A Step Backward for Premium Expectations

As a long-time ASUS enthusiast—having owned the 990FX Sabertooth, Crossblade Ranger, and excellent X470-F Gaming—I expected the X870-F Gaming WiFi to be a premium upgrade for my Ryzen 9 9800X3D build. Instead, it feels like a mid-range board with flashy VRMs, RGB, and a steep $400+ price tag ($200 more than the X470-F when I bought it). It’s functional but underwhelms for premium buyers. Pros: Looks and Reliability: Sleek design with customizable RGB and a robust 16+2+2 VRM for overclocking. ASUS’s build quality inspires confidence in long-term reliability. Connectivity: Four M.2 slots (with PCIe 5.0), WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and solid I/O (2x USB4, HDMI, DisplayPort). BIOS updates are easy—latest version applied smoothly. Cons: Poor Audio: The SupremeFX ALC4080 is a integrated USB controller, with worse sound quality and fewer features than the X470-F’s S1220A codec. A clear downgrade. Memory Issues: QVL-listed RAM (Corsair CMP96GX5M4B6000C30 at 6000 MT/s, Kingston Fury KF560C30BBEK2-64 at 6000 MT/s) underperforms despite BIOS updates. Both will only boot at 5600 or 5400 depending on the kit. ASUS support offered no help. Availability: Took six weeks to find in stock (via Best Buy). Value: Prioritizes RGB over practical upgrades, lacking the premium polish of the X470-F. Even something as simple as USB headers are sparse. We should have at least 4 USB 2.0 Headers, and I'd say 2 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 3.1 is just minimum for this price range. But it's got a bunch of RGB! For budget upgraders, the X870-F might impress. For ROG loyalists, it’s a sidegrade at best. I'm not willing to return, but wouldn't buy again.

Need to update Bios for 9800x3d

Only issue I ran into with this motherboard is it's NOT ready out the box for 9800x3D CPUs ; you have to update the bios in order for that CPU to work. It's not hard, but is a bit annoying since you need a USB drive and need to download the correct bios files in order to update it. Aside from that issue it's a good motherboard with plenty of connections for peripherals. Asus bios is just much better/cleaner/simpler than other board manufacturers

The ROG Strix X870-F is an outstanding motherboard that delivers both performance and style. The build quality feels premium, with sturdy components and a sleek design that looks great in any setup. Installation was straightforward, and the BIOS is intuitive with plenty of options for both beginners and advanced users. The board handles high-speed DDR5 memory smoothly, and the PCIe 5.0 support future-proofs it for the latest GPUs and storage drives. I especially like the efficient cooling design and reliable power delivery, which keeps everything stable even under heavy loads. Overall, this motherboard is a fantastic choice for gamers and PC builders who want top-tier performance and reliability.

I Paired this with 9800x3d. I like the features of this board and I like the ascetics of it , very clean look. I think its a bit high priced for features since the since the X870-A is basically same board except white and $100 less I like ASUS mother boards very user friendly. I did have an issue, 1 that I am still working thru. first expo ... with corsair memory 6000mhx CZL30 I had to use expo 2 setting. Expo 1 was a no go. The issue I am still working thru is my Aio pump, originally connect to pump header on the mother board. mother board did not like that and gave an error so switched it to the CPU fan which will give me an error when I start my computer about 20% of the time . I restart the system and no issue . I'm thinking about putting it back on the Aio pump header and setting CPU fan to ignore. I do recommend this product I took 1 star off for price and this error issue .

Got this along with the 9800x3d and 64GB of Gskill 6000 ram, and recently purchased the 9070XT. It has had very small bugs in the beginning of course like all new products typically have, nothing real major, but this thing has ran like a beast and has been the best board I've gotten so far. Some people don't just give the company's time to work out small bugs so they post poor reviews. I've had mine for about 4 months although I've ran into very small issues, they've always been resolved with a bios update and or driver updates. This thing is running like a top now. I would definitely recommend this motherboard.

GREAT BOARD with little online reviews

I bought this board to replace a defective MSI X870E board. IT functions flawlessly, stays cool, took a bios update just fine, and all EXPO and overclocking settings work as expected. Asus has the best BIOS and software layouts in my opinion, and with this board the bios is in full HD which is a great thing if you are into tweaking! The only issue I had was the board didn't have proper Wi-Fi or Lan drivers installed, so you may need to use commands to bypass the required online connection with windows 11. After booting into windows, though, the ASUS dirverhub automatically installed the LAN driver, and from there started setting itself up without any input from me. Just make sure you do not let it install Norton!

This motherboard is top notch even though it’s a bit pricey. It has great overlocking support, or if you’re looking for something easier it even has AI overlocking. Looks great with aRGB support. No crappy usb 2.0 ports at all and lots of 5gb usb and 10gn usb ports. Build quality is great as well.

I upgraded to this ASUS MB and AMD processor from an intel I9. This was my first AMD setup and I could not be happier. The board has great features such as WiFI 7, USB 10GBS ports, 2.5GB ethernet ports...and the list goes on. Rock solid stable. Don't see a need to overclock as this board is great. Just a little tune on the memory. **Make Suer you upgrade the BIOS to current version**

Works great when paired with a 9950X3D. I did do a bios flashback update before installing my new CPU. Has all the features I need as well as PCIE 5.0 and 4 NVME slots. The only caveat I can see some people having is installing an AIO may be a bit tricky with the first NVME slot height.
