We’ve both had it for about 2-3 months. My girlfriend’s laptop has excellent thermals with the laptop leveling out around 80 C when playing FFXIV or Modern Warfare. My laptop however shoots all the way up to 95 C almost immediately and I’ve seen it reach a 100 C while I play the same games. Using MSI Afterburner, I see that my girlfriend’s laptop is able to downclock depending on what’s needed by different games. Mine however, clocks all the way 3988MHz and stays there when I’m gaming. My laptop also occasionally exhibits sharp drops in FPS while my girlfriend’s is stable. I’ve reset Windows, restored defaults to the BIOS, but it still hasn’t helped my laptop. It could potentially be a great laptop, but monitor its performance and look out for the warning signs earlier. My laptop is already outside the return date, which is a bummer because I’d definitely return it in a heartbeat.

Ran fine for a day with multiple reboots and restarts with no problems. On the third day the SSD drive fails. Cant find it in the bios, and the system restore from windows and comand prompt cant find it either. Brought it back to Best Buy on the third day and they removed the hard drive and put it back in and nothing. So at this point i just asked them to give me a new one and they did. Round two, i installed my software and this time it didnt fail until 5 days later. Both failures occured while the laptop were left on idle with nothing running in a 65 degree room. I would not recommend this to anyone now. It would have been fine for one failure but two i dont think so. BTW The software i am running works just great on other computers i own, same installation.

Great beginner gaming laptop

I bought this for that reason alone and if it keeps reaching too high temperatures it won’t last a year through long sessions. I’ve bought an external fan to try to lower the temps but it’s still reaching critical highs. I wouldn’t recommend it for more demanding games.

Might be good pure hardware-wise but the build is iffy.

The Geek squad got it up and running again, but within 2 weeks it went out again. I can't be without it for another 2 weeks, so I had to buy an external keyboard. Not something that should need to be done with a $2k laptop.
