Many appreciate its lightweight nature and the vibrant display, although some users note that the device can get warm under heavy use and that the fan can be noisy at times. Great Powerful, Non-AniMe Matrix G14
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great, powerful laptop. Can run virtually anything. Perfect for college usage. As an engineering student, there is enough RAM and a powerful processor to run Solidworks like a charm. Runs any coding language and virtual machines run great. I would recommend upgrading the non-soldered 8 gb RAM stick to 16 GB as for maximum 24 GB RAM if you want maximum VM performance. Games such as League run at 200 FPS, Shadow of War 130 FPS, and Assassins Creed Origins 100 FPS. Only downside is that you must configure ArmoryCrate and Nvidia RTX settings to utilize the 3060 GPU and to reduce fan noise. I don’t think fan noise is bad actually once these setting are fine tuned.

Almost perfect, highly recommend!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used this now for a couple of days pretty heavily, testing what's important to me. My Use Case: Using for college and on the go gaming. I have a top tier high end 4k gaming desktop I built but needed something for on the go, vacations, away from home studying, etc. This is a secondary gaming pc for me. It will default to 150% screen size, drop down to 125% to prevent some hazing on texts or blur issues. 100% seems too small. Pros: - Armory Crate: a pretty good control program for the laptop. Power profiles and battery settings make it easy to switch from low power general use to high power gaming or rendering. I have mine set so on battery life it sips power, downclocking cpu and turning off the 3060 to use the integrated vega graphics. with dropping panel brightness to 40%-50%, I'm getting around 11 hours of use using the silent mode. Switching to Performance or Turbo boosts clocks high and cranks fan speed to allow for high refresh 1080p gaming. - the 5800HS is blazing fast and handles multitasking and gaming very well. it does run a bit toasty depending on which power profile you use (armory crate). silent mode general use has the cpu around 40-50c, while gaming will see it boost up to 65-80c on performance or turbo. - the 3060 mobile maxes out at 80w, so there are higher tdp 3060 mobiles out there, but this holds up extremely well. Performance is most comparable to a GTX 1080 desktop gpu. Now depending on the power profile you're using, fan noise can ramp up a decent amount, and because laptop fans are small, they are louder. Using the performance profile, the noise was acceptable, turbo mode kicks that up a bit. Using headphones it doesn't matter either way. I didn't see temps go over 75c and usually stayed closer to 65c. - keyboard is lit with white and you can dim or turn off if it's not needed. there are a couple of light mode profiles you can use as well. Feels good when typing, solid. - build quality is great. Sturdy, heavy, does not feel cheap. The panel is kind of flimsy but most laptops are these days. opening with one hand on either side is best to not put pressure to one side. laptop does not lift up when opening the screen (dont need to put one hand on the base to open). Looks incredible and sleek, very premium feel. - 16gb 3200mhz dual channel ram provides more than enough for gaming or any other task you'd throw at this tier of laptop. - the size is amazing. compact and small enough to fit into smaller carry bags or laptop backpacks. perfect for on the go. If you're going to be using it as a main gaming laptop at a desk most of the time, i would opt for a larger panel laptop just for the convenience. Cons: - panel could be brighter but is very usable and provides a great experience. Panel has minor ghosting that is noticeable with grays or blacks and whites. not as bad as I've seen other places and seems better than a lot of VA monitors that are used for gaming. (this panel being IPS) - 512gb isn't a ton of room after OS takes up some. if your looking for a gaming laptop to be your main system - go for a 1tb simply for the game storage. I find 512gb to be fine since i don't have a ton of games installed at once. I don't store a lot of files on this either as I transfer to my main desktop.

At first it was great but in the end, disappoint..
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this laptop when I first got it, it was fast, great form factor, nice keyboard, and looked good. But after a few months when playing games it got really hot when gaming, the fans got super loud, and there was a lot of stuttering and sometimes slow downs during game play. Also DO NOT USE THE ASUS Armory Crate software it is not well optimized and causes performance issues at times, don't believe me Google it and look at forum discussion's about it. Fast forward about 3-4 weeks ago, machine still has heat issues even with adjusting power and CPU usage and boost clock the machine continues to stutter and run hot and loud. I eventually removed the heat sink to find that the center part of the heat sink for the CPU had what appeared to be a burn mark or scorch mark on it, Googling this others with the same/similar model had similar issues. I replaced the thermal paste on it and this cooled things down by a lot and also quieted it the machine. Now my games were performing well again and it wasn't screaming, I thought victory! But this was shorted lived, about a week or two after this the machine suddenly would not play any games, I tried everything (clean install of drivers, Windows updates, driver updates, bios update, etc.), every game was a stuttery, laggy, mess and most games and even FurMark was doing no better then 8-10 FPS, checked task manager said it was only using 0.1 of the dedicated video ram, and was barely being utilized. A hardware monitor tool I use said the GPU was consuming 650 watts, which is physically impossible as the GPU at max could do 100-150 watts, and the power supply is only 300 or 320 watts. After more Googling and checking ASUS's website I find out this has happened to others for the model, and because apparently this particular model is a Best Buy exclusive ASUS will not offer any direct support and they tell you have to take it to Best Buy. The forum post I read basically said they the first attempt to RMA/depot repair it resulted in it not being fixed and in the end Best Buy issued a refund/credit for a new laptop. ASUS used to be quality but it seems they have gone down hill. I will likely not be buying a ASUS laptop in the future and I can't recommend this or similar models in good faith. Hopefully I end up getting a refund in the end and can use that money to buy another machine as I kind of don't want it anymore. In the end the machine only lasted 9 months, thankfully before the warranty expired.

Portable Gaming Excellence
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus 14" FHD Gaming Laptop, equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics, and a 144Hz display in Moonlight White, is a portable powerhouse designed for gaming enthusiasts. After thorough use, here's my take on its strengths and limitations. Pros: 1. Impressive Performance (5/5): Powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics, this laptop delivers outstanding gaming performance. It handles modern games with ease, offering high frame rates and smooth gameplay. 2. Portable Design (4/5): The Zephyrus' slim and lightweight design makes it a highly portable gaming laptop. Its Moonlight White finish adds a touch of elegance to the overall look. 3. High Refresh Rate Display (4/5): The 144Hz FHD display ensures a fluid gaming experience with sharp visuals and minimal motion blur. It's also suitable for content creation and productivity tasks. 4. Fast Storage (4/5): The 512GB PCIe SSD provides ample storage space for games and applications, while delivering fast read and write speeds for quick load times. 5. RGB Keyboard (4/5): The customizable RGB keyboard allows you to personalize the laptop's aesthetics and create a unique gaming setup. It's also comfortable for extended typing sessions. 6. Connectivity (5/5): The laptop offers a good selection of ports, including USB-C, HDMI, and multiple USB-A ports, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of peripherals. Cons: 1. Display Brightness (3/5): While the display is fast and vibrant, it may struggle with outdoor visibility due to its limited brightness in well-lit environments. 2. Fan Noise (3/5): During intense gaming sessions, the laptop's cooling fans can become relatively loud, which may be distracting in quiet environments. 3. Battery Life (3/5): Like many gaming laptops, the Zephyrus' battery life is modest, particularly when running resource-intensive tasks. Expect to be tethered to a power source for extended gaming sessions. 4. Webcam Placement (4/5): The integrated webcam is positioned at the bottom of the display, resulting in unflattering angles during video calls. An external webcam may be preferred for better positioning. Conclusion: In conclusion, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 14" FHD Gaming Laptop in Moonlight White offers impressive gaming performance in a portable and stylish package. Its combination of the AMD Ryzen 7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics ensures that you can enjoy demanding games with high settings. However, it does come with some trade-offs, including limited display brightness, fan noise under heavy load, and modest battery life. If you're a gamer on the go or someone who needs a versatile laptop for both gaming and work, the Zephyrus is a strong contender. Its slim profile, high refresh rate display, and ample storage make it an excellent choice for those who value both portability and gaming performance. Just be mindful of its battery life limitations and consider your usage scenarios accordingly.

Decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent computer. Graphics are good and it runs smoothly, although has closed out and down randomly a few times. The touchpad is very sensitive, even when adjusted, and has closed right clicked or closed out of tabs at very inconvenient times. I recommend a mouse. The fan can be loud and i feel like it should have a webcam. Also this is NOT the computer with the lights.

Top tier for the price - just buy a fan
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Present for wife so she could game with me. Runs better than my 2016 Acer desktop which is starting to fall behind on tech. The screen is small for my taste but she has no problem with it. Super light weight. This runs everything we play without any lagging. Tested for 7D2D Hogwarts Legacy, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Sims, etc. Incredible power for a good bargain and we wont need to upgrade it for awhile. The only downside is that we had to buy a new desk with a fan after noticing that the fan was running pretty hard after about an hour of gameplay. We got a basic desk with a usb fan for like $35 on amazon and it runs fine.

Good performance, at a cost.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works well, its a good spec computer that can run the Esports titles ive thrown at it with ease on high settings. Had to wind down the settings to medium for Fortnite and it gets 100+ FPS on the 1080p 144 hz screen. Using it for schoolwork, I put it in Silent mode, which as the name suggests, silent. Make sure youre in a cooler room, because as far as i can tell it completely turns off the fans. While gaming with the Turbo or Performance modes in armoury crate, it is LOUD. The fans on turbo can crank up to over 5000 rpm, and its a noisy little monster. Performance mode can be audible, but not moreso than any background noise or an AC. Final gripe, the keyboard is kind of weird and the backlighting isnt the best. Keys feel fine. And theres no Webcam, so youll need to link to your phone, which you can do, or buy a webcam and plug it in.

Good computer for just performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a good computer with great performance but was annoyed by how loud the fans were and the default configuration of the computer. Although people say its not as gaudy as other gaming laptops this one still is pretty flashy, especially on boot up. The screen is nothing to right home about either.

too loud and heats up too much. Not recommended.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer because it was $600 in offer from its original price all the specs seems good at first, but when I turned it on, I realized that it started hitting up too much. It felt weird knowing that gaming laptops are not good at maintaining a good temperature .when I wasn’t playing any games the fan was running too fast and loud. I ended up returning it and buy predator Helios, which doesn’t have any of this heating issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from ASUS Answers
Posted .Dear Erik,
We do understand your concern about the fan noise and the heat.
It is normal just like any other brand with the same hardware configuration, for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates noise louder than normal while the laptop is under heavy load like gaming, especially during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Also, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. Please check the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application. While gaming, please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. Also, check that no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle and noise will be louder than normal. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this Gaming Laptop is Great but there is some flaws I see but nothing to serious you see when opening a application which is like a medium or large file fans will start going fast trying to cool off the laptop. Also this computee gets hot fast maybe like 10 min or more the computer gets hot so yea. But that’s all I gotta say I’d say this computer is great tho if your using it plugged in at least because the computer’s battery goes out somewhat quick

Good, but….
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Outside of the pain point of this laptop, the device isn’t so bad. It actually handles the load of most modern games. The only major complaint I have f the device is that the fan was incredibly loud and would disturb others in the room and myself during heavy gameplay. Outside of that like I said is a great device to have or own if you can overlook the loud obnoxious fan.
