Because of overheating and concerns about long‑term reliability, I decided to return it and would not recommend using it with an external battery pack as the primary power source. Moreover, ASUS should consider removing the bulky plastic hinge on this dock, since most ROG Ally owners are likely to use a dbrand Killswitch travel case that already includes a sturdy integrated stand.

This also didn't physically work with my dbrand Killswitch case on the device. The lights look nice but I hate the Republic Of Gamers text in the lights. For something priced as a premium product, this felt like a cheap product.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Asus ROG Bulwark charging dock is capable at what it does, however there are plenty of alternatives that are cheaper and can do the same thing. The biggest issue I had with it, is the power delivery, or lack thereof. You see, it only includes a micro USB cable to connect to the Xbox Rog Ally X, you are supposed to provide the power supply to not only power the dock, but be able to charge the Ally X itself. What it doesn't tell you is that, by default, the standard power adapter that comes with the ROG Ally is NOT ENOUGH. I kept wondering why I was getting no video signal despite my steam deck dock was working without issue (albeit no charging). As it so happens, I needed a 100w+ power supply to charge and provide power for the dock. So, I needed to buy an adapter, in my case, the ROG branded one, which was another $60 on top of this already expensive dock. It looks pretty, it holds the ROG ally reasonable well with its rubberized bottom grip, the lights are nice at first, but quickly get irritating. You can always download the Asus Aura software to control it, but you really don't want to download any more windows related apps then you have to, and bog down the performance of the system. So, while its pretty and the design flows with the rest of the system, save your money, get a cheaper dock and pair it with the high powered AC adapter, and you'll be a lot happier and spend your money on games and such.
