Customers are saying
Customers regard the ROG Strix 18" QHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop as a high-performance machine, particularly praising its powerful processing capabilities, stunning visuals, and smooth refresh rate. The large screen size is also a major plus for many, though some users note the significant weight and relatively short battery life as drawbacks. Positive feedback frequently highlights the impressive frame rates achieved in various games. However, the substantial size and weight may be a consideration for those who frequently transport their laptop.

Powerful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing absolutely crushes games including cyberpunk 2077. The screen is very bright and extremely vivid with nice colors and the speakers sound excellent. It made a complete my career of my 2018 ASUS ROG strix. Don't expect to go very long on the battery even watching YouTube only goes an hour or two.

If you worried about coil whine, dont 2024-25
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had already wrote an entire review, just to have it deleted on my phone... I have the 4080, 14th gen core, 32gb ram, and 2tb version. I bought this during cyber monday and saved about 600 dollars roughly, on its price. I watched a lot of videos after i bought this, and even before about what I should buy and this was on every list in 2023, felt like it fell off in 2024 which i dont understand, maybe that was just because those versions didnt have 2tb, 32gb ram etc.. It's a beast, and I wouldnt change my purchase. So to talk about this coil whine that used to (apparently) be a thing. I have literally zero. I just have a fan noise, as expected with a laptop. I figure it was an early release models of this laptop back when they first released. Which doesnt sound odd at all to me. I cant really comment on how this performs without a cord plugged in, i didnt buy it to run around towns or places with. Just to move around my house, versus being locked to one room and space. I used to love that freedom, and I do again. I gave my pc the boot and it just idles. When it comes to how it runs, it runs like a pro. I have always had 120+ fps on all games I have played (helldivers 2, indiana jones lost circle, diablo 4, etc etc.) No need to go full indepth with games, it just hasnt had a single issue. Yes it is a laptop, it will run hot... that is what happens with laptops. I recommend either a llano or gets coolingpads (i havent used gets, just llano but they're kinda similar). They arent cheap but they are worth every penny, especially if you want your laptop to last long. As all of its exhaust is on the back and rear sides, it is literally perfect for this laptop either cooler (id assume but llano pref to me). Lot of intake on the bottom and through the keyboard there is another vent (seriously super helpful). I dont really run hot with it at all, slightly warm around the edge of the screeen area i guess usually around 75c gpu. cpu is lower. I looked at a ton of laptops for about 3-4 months before black friday and was initially gonna get a cheaper one around 1200 but, decided it wasnt even worth my time. This one will last way longer, and it is literally as i said this is a champ. Now the screen? It's so good for a laptop, im sure others talk about mini oled etc.. this has been by far the most vivid and brightest screen I have used on a laptop so I would not just say let me spend 300-400 more for oled. This does literally the job 10x if you are worried about it. Ontop of that, keyboard is full size I personally love it. It's perfect for my hands tbh. I dont really care for customizing the colors i just leave it red personally. Just me. OH, and i watched people or read people talk about bloatware... no??? I had none. I literally had zero things to uninstall, this install was so clean i had no worries. like 100% I recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a high mid tier laptop, you wont be disappointed. Especially if you want a 18'

Next-Level Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ASUS hits it out of the park again with this ROG Strix Gaming Laptop. At the heart of this computer is a 14th Gen Intel i9 processor, an NVIDIA RTX 4080, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB NVMe. These components bring enough power to handle the most demanding games. Design and Build This ROG Strix looks and feels amazing. The 18-inch screen is immersive, and with a 240 Hz refresh rate, gaming is buttery smooth for competitive games. There is also RGB lighting around the aluminum enclosure that is subtle and customizable. I like that it pulses red when the computer goes to sleep or while the lid is closed and charging. Gaming Performance -Red Dead Redemption 2: RDR2 is a visually stunning game that is full of detail and pushes computers to their limits. Using the Balanced preset with most settings set to Ultra and High, benchmarking resulted in an average FPS of 91 -Cyberpunk 2077: Cyberpunk is known for its Ray Tracing visuals and attention to detail. I wanted to see what exactly I could expect from this laptop, so I performed 3 benchmarks with different presets, and I was very pleased with the results: Ultra: 115 FPS Ray Tracing Ultra: 103 FPS Ray Tracing Overdrive: 71 FPS -3D Mark: Finally, I ran a Time Spy Test for the ROG Strix to see how it compares to other laptops and desktops. The results were a Graphics score of 18,189 and CPU score of 16,116. The craziest part was that these results matched and beat my friend's desktop PC with a 13th Gen Intel and RTX 3080. The ROG Strix showcases what a modern gaming laptop should be. It sets a high standard for gaming performance in a high-quality package. I'm very pleased with the Strix and feel confident that it will handle future games without issue.

Incredible Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent laptop so far. Huge upgrade from the over eight years old gaming ROG I had before, and the screen is bigger than I anticipated, but so far everything I run on it, even intensive stuff like latest games on ultra, runs super smooth on it and looks fantastic. The lighting on the laptop itself is fully customizable and stands out in a pleasant way. I've run into a few problems with Windows 11, but that's simply difficulties with the OS and some of the bloaty background processes it runs on default, which is an easy enough fix. The battery life and how hot the laptop can run leaves a lot to be desired, but either of those things aren't really big obstacles due to the way I usually have my setup running. I ultimately wasn't even going to replace my old laptop with another ROG even though I've never had problems with ROG. But in the end I got one anyway, but I must admit, this Strix is every bit worth the amount it cost.

Loving my ROG
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this for a couple of weeks, but so far I am very pleased. It is blazing fast and the screen is plenty bright and sharp. I'm just a beginner at gaming, but what I have played so far I have had no problems at all and at the highest of settings. I like the look of it and the build quality is good. The only issue I have is not having enough control over the RGB lighting. The armory crate is confusing to use and I can't find a control to turn off the strobing lights when it is in sleep mode. I haven't used it on battery only so I can't speak much on battery life yet. I was going to buy a Lenovo Legion, but it only came in 16" and I'm glad I got the larger 18". It is physically only slightly larger than my old Dell Inspiron 17", so it still fits in my computer carry bag. Overall, I would definitely buy again.

Performance monster
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is the best Laptop I’ve had. 18inch screen and 14 generation I9 processor, 4080 . 2 TB storage. The only shortage is the battery only can work about 1 hour without charging. It is normally for gaming laptops.

Good for creative work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Owned this laptop for about a year already and it's been pretty good despite the limitations of most laptops compared to desktops. The RGB lights are a bit much for me so I keep them low with a light purple shade. I primarily use this laptop for 3D modeling with blender and I haven't have any issues in terms of performance. I did get coil whine from the GPU or motherboard though whenever the mouse moves. It's only noticeable if you listen closely, but when you're gaming you won't hear it. I will say that I'm glad they did a tri fan instead of 2. It handles cooling quite well because of these. It can get warm in long term use or using max graphic settings. Overall It's nice.

Amazingly Big Beast
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome but huge laptop! As for how the laptop performs it runs great. Was able to throw premier pro at it, any work task, and it played games really well being a laptop. The only reason why it’s not a full 5 for me is the fact that it’s huge. I thought my backpack held a 16’’ no problem 2 inches extra should not make too much of a difference…. Not the case for me. Returned to get a 16inch instead. If you are needing this for travel or meetings off site 18’’ might be too big. If you are taking to and from work only, then this is well worth it. The extra screen real estate and numpad are awesome. Just not something I can travel with.

Fantastic Powerhouse Laptop for Gaming/Editing
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great brand of high performance laptops. I've never had an issue with any Asus ROG Strix products. This i9 processor and 32GB RAM out the box has handled everything I threw at it so far. The RTS 4080 12GB video card is absolutely top tier for editing and high end gaming. Thankfully, Asus has a second NVME M.2 SSD slot. Even though it comes with 2TB of hard drive space, I bumped it up to 6 TB. Asus knows what they're doing. Glad I was able to pick this up at Best Buy.

Would reccomend
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had it for a couple weeks now and I already like it. Its very sleek, thin, and lightweight. The 18” screen is a huge plus to me because I hate gaming on small screens. The computer doesn’t heat up as bad as my old ROG G16, but I haven’t used it to it’s full potential.. overall it’s definitely a solid 5! You’ll definitely need a big booksack to carry it unless you have a giant laptop bag. And a nice cooling fan would complete the set up!

Asus after 6 months of use
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this ASUS ROG laptop daily for about six months now, both for gaming and regular work. Performance-wise, it’s excellent. All modern games run on maximum settings without issues, load times are fast, and overall system responsiveness is very good. As a performance machine, it absolutely delivers. However, there are a few design and usability issues that became noticeable over longer-term use. 1. Battery and heat behavior In warmer room conditions, the battery seems to heat up more than expected. This doesn’t break functionality, but it feels like thermal management around the battery could be better, especially for users in hot climates or during long sessions. 2. Power connector design The charging port placement and connector design feel risky. If the cable is accidentally touched or pulled, it feels like it could damage the port. A more visible or illuminated connector (similar to what Alienware does) would significantly improve usability and safety, especially in darker rooms. 3. G-SYNC instability G-SYNC has been the most frustrating part. It frequently resets to default settings, and sometimes launching a game results in a black screen, requiring a restart and manual reconfiguration. This interrupts the experience and makes G-SYNC feel unreliable on this device. Overall, this is a very capable and powerful laptop, and I don’t regret the purchase. But some engineering decisions around thermals, power input design, and display synchronization take away from what could otherwise be a near-perfect experience. Great performance — but there’s room for refinement in usability and system stability.

Performance Matters
|Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[Employee of bestbuy] Great computer with powerful performance. The computer doesn’t get anywhere as hot as my previous gaming laptop from MSI. I am not a fan of the RBG light bar at the bottom of the laptop though, it’s honestly annoying. Battery life is not where I’d like it to be. It last maybe an hour even playing the most basic low pixel games and set to minimum power output in Nvidia settings, but that’s to be expected with how powerful it is.

Light bleed on bottom right of panel
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has some light bleed on bottom right above where the time and date are. It’s visible when the screen is completey black but not very much. Originally there was another one center bottom, but after reading another review that mentioned how they pressed the bezel around the light bleed area I tried it…..AND IT ACTUALLY WORKED! The light bleed in that spot completely went away! ————————————————————————————For some reason, I am not getting high fps for games such as Warzone and COD Multiplayer. On my last laptop(Alienware m16 4080 AMD) I averaged at least 160 fps but could go up past 200 fps on low settings. With this laptop on the same (normal) settings I barely get 110-120. Maybe I have to play with the settings more but I definitely didn’thave to do as much with the Alienware to get the high fps out of the box. ————————————————————————————I bought this laptop on sale for $2200. I probably would have bought a desktop for the current full price. Overall decent PC fir the sale price, but for full price I’d look at desktop options.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasnt sure what to expect buying this laptop. I haven't had a gaming PC in over 15yrs. First its big. I travel a lot for work and I wish I knew how heavy it was going to be. With that said, this computer is awesome. Runs all of the newest triple A games with ease. The screen is very nice and I also like the keyboard. Overall I would by this computer again but probably a 16" next time to reduce weight.

Great laptop! Crashes at times.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop is great! Quality is awsome. Only issue I have (and this mainly happens when it’s not plugged in) is it tends to crash ALOT. Gets frustrating at times. ESP when I’m doing work and all of a sudden it turns off. Battery obviously will last you maybe 1-2hrs on performance. Otherwise it can handle anything you throw onto it it!

Beast of a machine
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so yood! I bought this computer for photo editing, snd it id a BEAST. My old computer was crashing for multiple reasons, and I waited about 2 years to try and find the right machine for me. I think this should hold me stable for quite a while since it seems to be expandable! The lights are a super cool touch that although are superflous, but also very fun. The screen is interesting though. Its not your typical size and is actually quite square. The computer is massive, so expect to need to buy a new laptop case if you do not already have a beast of a laptop. Its not going to fit in most. The batter life is not as long as I expected while working in lightroom, but given what its doing ill take the 1.5ish hours of time without a chord.

Huge, fast laptop with everything you need
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had some time to use this laptop, and it has performed very well. The build quality seems solid, and the audio quality during gaming is surprisingly crisp and loud. During initial setup, there was some sluggishness with the system.after fully updating everything, it still took a few days of use for the system to actually “settle in” and perform as intended. Since then, I have had zero issues. Gaming performance is solid. The specs are fantastic for the price I paid. I purchased it on sale, and I’m glad I did. If you’re looking for a huge screen and to play the latest games, this is the one for you. I installed a 2TB SSD to store my games, and I do not install any to the OS SSD. Also, battery life when mobile is great on silent mode, it lasts for 3-4 hours. Buy it. You won’t be disappointed.
