It seemed to be pretty good performance-wise, but like others, we had overheating problems right from the get-go. Almost as soon as we had it plugged in and before we had installed a single game, the fan started to sound like a jet engine. Soon thereafter, we got a heat warning and the PC shut down. This became a recurring theme, and it got so bad that we're returning the PC. We got a liquid cooled Alienware from Dell and it's far quieter with no overheating problems.

      Dear CyclingDude,

We're sorry to hear about the overheating issues you're having with this unit. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient airflow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource-hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. We do value our customers and take negative customer service experience very seriously. This is not the quality of service expected from ASUS. We do stand behind our product and we continuously strive to improve our approach and processes in order to achieve customer service excellence.

    Inadequate cooling

CPU fan is inadequate. It overheated and shut down on me within 10 minutes of turning it on the first time. Messed with throttling CPU and increasing fan speeds which didnt help. I ordered the Veetro V5 and did not want to void warranty so I took it to Best Buy, and they wanted to charge me $250 to replace it. Its really strange this is all required to make it work. I just replaced the fan myself and it works fine. In the end it is still a great deal.

If you aren't absolutely needing a gaming PC in the next few months, then wait on buying this, you'll be able to buy a similar PC for a few hundred dollars cheaper. The PC doesn't actually get all that hot, even under heavy loads, but, that is only if you go into the BIOS and change the cooling fan curves to something more drastic. Warning: this will make the PC very loud all the time and it will heat up your room by an extra few degrees over time.

The computer works amazing! I play Cold War and run on max everything and still run about 200 FPS. The only down side is that the CPU gets too hot. I have been gaming for a few hours and can see that the CPU is running at only about 50% usage but at 98 degrees C. Other than this, it is an amazing computer! And for the price of this thing it is a DEAL!!!

This PC is really close to being good but an Asus bean counter kept it from happening. It has some stuff going for it. Doesn't have a bunch of proprietary parts. Has a great GPU (3080 TUF, not the blower card pictured) along with a good CPU. Ram and storage are okish and about what you would expect from a prebuilt. The problem is the cooling. The CPU cooler isn't good enough for a 125w TDP chip. It will thermal throttle under a heavy load. It also doesn't come with an intake fan even though the case has a spot for one. All in all the issues it has can be fixed but who buys a prebuilt wanting to work on it? No one, that's who.

Excellent value for what you're getting, needs better cooling solution. But for the price, a 3080....can't beat it. I personally rebuilt this into a new case to solve the airflow problem and I installed a proper CPU cooler.

The PC performs fantastically. The only issue is with the case. There are only 2 fans: 1 CPU and 1 case fan. The airflow is poor so you may see some high temps but nothing dangerous. Also the case is not very great for installing fans and things like that. It's mostly made for aestetic purposes.

Amazing bang for your buck. Was expecting bottom of the line performance but came with a decnt b series gaming mobo and a 3080TUF (which ran amazingly). The only downside was no liquid cooling and the back case fan was noisy(small). That's a very minor, considering this is the best priced i7 3080 pre-build on the market.

This is decent machine, the components found could be better. Reason I bought it is the graphics card that comes with it, the TUF 3080. I've had it for almost a month now and the GPU is a solid performer. I haven't tested the full power of the CPU yet but I am certain that if the CPU heats up, the PC will be loud. I can hear the fans revving when I turn on the machine so I can only imagine what the machine will sound like. Overall, if you are looking for a decent GPU and a decent machine, this should be one of your best options for the price.

GREAT VALUE FOR THE SALE PRICE I BOUGHT IT FOR. WITH THE NEW WAVE OF 40 SERIES CARDS, THIS WAS A STEAL. Case needs improvements, (1) 92mm fan, and the CPU cooler gets really loud - upgraded that and had to remove the side panel due to the size of the Air Cooler.

I'm only giving this PC a 2/5 because of the $1,599 price tag and the 12 months financing on BB's credit card ! This thing is GARBAGE when it comes to cooling ! Not sure how Asus engineers thought it's a good idea to put these components in such a tight space with minimum cooling. I knew about it before making the purchase but I didn't expect it to be THAT BAD since I don't do any heavy gaming and mainly wanted it as a powerful workstation. I tried playing Fortnite with my son and the CPU temp was averaging over 90c and the noise that the fan was making makes your office space unlivable ! Never to mention the ongoing fear that the CPU will melt and your rig will catch fire at any second. I was about to return it but after doing some math, the idea of rebuilding it seemed more reasonable. Some people here managed to stick some fans and/or AIOs and made it better but I ended up swapping the case with a Corsair 5000D and a Corsair H150i Elite AIO and now it sounds and performs life a normal gaming PC averaging under 50c most of the time. So with an additional $300 of investment and a day of work, that thing is still under $2K and I think it's still worth it. If you don't know how to build/rebuild PCs then this thing is not for you (never to mention the void warranty once you rebuild) ... keeping it in its original case is like driving a Subaru WRX STI that is stuck in 3rd gear !!! Thanks Asus for the pathetic engineering !!!

    3080 Runs HOT!

3080 version. Runs pretty hot, even gaming at 1080p on max settings in games like Apex, seeing 90+ celsius. Case doesn't have pre drilled spaces to add fans or extra cooling. Space is very limited inside. Im literally running it with the glass side panel off and a desk fan blowing into it just to keep it closer to 80 celsius... other than that, best way to get your hands on a 3080 right now.

Nice desktop with a great TUF 3080 and decent components. Like others have stated, if you intend to use the PC as is without parting out, you should consider zip tying two 120mm fans up top and installing another 120mm fan in the front to ensure passable cooling. Maybe even replacing the CPU cooler with a single fan AIO or better heat sink / fan

Lucky this is a none LHR 3080 :) . Tested with power save mode it stays at 38c, But while gaming it kicks to 91c in DCS WORLD. I just turn it off completely before it gets any damage. Top vent seems useless it has no fan at all. This system probably only got one smaller fan in the back. I got some spare fans and water cooler laying around to play around with. A none LHR 3080 are probably going to cost around $1600 by itself already im not going to say much just be happy of what you have or return it.

Bought on sale deal of the day. Lots of value under the hood. One star taken away for heating issue noted by almost every reviewer. Not sure why a company would build a product with great internal parts which will create lots of heat and not add a better fan.. GPU fans keeps the GPU cool with no problems so far. CPU fan just doesn’t displace heat like it should. High temps start right out of the box. I quickly changed to performance setting be Windows setting in armored crate software program by Asus which provides access to change lighting settings and performance settings. Exhaust fan now runs all the time and speeds up as needed which helps cooling but overall I’ll need to add at least one or two fans plus swap out the CPU cooler to get great cooling. Box design has lots of holes to draw air in but the small fan installed although is loud at times and can ramp up the RPMs seems insufficient. Bought for son which has all the internal parts he was looking for. When on sale cheaper to buy than build on our own.

I bought this computer to replace an aging Threadripper 1950x and 1080 Ti. When I turned it on... I knew there would be issues. The stock 90mm fans sounded like jet engines in my office. There was no way to deal with that amount of noise. I would hear it even when I was listening to music with earbuds. Absolutely horrible. The actual PC experience was great though. Everything is snappy. It boots in less than five seconds. No complaints there! I took off the side panel and realized, it was just the 90mm fans that was the source of all the noise. I bought a pair of be Quiet! fans and once installed, the noise was a faint whistle so low that it was easily masked by my typing and gone once I put in the ear buds. It is a shame that a $20 upgrade is needed to fix an otherwise impressive package. I just hope others will know, or find out, how to do that rather than pass on a great machine.

PC is great for the money and can't be beaten! This one has the coveted RTX 3080 GPU. Pc runs fast as expected and the video especially on gaming is top-notch. I really like the cooling fans are available to speed and speeds up when necessary and not all the time full speed. I like the carrying handle on top, makes it really easy to carry like a suitcase. I suggest this PC to all my friends and ASUS is a leader in tech, so yes buy it. Be wary of win11, it's buggy and doesn't like a lot of things that win10 doesn't mind, so I'm sticking with win10 as long as it's supported by MS.

Customizable oven with a 30 series graphics card

One of only a few ways to actually get your hands on a 30 series graphics cards in todays market. In simpler times I would not recommend as it does not run well right out of the box. Despite what Asus may say, the cooling in here terrible. I would agree with most of the other reviews that say to either case swap or add a new cooler and more fans as this little oven only has 1 exhaust fan. If you are not as tech savvy and don't want to swap parts out you can go into the bios and disable boost mode. This will lower the cpu temp under load by roughly 20-30%. For the average gamer this will honestly not be that noticeable in terms of performance even at max setting. If you are the kind of person who wants to get every last ounce of power that you can squeeze out of this....you probably already swapped out the hardware TLDR; Either add better cooling hardware or disable boost mode in bios before use.
