeck Pips Keep Falling Out
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buyer beware ! The little "pips" on the palmrest that keep the screen from touching (and thereby getting scratched) the keyboard keys are secured with nothing but cheap double-sided tape. Because of the keyboard position, your left hand will constantly apply forces to the left one and it will fall out. It is just a matter of time. Contacted ASUS support and they said one cannot obtain replacement pips. All one can do is replace the entire palmrest deck every single time one of these pips falls out. Best Buy Geek Squad doesn't want to deal with it. ASUS support sends you back to Geek Squad because ASUS refuses to directly service Best Buy purchased systems. And the loop continues. No private shops want to touch the repair because it is a super-troublesome fix. Can't get the exact ASUS pips to fit the slots in the palmrest. The pips are made out of a type of rubber that will not hold with glue. Strong glues will melt the plastic deck and really mess it up. The pip design is an epic fail. Do not buy this laptop if you are not OK with the pips falling out all the time.

Posted .Dear Zhizhixping,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, the pips don't easily fall off, they are bond with strong adhesive, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.
If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Outstanding gaming laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I honestly have to say that this is hands down the best gaming laptop I have owned thus far, this rig replacing an Acer Nitro 5. Although I am a fan of the i7 processor in the Nitro, the AMD chip in this laptop is no slouch. Right out of the box, I was happy to have gotten this laptop. It is sleek and well designed. It looks a little basic from a distance because it is all black, but once you get close you can see the detail and quality. The power button has a fingerprint reader so you can power up and login all at once. This is good because the laptop does not have a front facing camera so you don't get the facial recognition login that comes with Windows. This laptop is fast so start-up time is very quick. The screen is bright and crisp. The big surprise was that it is a touchscreen. While the features say it is 2-n-1, it specifically says "touchscreen: No". It did not come with a stylus however, which would have been nice. Gameplay is very good! As long as you are plugged in, I got almost no lagging or skipping when playing games like Cyberpunk 2077, which was a relief as the Nitro had real trouble with 2077. Performance is not as good as on a desktop rig as there are sacrifices to be made in order to get the card to fit in a laptop, but this thing handles all I have thrown at it like a champ. The only major downside is the lack of a front facing camera. Video chatting has become mainstream since COVID and this computer is lacking there. It's not enough to take away from a very capable, sleek, high performance gaming laptop. 5 stars.

Defective laptop deserves a new laptop that works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sad experience, bought this laptop hoping that it would be great but it has not turned out that way. I got the laptop and within a month. I delt with problems on the top of the key board when it would charge. The keys would not work. The cpu would get up to damaging temps, between 70 Celsius to 90 celcius. Not normal for doing nothing on the laptop. It had a defect. And now I took it in to Best Buy and they are repairing it since it is under warranty, but disappointing because you send your customer a defect product and now the value of the product after it is repaired will be a refurbished product. This is a month and a little bit after owning a $1200 laptop (I would have returned it and asked for a new one but there was only a two week period to do that). And just working all week doesn't make it easy and the local best buy not close. I have barely used and just barely got to it because college is coming up in the fall and that is when it is used the most. What a poor laptop after spending $1200 and had all the features I could want and need for school I get a defected laptop and now it will basically be a refurbished product because it has had repairs done on it. Meaning the value of it is not that great. When you pay that much for a laptop you expect to not get a defect laptop. I have learned my lesson. Don't go to a store that is going to send me defective products and not care about your business because they're a big company and your business means nothing to them. If things were done right you would give the customer a brand new laptop and send the defective one back.

Freezes constantly
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quickly degrading performance. Laptop is lightly used (mostly internet browsing and office apps) with standard protections in place (virus, VPN, etc). It freezes multiple times per day requiring restarts. Also cannot hold a bluetooth connection to save its life, requiring me to reset the keyboard/mouse connection almost as often as I have to restart the computer. At four months old, I get less performance and more headache from this laptop than from the five year old one it was supposed to replace.

Fast, quiet, RTX 3050
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little gaming rig is a mini monster! Right out of the box, it’s weighted right with thoughtful touches like a textured body to avoid drops, and little rubber feet on the top cover that elevate the keyboard to a perfect angle when the laptop is opened to use from standing. It feels premium and the specs are more than expected for the size. The screen folds all the way around to be used tented or as a tablet. All the Win10 tablet mode features are there. And the screen is magic when it comes to hiding prints! Not sure how they managed it, but it’s accurate and easy to wipe, but wiping the screen is not often needed. The keyboard is PERFECT. Travel, depth, shape and texture of the keys. I’m not sure how else to describe except to say it’s the best I have used—and it’s a 13” machine, that should mean cramped and crowded. It’s not. It’s ideal. I did a little legwork and found the vid card is actually an RTX 3050 in this little gem. And boy does it show!! There is no comparison to the last Gen card performance. People all over the world are raving about the new RTX line, and the hype is justified. Zero lag. MMGs, shooters, old PC classics, everything ran like butter on this guy. I have a 17.5” high end gaming rig that is now collecting dust because I can’t tear myself away from my new ROG fry guy. This is my first ROG outing, and I HIGHLY recommend.
