Definitely a solid laptop for the time, not a big fan of the Optane (honest better bet would be to get a second 16gb ram stick for the extra slot). The newer models running with mobile RTX 30 or 40 series GPUs are good gets in 2024

I planned to buy either this laptop or the GS65. The specs are pretty similar, the MSi has great reviews and has 2x8gb ram unlike this one which has 1x16gb ram. The 2060 and i7-9750H performed as expected. The build quality is great. The 1TB ssd has decent speed but isn’t the fastest, the 1TB space makes it worth it. (I got a consistent 2200 read and 1600 write speed). The screen was great, as advertised. The keyboard is also great, the keys feel a little small tho. Temperature wise the laptop performed as expected. It got hot but not too hot 90-96 which isn’t terrible. Cons: the ram is slow, definitely below average. It also is on single channel mode so adding another 16gb stick would have a noticeable FPS improvement. (Easily upgradable, highly recommended). The trackpad is useable but definitely not enjoyable. It is small and it feels pretty cheap. Fan noice. Although I don’t mind it but I’m sure some people do. The fans do get pretty loud. The battery life is terrible. Although advertised as 6 hours, it gets 3 hours on light use. It supposedly supports usb C power delivery but I tried it with two battery banks and i could not get it to work. The quality control does not seem to be the greatest. Some people had issues with speakers, some reviewers had issues with their laptop and so did I. I encountered many issues such as not being able to reset the device, not being able to turn on the keyboard lightings, not being able to customize the keyboard lighting, not being able to charge with usb C even tho my power banks met and exceeded the 65W requirement, and finally not being able to reset the device at all.

    Awesome machine

I am VERY skeptical about gaming laptops. I’m overly picky about them. In my head I imagine there’s a computer out there that’s paper thin, CPU & GPU runs at 10 Celsius under full load, IPS panel with no bleed and 6000 Hz refresh rate. Unrealistic, right? Well those are the kinds of unrealistic expectations I’m working against. After researching just about everything available in the segment from the Razer blade to the Zephyrus S GX502/GX701, the Acer predator triton 500, the MSI Stealth series, Alienware’s latest m15/m17, etc. i found something wrong with just about everything out there, mostly the fact that I would be dealing with fairly good build quality from most, but at the expense of high temps, loud fans, and crazy high cost. That’s just something I was slowly coming around to. In the end the struggle always came down to “I’m paying WHAT for this?!”, I just couldn’t get past that. Then I noticed this laptop was $300 off, and from a spec perspective, it had just about everything I wanted. I was more interested in the Zephyrus S because of the material of the body, but the M is still VERY solidly built, has everything I’m looking for in terms of hardware, and it’s available for roughly $600 cheaper than the Zephyrus S with the same specs, that’s a deal I was willing to take. Fast forward, on paper I’m happy. Now I have to worry about the potential quality issues that riddle this market. Well, I hit the panel lottery jackpot. Absolutely no backlight bleed. All that leaves me with is working through thermals, which is something I can work through. Needless to say, this was a fantastic buy for me, I hope others are as lucky.

I bought this as a gaming laptop to use while on the road over this summer. I was not disappointed at all by the performance of this machine. Plays all my games well and with good graphics. My only knocks against it are: the fans can be a little loud, and even though the specs say that this can run occulus rift there is no jack that it can plug into.

I bought this laptop almost 4 years ago to play my games on and have something to use for my zoom appointments and I haven't been disappointed by it yet. It still works great after almost 4 years of medium to heavy use. 10/10 Recommend.

Excellent product for the price. Got it on sale for roughly $1500. The computer is sleek, light, and thin. Definitely capable of being your portability laptop with a lot of power. The black finish looks amazing and casual.

This laptop is great and runs most game at sometimes even higher than 60 fps but what I dislike about it is that is doesn't come with a camera, for a laptop this high of a price should come with a camera...But overall this laptop is good.

Great Laptop for All Types of Games!

I bought this laptop on sale a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I turned it on, it was amazing. Unlike a lot of gaming laptops, this laptop can run almost anything you put into it, except for maybe some VR games. Yes, it only has 1TB, but that is plenty for many games. It has self-throttling fans inside the computer which really helps when you're playing something that requires quite a punch. Not only is it powerful, but it is pretty slim and neat-looking, too. I was amazed by this product as it performs almost the same as a tower at this price. Very impressed Asus. Five stars.

At this price point for a mid level gaming laptop the performance and just the over all aesthetics are on par with a top of the line gaming laptop. Its build quality is one of the main reasons i bought it, it is a solid build , no flex in the screen when opening or closing and just an amazing appearance. It runs all my AAA titles smoothly on high settings. At this price point if your new to PC gaming or a seasoned VET, this laptop is perfect!

    Great but 1 issue! Help!

I have had this laptop for almost a month now and I love it! However I have had 1 very annoying issue that I cannot figure out. The sound randomly stops working after pausing a video, changing websites, if it goes into sleep mode, etc... I open the volume mixer and it reads that sound is playing but I hear nothing. I can disable and enable the speakers and it will work again. Restarting the computer or messing enhancements works too but everything has been a temporary fix. I have tried every troubleshooting thing I can find online. I even thought there was an issue with the laptop itself. I exchanged it and the new one has started doing the same thing! If anyone has this problem or a fix please comment. Otherwise this is a 5 star from me.

This laptop with these specs can compete with some high end desktops. Honestly, its better than my current desktop. I have only had it for a couple days, but it's running beautifully. A couple things to note is the lack of setup instructions, and the fact that myasus wouldn't start properly until windows was fully updated. If your new to computer setup i would suggest you ask for a techs help. Update windows immediately upon startup, then use MyAsus to download all the drivers. Download the Geforce control panel and Geforce Experience. then use the geforce control panel go to 3d settings and click use high performance settings. if you don't do this, windows will default to the intel UHD graphics card and the system will seem sluggish. I hope this helps. I would highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a solid mobile rig.

Overall, great laptop. This laptop has great specs and therefore can be used to archieve great results in every kind of game and application. I used it so far to test some games with incredible speed and no problem! Lightroom and Photoshop ran smooth, but the screen could be a bit brighter. The sound is really great, with heavy bass and a clear sound. The downside is the battery, that lasts aproximately 3 hours under Lightroom use. Another sugestion that I would make to ASUS is to insert a number keyboard, because there seems to be enough space to do it. I would recommend this laptop because it's one of the best with this specs.
