Powerful Travel Ready Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been my go to laptop for the last 5 years and its an incredible machine. Powerful enough to run AAA games at good frame rate, and portable to take anywhere i need in a small back pack. I’m definitely a future customer for ROG laptops going forward.

Portable Gaming Excellence!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 13.4 ROG is the best portable gaming laptop I have ever used. I can run Fortnite and Diablo 3 on the go and it runs great! You can even fold the laptop for a better view when gaming or watching a movie. The screen is fantastic, and the touch screen is very responsive when using it in tablet mode! I could not ask for more in a portable gaming laptop.

Zombie Laptop...Not DEAD on arrival...not close
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can only compare this laptop a zombie, it's not exactly dead, but you get the picture... I don't know what is going on with Asus lately. This is my 4th laptop I had to return due to issues. It took 40 minutes to boot into windows initial set up--to select my region. It keeps sputtering and freeze. After updating all the drivers, this laptop still had a difficult time with the simple task of opening Edge...at which point I've decided to pack it back in the box.

Posted .Dear F3nix,
We do understand your disappointment and the incovenience if you started experiencing stability or performance issue with the laptop.
To resolve the issue, after installing Windows fresh from scratch, please install all cumulative and feature update. Also, check if BIOS, chipset and video drivers are current. Keeping Windows and drivers updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. While accessing online games or web applications, please check if the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection will definitely affect system speed and performance. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.
If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

An light, dual-purpose laptop with limited GPU
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD - Functional VRR over both HDMI and USB-C - Nice chassis and finish - Lightweight - Excellent touchpad -16:10 display ratio - All USB 3.1 or better - AX Wireless BAD - No direct G-Sync - Limited GPU performance - Ghosting artifacts on display - Can get VERY hot - High pitch fan whine under load - Only one USB-A port - No wired network - Power button easy to accidentally hit - Not upgradeable Asus' Flow X13 is a unique beast that flexes well in both business and pleasure. The small 13" ultrabook size and 16:10 display ratio are great for mobile productivity. The 8C/16T CPU, discrete GPU, and ROG tweaking software are purpose-built for gaming on the road. Unlike its large, heavy siblings with monstrous power bricks, the X13 and its peripherals won't monopolize all the space in your backpack. The shell and chassis is metal and premium plastics, the touchpad is fantastically smooth, all USB ports are at USB 3.1 or better, and it packs AX wireless ( WiFi 6 ). This is a competitive, premium machine no doubt. However, it does have to make certain compromises due to its size. Shrinking the case limits airflow and cooling as well as battery size. To keep things quiet and cool, the CPU and GPUs are throttled down, limiting performance. You can switch the thermal profile, giving more power to the processors, but that does cause the fans to spin at their maximum speed, which is fairly shrill. Even at normal AC-powered performance mode, a faint high-pitched whine is always audible. And as the metal shell is an important part of the cooling solution, the underside will get uncomfortably hot. Asus actually includes a creased section of cardboard in the box that can be folded into a triangle rest to elevate the back of the laptop off your table or desk to facilitate better airflow and cooling. Also as part of the smaller package, the X13 is not upgradeable in any way, apart from swapping out the hard drive. The system RAM is embedded on the mainboard, there is no 2.5" SATA bay available, and the hard drive is restricted to the M.2 2230 size ( the vast majority of M.2 SSDs available now are 2280 ). The system RAM is dual-channel, thankfully, but it's only DDR4 2133. And though the SSD is a sizeable 1TB capacity and PCIe interface, it's an enterprise model meant for longevity rather than raw performance. Both are certainly more than adequate, but they won't wow your socks off. You can use an external hard drive if you need more space, and thanks to all USB 3.1 or faster ports, transfer rates won't be a problem. However, there's only one USB-A port, the other two are USB-C. One of the C ports is under a rubber cover ( careful, it's easy to lose ) that also conceals the ROG XG connector, which allows you to connect an external graphics card module. There's also an HDMI port, but no wired network jack. The big thing to talk about is gaming performance. Despite having a discrete GPU, and despite it being a GeForce 3000 series, the X13 is not a heavy gaming machine. The RTX 3050 Ti inside is only slightly higher than older 1660 and 1650 GPUs in raw processing potential. Yes, it is an RTX card, and that means tensor cores, ray-tracing, and DLSS support. But don't count on using them very much since Asus has set a 35W thermal envelope on the GPU, meaning the clock speeds are much lower than they otherwise could be ( again, small case, small cooling ). To make matters worse, it only has 4GB of VRAM. The limited clock speeds, VRAM bandwidth, and capacity means the GPU doesn't have the resources needed to really push modern games. It's certainly capable of crisp and smooth 1080 gaming on med-high detail, but higher resolutions and detail settings are mostly out of reach. My older laptop with a 6GB 1660 Ti regularly outperformed the X13 by 10 fps or more in all games I tried. However the X13 can pull off one very cool gaming trick many Nvidia gaming laptops can't: variable refresh rate. Nvidia requires a DisplayPort connection for G-Sync to work ( excepting the very few TVs that support G-Sync over HDMI ). Many, if not most, gaming laptops with discrete GPUs route the dGPU's output through the integrated graphics on their CPUs. This pass-through behavior interferes with the G-Sync protocol, so even if you have a DisplayPort output, or use DisplayPort alt mode on a USB-C to DP cable, the Nvidia GPU won't detect G-Sync as available. But the X13's AMD CPU with Radeon graphics supports FreeSync. My primary gaming monitor is 240 Hz and both FreeSync Premium and G-Sync compatible. Connecting the X13 to it over both HDMI and USB-C to DP enabled FreeSync. When using the Nvidia GPU to render games, the monitor dynamically changed its refresh rate to match. I even tried Nvidia's own Pendulum Demo, which wouldn't allow me to enable G-Sync, but I still couldn't induce a screen tear. Oddly enough, when using the Pendulum on the laptop native screen ( which is FreeSync capable according to Radeon software ) tearing happened as expected. The native display is also 120 Hz capable, but exhibits ghosting artifacts in high contrast scenarios ( like moving a white mouse cursor over a dark desktop background ) I'm not sure if it's because my monitor is FreeSync Premium instead of basic FreeSync, or because it's FreeSync and G-Sync compatible. But having variable refresh rate capability on an Nvidia card without actually using G-Sync makes the X13 quite attractive to those who don't want to spend extra money on proprietary G-Sync monitors. Despite the just sufficient gaming performance, I think the X13 is a good, if niche, product. One could argue it's overpriced for its performance. That's understandable considering you can get RTX 3060 and 3070 laptops for a very similar price. However, those are all larger models, and smaller, lighter computing gear has long been more expensive. The current silicon shortage driving up demand and price also means buying a gaming laptop may be your best chance at getting update system components. The X13 also has a touchscreen and a 360 hinge. I'm not a fan of trying to use laptops as tablets, as they're far too heavy and awkward. But flipping the keyboard underneath to use for on-the-road sales demonstrations or a movie is not unheard of. Perhaps a model without the touchscreen and fancy hinge would be cheaper and more attractive. But as is, if you're worried more about portability over raw performance, the X13 may be worth your consideration. With its meaty CPU and Nvidia video encoding features, it could also make a lightweight streaming/recording system.

Good powerhouse two in one for 1200 usd
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has everything i need for school and gaming and i only have 2 minor nitpicks 1 i wish there was at least one more usb a port but im bot that mad as it has two usbc and a full sized hdmi on a 13 inch 2 in 1 weighing under 3 pounds. 2. My second complaint is that the touchpad is too small i wish it would take up more of the available space on the deck as it just looks wasted, but maybe there is some kind of engineering limit, but it also has a tocuh screen so im not too mad. Overall this laptop is amazing and will suit all my needs great between productivity with its touch screen and being thin and light, gaming with the 3050 ti wgich can run most modern games at 60 fos medium settings which is crazy for a laptop of this size. This is a great laptop and i would recommend it to anyone in achool who wants some good gaming performance put of their school laptop if you can afford the price tag

Good laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its pretty good. Decent. Its very fast, the rayzen 9 processer is awesome. Had it now for 1 day and so far so good. Runs most of my games with ease. Down side is, that it did crash on me only beacuse of heating issues, it can get fairly warm so i do suggest a cooling pad system. Its a powerful machine. Another downside is the drive is kinda small so i maybe investing in an external hard drive in the future.

jam packed ultra notebook for gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looking for a dedicated gaming laptop I came upon a ultra-compact notebook, the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) line of gaming PCs, most which checked all the boxes on my list of my requirements. In particular the model with a 13.4" 120Hz 13.4” IPS-Type WUXGA (1920 x 1200) 16:10 touchscreen and NVIlDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU with 4GB of VRAM got my attention. This model seems to have the best of both worlds, a smaller class notebook jam packed with processing and graphics power, enough to run the latest games and drive external 4K screens. The unit comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 CPU which yields very good performance (which is a processor line which dominates in my household, I also have a full size general purpose notebook and what was a high performance desktop from a few years back all coming from the same AMD family of Ryzen processors). In addition, this ROG laptop from ASUS has a 1TB SSD storage drive and 16GB or RAM all which lead to a portable rig that excels for most gaming needs. Given it is an ultra-compact notebook it has limited ports but is expandable via the optional ROG XG port expander which uses their proprietary ROG XG Mobile interface. The onboard ports include an HDMI port, a 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and a USB-C port for accelerated charging (charges to 0-50% within 30 minutes via the 100 watt charger), and a headphone jack. **For informational purposes while I have not yet found a need to purchase this add on, the following capabilities are part of that device if you decide the onboard ports are not sufficient: [ROG XG Mobile port expander via the ROG XG Mobile interface(PCIE Gen3x8) and USB Type-C combo port, the optional port expanders includes and Gigabit Lan 10/100/1000 Mbps wired network connection, HDMI 2.0b port, a DisplayPort support G-SYNC, four 4xUSB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and a SD card reader]. Again this is an extra purchase item with its own power supply. The keyboard is backlit and folds over into a 360 combination so the notebook can be used in tablet mode. The power on button also doubles as a fingerprint reader if you want to setup Windows Hello to ease logins. The notebook itself is ruggedly built with a gorilla glass display, the laptop feels heavier (2.98 lbs. and measures 0.62" thick) than you would think for the size (although with all the tech packed into this unit and the enhanced cooling mechanism it makes sense). I think this until will hold up well under normal conditions, certainly more than a standard notebook. This notebook performs very well, providing an excellent gaming experience with smooth gameplay and good frame rates. Pros: - Ultra-compact notebook, small form factor - Performance oriented, nice CPU and GPU - SSD drive which is a must for all PCs - Gorilla glass touchscreen for durability - screen folds over so you can use it in tablet mode. Cons: - Could use another video output port on the base laptop - Gets fairly warm even when not pushing the unit to the max - Fingerprint reader built into the power button seemed finicky.

Truly amazing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't think you could pack so much power into such a small package. Windows 10 operated, the usual boot up with Cortana. She did make things really easy and real fast. The SSD drive in the saving is amazing. I always try to put something through the paces when it says it can do something and this PC came through. Played a old Grand theft Auto whatever ridiculous amount of mods added to it and it showed like it was PS5. Nothing much else needs to be said except why haven't you gone out and bought one at the end of that last sentence.

very compact
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ok so I always have loved asus laptops. this is no different even though I am giving a 3 star. but I still love it. being that this is a gaming laptop, for similar price (I believe same) you can get a slightly bigger monitor and better graphics card. monitor itself does not bother me to much because most of the time ill probably end up using my own monitor anyways. but for those times you might not want to, having a bigger size monitor is nice. that said, this has a Nvidia gtx 3050 ti graphics card that has 4 gig VRAM. so not the best but works. this is part on why 3 stars. I play shooter games and right now mainly cod. cod modern warfare I got around 90-115 fps with low settings. some maps a little less depending on were you are on map and looking. was very smooth running the game. max gpu temp was about 70* Celsius. well under what you can hit. granted this was with setting the laptop up like a v as I just used my own monitor. and so laptop was more like a desktop. the package came with a cardboard piece that you fold to make it a triangle stand so that was kinda neat but not sure why not just figure out a way to add something like that. a few things though. it lacks usb ports. it has 1 usb 3.2 port and 2 usb c ports. the usb 3.2 and 1 usb c are on the right side. the lack of at least 2 usb 3.2 ports makes it hard to be able to use your own mouse, keyboard and headset unless you get adaptors or a usb hub. lucky for me, I have a usb 3.2 to a usb c adaptor. and I have a headset that uses a 3.5mm jack. it does have a option that you can buy a ROG XG Mobile device that has a gtx 3080 graphics card. and I believe more ports. the laptop has a special adaptor port that it plugs into. I would have loved to see a simple sleeve included. but this did not come with that. as for performance from the gtx 3050 ti. like I said, I play cod. I did try out a couple games and csgo was 150+ fps with high settings. and Ring of Elysium is a free game I enjoy that I had 60-120 fps. its a BR game so it depended on were I was looking at and what was going on etc. and even as it fluctuated, the game still felt very smooth to play the whole time. the screen is touch, 120 hz and 1920x1200 but I just ran it at 1920x1080. the screen can fold all the way around to feel like using a tablet. if you are looking for a gaming tablet/notebook style laptop then this is it. if you dont need to play games on highest settings. but if you are looking for something to play games on high settings that are newer games that require a better graphics card, or if you want something with a bigger screen then there are better options. because there are better options that run at the same price. its hard for me to recommend this. most of those options are a lot easier as well to upgrade some things like ram, and hard drive. this has I believe 11 screws and they are super tiny, so I did not take apart. my last couple asus rog laptops had 1 that you took out and then was able to pop off the cover and had access to the ram slots and hard drive area. so was easy to get another hard drive to add or ram but on this, not sure if you can. with this, it is a powerful machine for the size. super slim, and 13" monitor. about the same size as my google chromebook but way more powerful.

Big power, little package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I still cannot believe the power that is packed into this small laptop. I feel that this may be the best laptop you can possible take with you on the go. It has everything you could ever want and super easy to carry. I took this laptop with me on vacation and I was pleased with every minute I used it. I used it to lookup spots to visit, reviews, and to book important reservations. I could fold it and use it like a tablet. And it is so compact that it does not feel unnatural. I absolutely loved using this! Then there is the gaming, which is what it is meant for. It handles games perfect and I was able to put it to the test with my library of Steam games. I had zero issues and I was immersed in gameplay without even realizing it was a 13" screen. This may not be for everyone, but I had zero issues with the size. I can honestly say I now realize how big and bulky my Nitro 5 is now. It runs processes smooth and the graphics run like butter. I had no lag or anything like that. Due to the SSD it runs like a Chromebook. It is almost like "instant on" when you boot it up. This is really nice. I don't know what else to say about this laptop other than you will not be disappointed.
