|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right off, I can tell you this is a fantastic portable gaming solution for those on the go or who have very little space to work with. The style, comfort and performance hit all the marks I was hoping it would and then some. As with any new computer you will need to spend a little time updating Windows along with some Asus programs like Armory Crate to get this laptop up to speed out of the box. There is zero bloatware and that is a big bonus in my book. Now, there is no front facing camera. That could be a feature to some who do not want one at all for whatever reason. I’ve become accustomed to signing in with Windows Hello on most of my machines which isn’t an option here. However, there is a built-in fingerprint sensor on the power button that helps streamline that process a little. But that is a very small price to play considering the use case for this laptop. The heat dispersion is excellent due to the construction, materials used and the abundance of vents present. It does come at the expense of a little bit of fan noise. And that can be a moot point if you have headphones on. If not, it can be a little bothersome if the fan profile is on anything other than silent and it’s generating heat. And dropping it down to silent mode does automatically reduce the refresh rate to 60 MHz as opposed to the 144 MHz that is advertised and comes on right of the box with no adjustment in the screen resolution advanced settings. Outside of standard updates, I did nothing else to tune this laptop to attempt to get any better performance. And it still performed really well. It chewed through 3D Mark testing and was silky smooth in some actual gaming testing.
