Posted .Dear Hank,
We're sorry to hear about the battery and overheating issues you're having with this model. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed. In regards to the battery issue, we would recomemnd that you attempt the steps in the FAQ below to resolve this issue.
For more information send us an email at customerloyalty@asus.com and provide the link of this review for reference. We’ll do our best to provide a quick resolution to your case. Your feedback is important as it helps with improvements to ASUS Support channels.
Thank you for choosing ASUS.

Awesome small laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little laptop with a beautiful 16:10 screen, battery life is also very usable for non demanding tasks. For a thin and light laptop it’s also got some power, every modern AAA game I throw at it plays very smooth on high settings and with the display size and resolution sometimes looks better than my much more powerful desktop.

Good for a day
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Screen and battery life were amazing, however after a bios update the laptop started dropping fps like crazy during gaming. Itd go from the 90s to low 20s in battle. Tried rolling back the update, deleting re adding drivers etc, decided to go with the razer blade 14. The razer has had no issues and runs cooler to the touch imo

Trash product, trash support.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This right here is a piece of trash product. The laptop has been nothing but a pain in the butt since day one. I hardly ever leave a negative review because I usually do some research before buying something and it mostly pays off but the laptop itself and Asus support were abysmal. The screen would "smudge" away rapidly and turn black, the power cable sometimes didn't work and many times the laptop wouldn't boot no matter what I did. I thought it was a bios or some FW issue so I put up with it and kept updating it. I bought this laptop on July 10, 2022 and it completely crapped out on me on July 10, 2023. I immediately went to Bestbuy and ended paying $250 in repair cost. The BestBuy rep told me that they see this laptop come in for repair all the time and that I should consider HP Omen as it's more durable. I take care of my things. I did not use this laptop for gaming, I did not travel with it and I didn't use it more than 50 hours throughout the year I had it. It was suppose to be my backup computer in case I needed to travel or something. It's not like this is a cheap laptop so I would recommend you not buy Asus's ROG products. I am very disappointed.

Small but mighty gaming laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second ASUS ROG Laptop, with the first being the Intel Core i9 M16 version. This review is written based on game performance, benchmarking with 3DMark, and Oculus VR compatibility, as tested within the first week of owning. As expected, the laptop came packaged in a subtle understated fashion ROG is known for. The build materials feel sturdy while still being one of the thinnest gaming laptops on the market. The laptop cover mirrors other ROG products with an iridescent shimmer running diagonally along the top 1/2 of the laptop cover. When opening the lid, you'll find the laptop hinges pivot to tilt the base up and away from a flat surface, allowing increased airflow. The screen is as expected, a high quality display with low glare, an internal camera on top, and slim frame around the screen maximizing screen space. Ergonomics of the keyboard are average, with the touchpad taking up the center portion of the bottom third of the keyboard real estate. However the keyboard design is nice, with a medium weight, medium travel key, and enough spacing for larger hands to comfortably navigate. The keyboard is backlit, via single zone RGB, with various user controlled color options available. As for port availability, on the left side, the ports are power, HDMI, Gen 2 USB-C, headphone jack. On the right, the ports are 2x USB-A, Gen 2 USB-C, and Micro SD reader. Lastly the bottom has two bumpers that run the length of the body, adding additional clearance between the laptop and any flat surface you place it on to improve airflow. Overall a sleek, sturdy, yet lightweight design that gets a solid 5 stars. Setup is as expected, nothing notable to report there, however, you will want to first check for critical updates in the ASUS Armory app for optimal performance. The Armory app is a feature on the ASUS ROG product line, with 4 standard profiles - windows, silent, performance, turbo, and a manual option. The manual option allows for full fan profile customization, and then sliders to change your CPU TDP / GPU TGP limits. For consistency, everything after benchmarking I have the settings in turbo mode. For benchmarking, I used a few of the 3DMark tests - Time Spy Extreme (DirectX 12 4K test), Real-time ray tracing, and CPU profile. For the gaming performance benchmark, I wanted to check the difference between stock settings of performance and turbo. For performance, Time Spy Extreme yielded a score of 3452 (Legendary), with a graphics score of 3315 and CPU score of 4512, running the same test again with turbo yielded a score of 3874, with graphics score of 3742 and CPU score of 4848, so better than the performance setting results. While I don't play Battlefield V, 3DMark predicts this performance yields 1440p ultra with 75+ fps. During these tests I had the laptop on my lap, and found the sides exhausted fairly hot air, but the bottom was only warm to the touch. Also, as the fans ramp up, they are a bit loud, but not so much to drown out the sound if using the built in speakers. As for speakers, they are present, and will work fine, but not optimal. I recommend headphones for immersive gaming as well as blocking out the fan noise. For real time ray tracing, the laptop came in at a score of 3803 (again Legendary), and estimated Fortnight at 60+ fps. Trying out Fortnight, I am impressed, the graphics are very smooth. Outside of testing Fortnight (60 fps), FF XV (120 fps), and other Stream gaming, this laptop is also VR Compatible with the Oculus Quest 2. For the CPU benchmark, this laptop came in at a score of 7231 max threads, which is interesting but not compelling unless you're specifically looking for a machine to get started with software programming and/or 3D rendering. I chalk this up as another task this laptop can easily conquer. As far as practical application, my teen can run either Unity or Lua, while streaming music, and compile times are noticeably faster than his HP Omen desktop running the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G. Overall, 5 stars for a compact, portable laptop. You can take it anywhere, and do almost anything with it. While there is a bit of fan noise and heat generation, this laptop is a versatile powerhouse, from VR, to gaming, to programming, while it may not yield the top performance specs in any of these categories, this laptop is well rounded, and performs such that my teens will steal it and not complain about lag or lack of compatibility for whatever new game or app they want to try.
