This ASUS ROG Gaming Desktop has proven to be a solid gaming desktop configuration with well-matched internal components. It boasts an incredibly robust Intel Core i7-13700F processor, 16GB of 3200mhz DDR4 memory, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card, and 512 GB M.2 SSD. These are your main components to pay attention to when looking at a gaming rig and I’ll go into each one a little bit as well as the overall functionality and gameplay of them combined in this system.
Processor - Intel Core i7-13700F: The Intel Core i7-13700F is more than capable with a great balance of performance and power efficiency. It can handle most any gaming and multitasking demands with ease. Boasts a 41,263 passmark score which is only a smidge below the higher priced 13700K and 13700KF versions but this difference is negligible when comparing them in everyday use. I’ve been really impressed with processor speed of this rig.
Memory 16GB of 3200mhz DDR4 RAM is certainly sufficient for fast paced gaming as well as any day-to-day tasks. The DIMMs are standard and basic, no extra fluff like big fancy heat sinks or RGB lighting but they work well and provide smooth performance in any gaming scenario and allow you to run multiple applications simultaneously.
Graphics Card: The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 is a surprisingly powerful mid-range graphics card for its size and price point. It delivers excellent gaming performance at 1080p with most titles being limited to my monitor refresh rate rather than the card’s ability to render. It can even handle some 1440p gaming as well but of course frame rates will decrease a bit depending on the game’s demands. If you’re doing everyday computing and multitasking this card is way more than sufficient to push 4k resolution with ease making it great for web browsing, Microsoft office tasks and anything you’re doing where additional screen real estate is of value. It also supports real-time ray tracing and AI-enhanced features, making it a solid choice and great fit in this system. Same as the RAM this card has no extra frills like RGB lighting or illuminated badge/fan. It runs a single black fan but gets the job done nicely.
Storage: This rig came with a 512GB Micron 2400 NVMe SSD. This drive would be considered mid-range compared to some of the other high-end more expensive gaming drives, but it definitely gets the job done - quickly. I’ve not noticed any lag and no complaints on load times or responsiveness. 512GB is a decent amount of storage for the operating system, frequently played games, and the essential daily applications. However, if you like to maintain a lot of games in your library or have a large media library of other media files, you might need additional storage – the motherboard does have an additional M2 slot as well as several SATA ports to add as much extra storage as you’d like. The drive does have a nice heatsink to keep it running cool, presumably the one that came with the motherboard because it matches the overall finish nicely.
Performance: This configuration certainly provides a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience, especially at 1080p resolution. The included components are well-balanced to work wonderfully together, and the ASUS ROG brand is known for its quality and gaming-focused designs. Long gaming sessions are a breeze for this rig. The whole system is air cooled, no liquid, but super quiet and I rarely hear the fans rev even after hours of working it hard. Temps stay within normal range no matter how hard I’ve pushed this which means no thermal throttling or lag. None of the components have added RGB but the case itself does and offers a really nice aesthetic look to the tower overall. Nice that it comes with included keyboard and mouse, which are basic but get the job done.
Overall, I’ve really enjoyed having this ASUS ROG Gaming Desktop. Performance is phenomenal, quality of build is top notch, and the overall look is aesthetically pleasing without taking it over the top.

The performance of the computer is as expected. What was not expected or acceptable is how bad the Bluetooth connection is. My headphones will not stay connected and the mouse lags. Both of these items work great with my laptop. (High-end Sony headphones and Logitech MX Master mouse.

This is a fantastic gaming deskop!

This is a really fantastic gaming desktop. It was really easy to setup and I was gaming in no time. The boot time is also really fast. The graphics also look much better than my previous machine thanks to the dedicated GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card. It's like night and day compared to the previous machine's graphics card (which was also high end).
It was also really easy to add additional hard drive capacity with the computer's extra NVME slots. I have already used it for long gaming sessions including hardware intensive games like Call of Duty and Red Dead Redemption 2. Overall, there were no noticeable performance issues or lag even after hours of playing. The cooling system is also top notch and does a really great job in keeping the computer reasonably cool for the firepower it has.
Overall, I highly recommend this gaming machine. It checks all the boxes from onboard RAM, a dedicated graphics card, an Intel i7 processor, and decently sized SSD hard drive. And anything you want to upgrade (like RAM and hard drive space, which I did), was really easy to do and seamless.

A (literally) strong PC with a few weak points

Being someone who doesn't actively engage with prebuilts of my own volition, this was a unique experience for me and a pleasantly surprising one in some ways. TL;DR: this is a literally strong PC with a few weak points, but I would generally recommend it if you are in the market for this brand of gaming desktop, like the case, and/or have the cash (or spare parts) to upgrade the ram and storage in the future.
First Impressions:
This comes with the standard kit I've seen included with prebuilts before: keyboard, mouse, cables, wifi antenna, etc. Nothing fancy and certainly nothing to write home about in my opinion, the only worth of the keyboard and mouse is in setting it up a PC if you don't have one already. You'll definitely be wanting to replace them with a proper set.
It's a slick-looking PC with tastefully done RGB that doesn't scream gamer but instead adds a pleasant pop of color that accents the case quite nicely. Being a person who likes gaming but doesn't like gaming aesthetics, I really was surprised to be so taken by the RGB in this case but it is striking in the best way and looks flat-out awesome especially in the dark or at night.
The case is also slim and pretty compact. It fit cleanly under my Ikea desk even with a stand to keep it off the floor and had room to spare.
Pros:
+ as a prebuilt, this is a dead easy machine to set up. It's basically almost completely set up for you and I would expect even a teen could set it up.
+ has a good amount of I/O ports and even includes type-C on the front I/O, which is a plus as some pre-builts that I've seen from just a couple of years ago only included type A
+ clean, modern, stylish aesthetic with well-done RGB and decent software for controlling said RGB. good amount of lighting effects and options for customization. can actually pick custom colors as well - some cheaper RGB lighting doesn't allow for that, so I was pleased to see that level of customization available
+ processor and video card are fantastic for gaming (or even for intense usages like content creation, video editing, etc.)! no issues so far with stuttering, frame drops, etc. even on higher settings with my 120Hz monitor but do mind the thermals, which I'll get into...
Cons:
- fairly heavy PC, I had difficulty lifting it and getting upstairs on my own.
- 16 GB of ram and having just 512 GB of storage is very much on the low end for a desktop. this might work for a laptop or a Chromebook but especially for a gaming PC, when just a single would be eating that storage up like crazy, I find it ridiculous that they included such a low amount of storage. I haven't run into issues with the ram amount yet, but I expect most people will want to be upgrading both the ram and storage at some point.
- the fans are loud when the PC is in heavy use, which isn't the worst thing in the world if you play with a headset on but can be distracting and concerning because...
- ...it doesn't prevent the PC from running hot, which it does. granted that it is summer, but I keep my home temps pretty low (~75F or lower, if mother nature is so kind as to allow that) and the case still gets noticeably hot to the touch. to return to my point earlier about issues while gaming in the "pros" section, I only really see issues when gaming at higher or particularly at highest settings when the PC has been in use for long enough to get fairly hot and begins to thermal throttle. at that point, the fans aren't doing enough and I suspect the cooling solution used in this PC isn't cutting it to run everything you want to at max settings, which is fine for me but may be a dealbreaker for you.
Ultimately this isn't the highest-end gaming PC in the world but Asus seems to be branding it as a midrange PC and keeping that in mind along with the few downsides, I am still really quite happy with the PC itself and its performance.

Runs great during long sessions

One of the biggest concerns I have when buying a prebuilt is whether or not it can stay cool. A lot of prebuilts I've used in the past have had rather skimpy cooling systems or minimal airflow. This machine doesn't make that mistake. The cooler is an actual decently-sized one with heat pipes rather than a stock cooler, and there's a decent amount of ventilation in the front of the case rather than fake vents. Thanks to all this, the machine seems to be able to actually keep itself cool and avoid thermal throttling during extended gaming sessions.
Aesthetically, the machine is pretty nice. The light strip on the front isn't over the top, and the hardware inside is actually nice to look at through the glass (it doesn't look cheap and off-brand). The carrying strap on the top isn't too out-of-place, and the Wi-Fi antenna isn't too ugly.
As for performance, the RTX 3060 may not be the most powerful card but it seems capable enough of handling modern games in 4K. Though, if you push the settings high enough it does seem to *eventually* throttle itself after a few hours of play, producing some extremely minor stutters on occasion. It seems like it would be able to easily handle 1080p (I just didn't test that since my monitor is 4K). 16GB is a decent amount of RAM, and it was put in dual-channel configuration too so that's a plus. I don't think I've seen the CPU go full tilt more than a few times, so the fact that it's not an unlocked model doesn't really matter to me.
One small issue I have with this build is the upgradeability. It's got a lot going for it! It's got a second NVMe slot to compensate for the rather small 500GB one, the power supply isn't too skimpy, and the bracket for the GPU can be removed to swap in a longer card. There's also the full four RAM slots rather than the two some machines have. However, one thing that struck me as a bit odd was that I couldn't seem to find anywhere to mount a SATA hard drive.
Overall, I'd have to say this is one of the better prebuilt gaming PCs I've used. Other than a few moments of stutter after very long gaming sessions while at a resolution probably higher than I should be playing at, I haven't had a single issue. Between this and the fact that this machine actually has some decent airflow, I'd definitely recommend this. It's a good machine.
