      Dear 3080fanboy,

Indeed, the Desktop PC is decent system overall.

We do understand your concern about CPU cooler. The fan or cooling system is efficient to dissipate heat properly. It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle and the laptop will generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely speak the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

    Cpu overheats and shuts off

The cpu cooler in this does not work at all. I launch a game (beamng.drive) and system shuts off in seconds. HWINFO64 shows the CPU reached 100+ degrees C so it shuts off. This happens even though I ran it with the side cover off so it would cool better. The GPU is top notch but Asus pinched a few pennies from the build and resulted in a completely unusable system. I can just build my own PC but I didn’t want to deal with it and went with this, it was a mistake. Now I have to lug this to the Best Buy store to return it. It’s a shame because I really liked the case otherwise.

      Dear PHANTOMN016

There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up and check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Also check for Windows updates and make sure they're installed. multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed.

Plugged it in and it immediately sounded like a datacenter in my office. It is ridiculously loud. I bought it mostly for to RTX 3080 though and the i7 chip so I will see what can be done with some different fans. Definitely think twice if you are purchasing as a gift, because sound will be a big problem without better/quieter case fans.

      Dear Mike,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on this model. We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you're having with this model. Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear about the issues you're having with this model. The noise that is emitting from the computer is known as coil whine. When the electrical current is increased to a certain point, the magnetic field around the coil can cause it to vibrate, which produces the whiny sound. After a short amount of time the noise should go away as the components regulates. However, if it is that the sound is too much for you, then we would recommend that you have this device sent in for servicing.

CONS: Poor Case Design with almost No airflow, your components will overheat. (Zero front fans, Zero top fans) Low end RAM (High CAS Latency / Green PCB). Underpowered 750 watt PSU when Asus' own RTX 3080 Tuf product page recommends an 850 watt psu. Poor cpu cooler, throttles at 100 degrees almost immediately under load. --------------------------------------- PROS: NON-LHR RTX 3080 --------------------------------------- Asus' customer support was non-existent when I reached out to them about my issues. If you just want a Non-LHR 3080 then go for it, but beware of the poor cooling, case design & component selection. Shame on you Asus, seriously, do you really not know how to build a desktop properly when it comes to case design & airflow? I find it hard tp believe since you build top notch individual components. BTW they just raised the base price from 1999 to 2099.

I bought this, but never even opened it. I was thinking of gutting the GPU, but I ended up getting a 3080ti for my rig. If you have money to shelf out for a better case, get this and gut the system and connect it to the newer case. Make sure you get plenty of fans and good air flow, maybe a Corsair 5000d Airflow.

Only bought this prebuilt machine because I have no way to get a mark gpu. It’s a cool looking rig uses quality components, but why isn’t there a front intake fan? This type of case seems to work ok if it’s a blower style gpu but not for ROG fans that blow air sideways. An intake fan would greatly help the temp but it most likely void your warranty. Mixed feelings about this design.

Great machine. Powerful, fast, with lots of storage nice to look at with the LED. Great all-around graphics card. It can get a bit hot and requires a lot of airflow or cooling to keep it from throttling. It would also be great if the LED could be easily turned off.

I would not recommend this system if you're buying to use it as is. The only way it makes sense is if you're going to take the parts and rebuild in another case with better cooling. As is, the system has insufficient cooling and throttles aggressively. The main components are good quality, (Asus Tuf 3080, 11700kf, Asus B560-G matx motherboard) and the case is very stylish. However, the only cooling is a very underwhelming and ugly air cooler and 1 single 92mm rear fan that absolutely can't keep up. This airflow setup would probably work on a budget build with like an 11400f and a 1660 super, but with this hardware its just not enough. Beyond that there are some other weird choices... like putting an unlocked 'K series' processor on a locked B550 board and including ram with no heatsinks with an open glass window. This is a weird combination of good and bad; but if you're planning to use it as is the bad wins out. That said, its a great deal for the parts if you're looking to build your own system with a different case and cooler at least.

      Dear Random,

We're sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you're having with the CPU cooler on this model. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient airflow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource-hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.
