He was so glad cause his old one was broken and he thought hed have to still use it for school. He was so surprise that i bought it for him, he was so happy and hes been doing so much to show me he really appreciated it.i told him it wasnt necassay but he said " Well grandma, you spent so much for this, so i feel i need to show you hos graeful i am, i got it for a good price. And for the first month it was amazing to use (i upgraded from a 940mx). But around the 2 month mark everything started to go wrong. First the wifi card is terrible. Constant disconnections and slower speeds than my older laptop from 2018. Second the software is hit or miss. Sometimes through a update everything will get messed up and the temps will be out of control but other times it works just fine. Finally, around 2 months after i bought it a "pocket" between the bezel and the lcd started to appear on the cpu/left side of the computer. (this problem seems to be very common on the g15-g15). This pocket ended up expanding to the point where it put pressure on the hinge and dislodged it from the lcd area. Which also made it close incorrectly (closes slanted), which put pressure on the screen and cracked it (somehow!?!?). All of this happened just 2 months after i bought it without any drops or harsh usage, as it mostly stayed on my desk and occasionally went to school in a padded case and bag. My hypothesis is that since i used the performance preset which caused more heat to be expelled into the screen from the cpu side which caused this pocket. All i can hope is that the warranty will cover the replacement and get it back to me in a timely manner. Otherwise it is a fine computer the keyboard is good, not a fan of the sound the trackpad makes when you click it but its tolerable and I use a mouse. The screen gets bright and is very nice for gaming. If you are dead set on buying it BUY the warranty/total Tech to get a longer warranty in case it breaks. This experience is totally unacceptable for a 1600 dollar computer. It seems to fix every problem with the G14 of the previous years. 16:10 QHD screen with bright 500 nits. Camera was added. GPU power increased to 95w from 65w of previous years. AMD gpu wasn't a problem for me but some might prefer nvidia gpu for its functionality. The cpu isn't as powerful as 12th gen Intel but it's plenty fast and the battery life is so much better. However there's still a trade off as this is a relatively thin and light 14-inch laptop. Even with the improvements in cooling and efficiency it's just not as powerful as the thicker and bigger 15-inch laptops.
