I found my old desktop computer could not run 'Death Stranding". I needed an affordable alternative. After about a week, I decide to add a second SSD. Second SSD was not detected, after about 2 to 3 days of working with ASUS and Best Buy, it was returned to manufacturer for repair. Still waiting for it to be repaired.

It does get extremely hot which causes the CPU to throttle but with the right undervolting and settings. You can get it close to its full potential.

Beautiful Laptop, but Defective

The battery wouldn’t hold a charge and would immediately shut off when unplugged from the charger, so I returned and opted not to exchange for fear of running into another defective product. Just not worth the hassle. So unfortunate because it really was beautiful and fast.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on this model. Please allow us to make your experience with ASUS a better one. please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the system, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the unit is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used.

Not plugged in you get a battery life of about an hour, the keyboard lights up when it wants to and the FPS on shooters was was poor (no more than 20 frames in call of duty on normal settings). Aside from that I could fry an egg with the amount of heat that machine put out at the very launch of a game. Would definitely not recommend, how this has 4.5 stars I'll never know.

Overheating and battery issues

I had to literally tape my battery cable to be in a certain position on my laptop or else it wouldn't charge. The laptop also heated up so much it would be painful to the touch when ever I would play my online MMO's or any high intensity gaming. This is not a gaming laptop. It works great as a laptop but I would never suggest this as a gaming laptop. It is mismarketed in my opinion.

Playing Control with ray tracing. Handles my Total War games (including Warhammer II) on ultra with no problem. Some decent ASUS software and not much bloatware. The only problem I have had is with the MY ASUS program. It nags me to update, although no update is available. I'm probably going to uninstall it.

Temperatures have never reached 80+ for me and the armory crate program is easy to use but also displaying all the information you’ll need about your CPU and GPU speed and performance. I love how the laptop doesn’t scream gaming and it was just what I was looking for.
