Solid gaming laptop with good graphics and processing speed; had to return the first one for an exchange because of a bad manufactured key. The fan can be loud and if used for gaming the computer itself will get pretty hot. Otherwise build quality is good for the price.

To be completely fair, I'm coming out of a horrible relationship with a previous laptop (quality control issues) and was terrified to get a new one, especially considering this would be my most expensive laptop (my budget is rather small, and even then i could only consider this because it was on sale). I'll try to update again in a few months, but for the short weeks i've had this, it's a wonderful laptop. I've been able to play a couple of games on here(nothing super impressive; think super monkey ball or less), and it handled itself well. My favorite part has been the battery life. It's a gaming laptop, so if you're running call of duty, it'll die in hours. As a student though, as long as I charge it the night before, I don't have a single worry about it making it through a day of classes and general use. On the high end, I've gotten 10 hours, though I'm more around 7-8 on average. Even if the battery is running low, it charges so quickly that a lunch break near an outlet will put you in a beautiful position for the rest of the day. The speakers are pretty solid. My last laptop only had them under the computer, so I'm not gonna complain lol. My one concern is that it does run hot. Off you're just in general use, it's not a coven, but when you're running a game or doing heavy work, it's noticeable. There are tutorials on how to drop the temp by a few degrees and it has decent ventilation, it's just... hot. You can feel it through the keyboard when it starts getting too high.

What a beast of a laptop. This handles every game I have thrown at it. It runs Windows 11 perfectly smooth. I do have some recommendations when it comes to setting up this laptop. First, make sure to update all the drivers. Since this is an all AMD machine just download AMD Adrenalin. It will automatically update all of your drivers for you. Second, if you plan on gaming with XBOX Game Pass uninstall GamingServices and reinstall it. When you reinstall it it does bug out and you need to go to program and features > search Gaming Services > then hit repair. This machine runs absolutely everything I have thrown at it. I game at 1080p (I cannot really make comments on normal resolution) but it has ran every game at Ultra / High settings. The only concerning thing is that the machine runs extremely hot. I guess it is completely normal (you can click CTRL F5 to TURBO the fans). I was seeing CPU temperatures reach right about 95*C. Even running hot the computer refuses to thermal throttle. If you are looking to game portably grab this guy as soon as you can! What an amazing laptop.

This laptop is a generation behind the current, but the entire package is well worth it, especially if it's on sale. Don't let the all AMD build scare you, everything here is sufficiently powerful to run the most up-to-date games and apps. It is a little heavier than a standard Ultrabook, but the added weight from the dedicated GPU is worth it for performance. Finally, the battery is astounding but requires some min-maxing with the settings. Still, overall this is a fantastic machine with a great display.

    Great New Features for 2022

I purchased the 2022 G14 with 6700S to replace the 2020 G14 with RTX 2060. Some of the stand out features to me were the brighter, 16:10, high resolution display, larger trackpad, added webcam, and new design. For me, the new CPU, GPU, and PCIe 4.0 were expected to be lackluster upgrades. I have been very happy with the features that were the selling points for me (the display, webcam, and trackpad). The new design is actually a bit of a mixed bag. The purple logo plate looks terrible compared to the old model's silver version. Not sure what they're going for here. I'm not sure if the old version was metal for sure but it looked like it. This one looks like shiny plastic and it's a fingerprint magnet. The redesigned top lid is also a bad move. The new bottom edge has some exposed metal that is sharp. The new all-white design for the main body of the laptop is also kind of mixed. I like that is is all-white but it is a different white from previous. The old one was an eggshell white while this one is more of a pearl white. The old one overall looks more sophisticated and like it belongs in a work setting which is where 80% of my use is. This has a slightly more "fun" aesthetic that comes across to me as somewhat cheap or like a toy. Battery life is improved a little over the previous 2020 laptop. It is still excellent for a gaming laptop but not revolutionary beyond that. Performance and GPU features are a big deal for me and I don't like that this new model is all AMD and loses DLSS and competent ray-tracing. The 2060 laptop still outperforms this laptop with DLSS on in any game that supports it and it also out performs this laptop in ray-tracing. Based on community benchmarks vs my own I lost the silicon lottery but it's within a reasonable margin. Even with an ideal/binned unit you can expect worse performance from this GPU than an RTX 2000/3000 series GPU in DLSS and/or ray-traced games. Ultimately I'm not disappointed with my purchase because these features are worth the upgrade and I think the value proposition here is still very good with the new features considered. The brighter, better display and webcam are features they could have cut to keep the price closer to the previous comparable models but I'm glad they didn't. Overall a solid upgrade if your coming from the 2020 model or an 2+ year old laptop generally and you're missing some of the features I highlighted here. If you are looking for a significant performance boost and your coming from a newer laptop or you already have a laptop with these quality of life features I would look elsewhere.

Amazing laptop, wish I could give 4.5⭐️ if you buy any asus gaming laptop, uninstall armoury crate immedietly its plagued with issues, really bad issues like blue screens, sudden restarts and more worse, plus the cpu being so hot in idle. Install g helper instead, much better all issues went away, another issues with laptop is they state its all aluminum, in fact the under cover is not while the rest is, the undercover is made out of cheap plastic, it breaks easily and can snap when upgrading or trying to remove it. Battery life is fantastic over 8 to 9 hours for light use. Screen is amazing.

I'm sitting here writing this review using this laptop! Out of box it took very little time to set up, I've found Armory Crate to be easy enough to interact with for controlling power efficiency, network prioritization, and other useful modifications. I love the battery life protection feature to limit charging for a) regular off-mains use b) continuously plugged in long term. These are likely standard premium laptop features, but this has been big value +. Size and weight are exactly what I wanted, although I wish the charger was smaller. Processor and graphics card are super well integrated and fast, but I can't offer much here since my old PC was a budget HP 15" laptop they just called "HP-15t". The screen quality for me is great, no off color/tint issues. I appreciate the WQXGA resolution and . Best of all, with 16GB memory and 1TB space, I don't have to do any modifications to meet my spec needs. I may upgrade memory down the line, but it's nothing urgent. I wish the laptop was offered in a darker color, as white _will_ inevitably will get dirty with use. Also note, this laptop does not have the AniMe LED Matrix on the back of the screen. This is either a plus or minus depending on your tastes. The keyboard has a nice tactile feel, but you do have to make sure to press hard enough. Paid at full price and feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

A fast and powerful laptop that plays well with Windows and Linux. Great keyboard for typing on, and the screen is fantastic. I would like to see the Dark Grey variant available in the US, but that seems relegated to Europe for some reason. Gets hot while gaming, but that's not a surprise due to its small size. Some of the ASUS software is annoying, that can be replaced with open source alternatives that work better.

I selected this laptop after about a year searching to see what laptop would be the best fit for a light to moderate gamer. The design, speed and display are all golden for this 14 inch form factor. The battery, on the other hand is average at best. I knew going into it a small laptop would not have the best battery life, although advertised as one. I am lucky to get around 2 hours of battery playing a game like Minecraft, I can only imagine the battery life for a bigger more graphic demanding game. Below I’ll list the times I would get after* I changed the laptop to:Optimized and silent in the armory crate. googling/browsing web: 9/10 hours Youtube: 5/6 hours Streaming: 5 hours Playing Minecraft: 1:30/2 hours (with changing graphic settings to fast instead of fancy)

Although not a gamer, I buy the Asus ROG laptops because of the other features. This one is lightweight, the screen is sharp, the solid state drive is fast and RAM is more than enough for most uses. Mine did not get very warm for my use but as I said I'm not a gamer and I rarely have it on my lap. Pricing at Best Buy was excellent as was availability. Fast shipping too! Overall I am very happy with this laptop.

In basic aspects such as performance, display quality, and weight, this gaming laptop is near perfect! If you are looking for a light and cost-effective gaming laptop out there, this is definitely the right choice. I was able to comfortably play Minecraft, Cities Skylines, and other games that I play with many mods installed. My only disappointment is the battery life. I have it set to battery save mode when not connected to a power source, but even so, watching YouTube for about 3 hours consumes most of the battery. It will need to be connected to a power source at all times when in use.

I wanted to get a small but capable laptop with decent battery life. This ticked all the boxes and has been a pleasure to use. I use it mostly for schoolwork, but also use it to play games when I travel for work. For light task I can usually get 8-10 hours of battery life. It also hasn’t had any problems playing any modern game. Only complaint is the keyboard backlight, which is inconsistent with its brightness.

This laptop finally solved my search for a decent computer that can be used at home and on the go. Though it is a gaming laptop, it has excellent screen color calibration and brightness, making it a great work laptop as well. I am a teacher, but also love to game and do photography so this laptop really fits both of my needs better than most. The speakers are great but could be a little better at a lower volume. I remember trying the first version of this laptop years ago before returning it since it didn't have a webcam or SD card, and the screen was only 1080p. This laptop solved all of those issues by being 2560X1600, adding a decent webcam with Windows Hello, and a microSD card slot. All of these changes add up to a fantastic laptop that is versatile and adaptable. The ability to use the MUX to switch between dedicated graphics and integrated graphics is a serious boon to the battery life of this laptop. Also, it kind of makes me think that it has a "work mode" vs a "play mode" of sorts. While I haven't used an AMD graphics card in a while (the last couple of computers have been NVIDIA) I do not lack graphics performance. This thing is much quieter and better at maintaining temperatures than most gaming laptops, I imagine it is because it has the vapor chamber cooling and liquid metal (Thanks LTT for the review and teardown). It honestly is able to run every single game I can throw at it well. The combo of Ryzen and RDNA 2 architecture makes this laptop compelling in more ways than one. As someone who has had both Windows and Mac laptops in the past. This is the closest that a company has come to being like Apple's M1 architecture in closely shifting and using shared memory in my opinion. While comparing this to the M1 which was my last laptop before I sold it to a friend, the battery life is not as good as that much lower watt processor, but it is great for a gaming laptop running Windows. Comparing this to a Macbook M1 Pro (I had originally switched to that before exchanging it for this laptop) there are a lot of obvious differences. Sure the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro has a better screen and battery life with some decent ports, it just isn't the laptop for me. This laptop fits better my needs for gaming and still doing my photography hobby. The other big reason why I exchanged the MacBook Pro for this laptop is end-user serviceability. This laptop has a removable SSD, WiFi, and one SO-DIMM slot to upgrade (shame they felt like sodering one of the chips to the motherboard). It also is just more repairable than any MacBook. (This is according to LLT video on YouTube, I haven't opened the laptop yet) I also will say that being in Apple's ecosystem might seem cozy, but there are fundamental things they are doing to further isolate themselves from the industry. This is a far cry from the Intel transition years ago. All in all, if you are someone looking for excellent performance on the go and don't want to be locked into Apple's ecosystem and their weird decisions about GPUs this is a great laptop for you. Obviously, if you wouldn't consider a MacBook then this laptop is a great choice in the plethora of Windows options. Honestly, I am glad I went with this laptop instead of a Mac because while I am impressed by Apple's ARM transition, it continues to be the worst offender in controlling the user experience. At least with this laptop if I finally decide to make the jump to Linux after I have had it for a while. I can! I hope this review helps someone when it comes to making a buying decision.

This is my first "gaming laptop" after years of playing games on "regular" laptops. After using it for a little while now I would say that while no powerhouse, this is a really good laptop for the casual gamer, and a darn useful laptop for everyday tasks as well. As far as I can tell, there are really two things that separate gaming laptops for all other laptops; esthetics and dedicated graphics packages. This laptop has both to please the gamers. Right out of the box, it is abundantly clear that this laptop is being marketed at the gamer crowd with packaging that makes it look like it's part of an in-game supply drop, a shell that is trying really hard to say I'm cool, and an interface that makes opening a Word document feel like an in-game task. The keyboard lights up lots of colors. The word "Gamer" shows up all over. Basically, all the things one associates with a gaming laptop. Rather than get bogged down on the looks, I would like to point out a couple of specific design features that I think are worth noting. First, when the screen is flipped up, the back-side/bottom of the screen acts as a short but effective support that creates an air gap between the bottom of the laptop and the table top below. This space is essential as it helps keep the laptop cooler as the additional graphics hardware appears to create a great deal more heat than does my more business-like laptop with otherwise similar capabilities. The vents on either side of the laptop are also quite large to help ventilate the interior workings and the fans are a bit loud (though not terrible). My only complaint is that the size of the vents does force the interface ports farther forward than normal for laptops I have used, and causes them to feel a bit squished together with multiple peripherals plugged in. Even with these design features, this laptop gets much warmer than I am used to, even when working on mundane tasks. Even when gaming though, I never felt like it became dangerously hot. One thing that I would point out is that the look, feel and overall design of the case is very plasticky to me. I know plenty of lousy laptops live in anodized aluminum shells, but there is just something about the case that reminds me more of an early 2000's portable DVD player, than a higher capability laptop. The screen is really quite nice. At 14" it is a good size for me without getting too big or too small. In operation it packs a lot of vibrant color, is very bright, and is extremely crisp. I am a frequent photo editor and this screen just works great for that kind of work as well as it does (possibly even better) with in-game graphics. Comparing the screen to a 65" 4k set while playing your favorite shooter may not be fair, but from the length of my arms away it looked every bit as good. The refresh rate on this laptop really makes a big difference when gaming as I saw a big difference between this laptop and my more traditional "business" machine running the same games at the same resolution. I didn't think it would really make that much of a difference, but I was really impressed. The speakers are ok, but a bit on the thin side, which is about what I would expect. I think the assumption is that most people are using a headset while gaming anyway. Likewise, the integrated webcam and mic were ok, but just average, and I really didn't expect much from them anyway. I recognize that with just 16 gb of RAM, this laptop is not anywhere the high end for gaming laptops. In my use, as a more casual gamer, and someone that does a lot of watching videos and images I found this laptop to be more than acceptable. Boot up is extremely zippy, navigating through different tasks is quick, and this laptop runs pretty darn well even with a lot of different processes going at once. I'm no elite gamer for sure (my son regularly mocks my abilities), but this is plenty of machine for me to wring some enjoyment out of. I will mention again that the harder I pushed it, the hotter that it got, so I would absolutely recommend keeping this laptop on a nice solid surface and off the carpet or blankets at all times. I think this would be a great laptop for an older child that is into gaming, likes cool looking tech, but still needs to be able to do the occasional schoolwork on his or her laptop. As an adult with somewhat childish tendencies, I like that this laptop gives me a portable gaming option that exceeds the abilities of my "work" laptop without completely breaking the bank.

Honestly better than expect, I did not need a gaming laptop but price per dollar this was the best option. Beautiful display (touch would be nice but 120hz is a nice substitution) , great keyboard and mouse, and okay battery life. Honestly better than my surface pro 8 by a long shot! If it's on sale, you can not beat the price / performance of this machine.

Bought to run mostly Linux for coding and Amateur radio. Yes, it is blistering fast, in a small package, but this necessarily comes with battery drain. Ryzen-9's 16 cores work well, all sharing tasks regardless of operating system. Code-compilation in record time! SSD also impressively speedy. Why only 4 stars? The Radeon graphics chip pair also works at impressive speed, though a second (HDMI) monitor can slow things down. Windows, Ubuntu fine, Arch not so much. Linux loves this machine, but only recent releases support this newer chipset easily. As a portable games machine, excellent!
