I love this laptop. It looks great: the features that comes with Armoury Crate make it look even better syncing keyboard light with the wallpaper; its small form factor makes it look even better. The battery life is great, I work for hours and still have plenty of battery left. I play varied games on it and it had handled all of them really well. I connect it to a 4K TV to play and there's no lag. The more or less bad thing about it is that it can get really hot, but it stays 100% cool if I set it to Silent mode on Armoury Crate. It gets hot anyway while gaming, but that's it, it's a compact gaming laptop. I thought about buying the Razer Blade but am totally satisfied with this laptop and really don't regret having bought it - I just love it.

Overall the laptop is good, the only problem I have is I had to get a high powered cooler for it because it gets HOT. Fast and easy to travel with BUT you need that cooler or else it might overheat with heavy gaming.

This laptop has been very good. Keyboard - check, trackpad - check, responsive screen…you get the point. I added a 32 gb stick of memory and this laptop handles games pretty well and also handles some demanding productivity apps. The cpu can run a little hot at times and I was initially concerned, but after owning this laptop for over a year I’m not worried. Go ahead and get it if it fits your needs, you won’t be sorry.

This thing is a beast of a laptop when it comes to performance vs size and weight. I don't think much can compare other than the newer 40 series of the same model. However, the chassis gets very hot. I saw many online reviews about this, but thought to myself, it really can't be that bad right? I was sorely mistaken. This laptop can get uncomfortably hot near the side vents and also near the top/right of the keyboard near the screen. I'd only recommend this if you don't ever plan to use this on your lap.

This is one amazing machine. If you have the patience to do a bit of hands on changes, it becomes a better amazing machine. Battery life is great, the cpu gets warm, but is easily managed and the laptop is built to withstand that heat. Keyboard and trackpad are phenomenal, as are the speakers. Ease of connection to an external monitor is a plus. If you happen to like Linux, and want a portable laptop, you’re in good hands.

A nice looking computer with a beast inside. It is fast, really fast. Compared to Gen 10 Core i7 I used to have, it is more than 5x faster on everything. It also gets hot. A laptop fan is higher recommended.

Very good laptop for portability and speed. Battery life is also very good. People will say it runs hot, but truthfully it only runs hot in Turbo mode (duh). I run it on silent for simple tasks, and performance for gaming and it runs at perfectly fine temperatures in those modes.

Terrible Cooling or Terrible QC Issues

To start, the device is beautiful. Design is simply stunning, its nice compact and has a screen with colors that jump out like no other gaming laptop I've tried in its price class. The keyboard feels amazing as well, nice key travel. The battery is even pretty good in my test for a day or work/school with light tasks HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER This device cannot perform whatsoever under load. It'll IMMEDIATELY hike up to near max temps and start to throttle. Its idling 50-65 as well... I spent more time than any consumer should tinkering with this machine updating drivers, windows, BIOS and following online examples of custom profiles to try with armoury crate to limit wattage and find a nice balance. There wasn't one, it was as if there wasn't any thermal paste whatsoever or something terrible and its supposed to be liquid metal???? This chamber cant keep this device cooled. I couldn't keep consistent frames in Fortnite or Apex which are E-Sports titles that have MOBILE versions (not the same I get it). Tinkering with graphics settings did nothing as the device was just throttling HEAVILY, the stutter was unreal no matter what game I tried to load up. I decided to return this device and not go with ASUS, even if it was just my device and a QC thing, the experience was so poor I'd never buy one of their devices again, its bad enough you have to spend time updating a brand new 2022 device out of the box, even more disturbing a gaming laptop cant even game. The typical consumer would also be lost attempting to go through the steps I went through just to make a BRAND NEW machine usable.... Theres plenty of horror stories of last years model as well with thermals I found researching attempting to fix this one... All in All ASUS seems to send youtube reviewers devices with proper thermal solutions but the QC isn't there for the devices they get into the hands of the consumers... Sending a brand new device into a manufactuer that could extend it out of my return window is simply not a solution. Hopefully ASUS will stop branding 30 different gaming laptops and focus on the QC of a select few.

      Dear Robert,

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Im not a super techy guy and never been big into PC gaming, but needed a laptop upgrade. I do game from time to time and wanted something smaller and lighter than what i currently had. This computer allows me to run the few games ive tried at medium to high settings with 60+ FPS. The only downfall i see with it right now after 1 week of use is the ASUS software seems spotty at times. Fans have kicked on at high RPMs at normal operating temp and the boot time seems slower than what im use to because of the ASUS splash screen. Other than that i love it!

    Best Laptop I've ever owned

I've had the chance to use this laptop for about a month. First thing you will notice is it's fast. Setup was easy, it even updated the bios without my assistance. You will want to turn off the rotating lights on the keyboard with Amory Crate Software. The display is bright, and colors are accurate. I like it better than my 2015 MacBook Pro. Keyboard backlighting is weak in the middle. Some keys are dim and hard to see. I had to turn brightness all the way up to see the keys. Typing feels good. The trackpad is great. Just as good as MacBook Pro. It even has tap to click enabled. Speakers sound full and plenty loud. There are four of them and I like the way they sound. You can log in using the built in camera with face recognition. The SSD that came with the laptop is about half as fast as it should be. I replaced mine with a 2 TB Western Digital 850x now I get close to 7000mbs Read and Write. This made a noticeable difference in load times and the laptop just felt quicker. I also replaced the one So-Dimm with 32gig stick for 40gig total. Laptop runs just fine, and I have had no issues. Just be aware this will run all the memory slower than using a 16gig stick. You need to decide what you need. I have played some games like Doom Eternal, and it runs smooth at high settings. Fans were not heard during game play. Compter will get hot in the middle of the keyboard towards the back. I was using Performance mode. If you're doing business apps the fans, never come on and computer temps are slightly warm. I bought my laptop on sale for $1,100.00. I worked in IT for over 40 years, and this is the best computer I have ever owned. I have owned over 50 computers. If you're a student, this is a great computer for you. It can do all of your schoolwork and play most games when you need to relax. 3D Animation and 4K Video Editing are also good with computer. This is one of the best 14-inch Laptops you can buy. I'm glad I bought this Laptop. It's a joy to use.

i like how small the system is for the power it packs. I don't play a lot of games but the games i play runs smoothly on the system. i mostly use it for academic purpose and all the software i use runs flawlessly and i have never heard the fan cranking up from those tasks. i really like this system and i would recommend it to those who don't play a lot of competitive games.

I love this laptop. I have no problems getting around 60 fps with settings on high. Don’t even try to play any games without it being plugged in. You will be lucky if the battery lasts more than 30 minutes. As for browsing on the internet, watching videos or any other task using the integrated graphics you can expect up to 6 hours on the battery.

The laptop itself runs very smoothly and it is very easy to use once it is set up. I did, however run into problems when setting it up. There are certain things that need to be downloaded, and they do not download and upload automatically. There is also drivers that needed updated, which caused the laptop to overheat until they were downloaded. There was no indication that there was any updates needed, I only found them by searching for the cause of the heating problem. Other than that, the laptop is very nice, and has minimal issues. It is worth the money, but only when it is on sale.

Sleek format, light and not clunky, I love the way this laptop is built. It runs high graphics smoothly and downloads anything I need quickly. Audio quality is fine, the built in camera is pretty normal compared to other laptops. The only downside is something common in most gaming laptops, it gets very hot when running anything more intense than web-surfing. The battery life is about two-three hours when running any game on it, and is about five or six when i'm using it for school. So make sure to bring the charger everywhere you go!

The laptop has overall been good to me. It is so fast and responsive. The build quality is excellent. The screen is bright enough to use indoors but not the best outside on a sunny day. I've had one issue with the laptop were the screen will stop working if I have it plugged in to the charger, but it seems to only happen if I turn on the laptop while it's plugged in. This laptop also runs hot on heavy use but is not a deal breaker for me. Like I said in the beginning, it is a good one.
