Snagged a real gem for a great deal
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My previous laptop kicked the bucket after 8 long years, and this laptop is an incredible step up. It runs smoothly, is very responsive, screen is crisp and clear, and the battery lasts for hours beyond what my old laptop could have hoped to achieve. This is a smaller laptop than what I'm used to, but once I turn it on I don't notice it at all, and it is much more convenient to port around. All of my games run smoothly and on much higher graphics settings, and while this laptop does seem to run a bit hot, my cooling mat more than makes up for it. All in all, I'm glad my old laptop decided to wait just long enough for a sale for me to get my hands on this laptop when I did.

So far so good
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specs-wise, this was one of the most powerful laptops on the market when I was shopping for my first PC in a long time. First Impressions: -WQXGA screen is bright, dynamic, and even looks good off angle. -Keyboard and trackpad are balanced, backlight is fair. Like that I can customize the color. -Plays current-gen games on max settings with minimal issues. Sons of the Forest looks fantastic maxxed out. -Lightweight and professional looking - doesn't look like a gimmicky gamer laptop that a 12 year-old designed. I'm comfortable bringing this to work. -Runs extremely hot - would definitely invest in a cooling pad and play around with internal settings to maximize cooling. -Battery life is inconsistent. On Eco setting it typically lasts about 8 hours with light use, which is a little disappointing. Forget about gaming on battery altogether, which isn't a surprise. -16GB DDR5 is nice. There is one upgradeable slot, making this more future proof than some competitors. Overall, at $1,000 this was an absolute steal. The thing is a beast. I'll probably purchase an extended warranty at some point just to safeguard myself, since it isn't a Mac.

A few cons, but an overall excellent device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Asus laptop definitely does the job and provides everything it offers, however there are a few clear pros and cons: CONS Device gets quite loud Gets very warm; to the touch often Feels much smaller without standard 15.6 screen size Will need to play under 60 fps if you want to play with higher setting PROS Smaller frame gaming laptop; ideal for travel or for less clunky use Satisfactory triple A game performance (ran Halo Infinite just fine) with high frame rates Asus hub has customizable control for several settings (even fans!) Sleek, thin design for a gaming laptop One major thing to note: the performance seemed to decrease when not plugged into the huge power brick. This is somewhat normal with gaming laptops, but also note that the power will drain much swift er with heavier use games (like Halo) and even more with more intense and higher level game play. Plus, it is so sleek and easy to transport, it can be used as your everyday laptop for Word and Excel or whatever else.

Fast, Sleek and Ready to be a Workhorse for Games!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ASUS gaming laptop is awesome. The Radeon graphics card, 16gb of DDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD really makes this laptop a great choice for gaming at home or on the go. Tons of great configuration options in order to customize how you want it to work when doing various things. Comes with a one year warranty and currently upgrades to include a one year of accidental damage protection. Within the MyASUS application, you can change settings to both increase battery life or get a full charge depending on your typical usage. You can change the prioritization of the connection on wi-fi in order to allow whatever your doing to take priority, i.e. playing a game, watching a movie, etc. It is obvious when this is happening as there is no lag during gaming or if streaming a movie. An additional tool is the software called Armoury Crate. This provides a detailed analysis of the laptop’s conditions such as temperature, cpu usage, graphics card use, total memory, storage being used at any given time and more. Within in it you can also customize the audio settings, processor priorities, color temperature settings for specific games, screen calibration, and has the ability to save profiles for various modes of use. I am very impressed with the performance of this machine. It loads applications and games very fast, is extremely responsive when playing a game, renders smoothly and has super clean graphics. The sound is also excellent with four speakers or your headphones, has Dolby Atmos technology built in along with a solid microphone to help reduce background noises when conferencing. All in all, if you want to be able to play games when not in your normal spot, be productive and creative without sacrificing the power of some desktop or tower machines, this is worth a look. You won’t be disappointed!

Small Form, Big Function, Screen from Heaven
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus 14” 120Hz Gaming Laptop is a beast in some baby sheep's clothing. With the amount of features packed into it, this will make a great travel unit for some fun while traveling and still utilize for work. After removing the laptop from the most amazing packaging that has more engineering into it that it should have, the initial turn on was climatic for about 5 minutes. I spent almost 3 hours updating a lot of software, so if you plan on buying this laptop and are leaving out of town, give yourself time to setup this PC before you leave. The Zephyrus uses a Ryzen 9 6000 Series CPU, 6900HS to be exact, which puts it in the workstation category for massive workloads on the CPU and never quits. Testing using a Cam software while opening up Excel and Splashtop to remote into work, the CPU never pushed over 45% utilization. Running a portable computer with that alone is actually more beneficial than my computer at work, bringing my programming time up for faster results and faster time to my normal life. Now, the main reason you are looking at this laptop is for gaming and it does it very well. Is it as good as a true purpose built computer for gaming, no, but for a laptop, it works amazing. The 120hz is the bread winner of this unit, making Fortnite and Warzone look like a movie. Buttery smooth movement, zero shutter, gorgeous colors and sharp edges. The CPU eats up some of the graphics usage and the AMD GPU kicks in and goes to work when heavy gaming starts. The HDMI output makes great use of the AMD RX6700S GPU, being able to run my 34" Ultra Wide at 144hz seeing over 100fps on many games including Automobilista 2, iRacing and Warzone. The design of this laptop utilizing two sources for the graphics is a great idea and helps save lots of battery especially on work mode and adjusting the settings for it too. Usus includes the Amory Crate and along with Radeon Software, you have tons of options for settings for every type of game or movie and to just plain work. There is plenty of adjustments ready for you to try and find the sweet spot for your work or gaming experience. Another feature is they baked in their Aura software and even included a function button to change your colors on the fly. You can add peripherals that utilize Aura and adjust them easily to match the color theme you want, I personally tried my mouse and keyboard through the 2 USB ports and they worked flawlessly with Aura. Sound from the Laptop is decent but not loud. What I can say is make sure you utilize the Dolby Atmos program, it will change the way your gaming without a headset sounds. I was honestly not blown away but very pleased with how games, music and movies sound with Atmos working, it all sounded great and had very decent pin point direction in sound. The Keyboard is very easy to type on and very quiet, barely any clicky clacky sounds. The low profile keys make for finger lift a very minimal need, just slide your fingers from key to key with ease. The integrated function buttons, volume keys and ROG crate button are a nice addition to the small form of this laptop. I am very pleased and for a positive vs negative list, there is not many negative Positives: Great Packaging Small Size Lightweight Great Battery, 7 hours normal for work, 3 for heavy gaming with GPU maxed out A Screen from the Gods Beautiful Look and feel Runs Cool Virtually Silent, even under heavy gaming it was still quiet Features Galore Fast Charge Aura Integrated Fan Button for silent or performance Snip/Screenshot Key - one of my favorite features HUGE mouse pad 2 - USB-C Ports 2 - USB-A Ports 1 - HDMI 1- Headphone 1 -Micro SD slot and More Cons External Power Brick gets warm under heavy gaming Wifi range is not the best, had to stay within 100 ft of my router I am super happy with this laptop so far. I have always been a fan of Asus and the ROG series of products, this one may turn into my daily couch gaming setup for Fortnite, the mousepad is so large and accurate, I did not even need a mouse to play a little.

Great laptop, especially for the price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been a great performer so far, especially for the price (I got it on sale for just under $1100.) The laptop runs fast and smooth and performs great in gaming. There were a few updates available out of the box, including BIOS updates, and I've had no issues or crashes so far. The screen is plenty bright and is good enough for use outdoors in daylight. Battery life is pretty good when just web browsing or watching/streaming videos, getting around 8 hours. The keyboard and trackpad feel and work great. There are a few minor downsides. The build quality and materials aren't as premium as something like the Razer Blade 14, but it's also significantly cheaper, less then half the price of the Blade 14 when on sale, so really can't complain too much about that. The build quality is definitely good for the price. The RGB lighting on the keyboard just isn't that bright/visible, even under normal indoor lighting. The location of the ports aren't ideal. They're located on the left and right sides, towards the middle and bottom half of the chassis. Having the USB-A ports on the right side means that using a wired mouse is kinda awkward. The CPU does run hot, often seeing temps in the low 90s Celsius under high load, but this is still within the temp range for the chips, so it's not really an issue. The top of the keyboard/chassis does get warm, but not uncomfortably so. I haven't used the laptop actually on my lap, so I can't say whether the bottom gets uncomfortably warm. The fans can get noisy, but (not too bad for a thin gaming laptop.

Mixed thoughts but mostly stellar
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely fast, compact computer that outperforms my boyfriend's gaming desktop. I use it primarily for professional photo editing (mostly Lightroom, heavy masking). My workload used to easily crash other computers I've used in the past but not this one. I've also played Apex Legends at full render with zero lag or issues. Slight lag playing Cyberpunk when it was on low battery, however. Which brings me to the critical points. I bought a Like New / open box unit and have noticed a couple issues that may or may not be related to previous owner damage or manufacturing fault. -One dead pixel on an otherwise flawless screen. Annoying but ignorable. -No sRBG mode which is frustrating as a photo editor. No way that I've found to manually adjust the necessary settings to match the sRGB of my 4k editing monitor, either. Default Mode works fine but could be closer to sRGB than it is. -recurring issue with with the laptop not charging unless I change the plug. I cant figure out why this happens because it will work fine and then it doesn't.

Great little laptop for games and productivity
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty great little laptop. It runs a little hot, even with a fan under it, but it is much more quiet when not gaming than I expected. When just browsing the web and using standard programs, it is silent, but it does hover around 90 F. There are settings that you can adjust to bring the temps down, but it adds fan noise. I also have an Alienware X-14 with the new i7 from Intel, and while it is much slimmer than this laptop, it is also multitudes more loud. I got this laptop more for basic computing rather than gaming, but it does both very adeptly. The screen is gorgeous, so game, movies, and everyday applications all look great. It also gets quite bright and because it is QHD, it looks super sharp. I can't fault the screen here. Performance wise, this is a capable machine. It runs games really well, and I like that the card has a 8GB to work with. I am not a heavy gamer, but I like to fire one up every once in a while and this laptop has been able to handle modern AAA games without much issue. It obviously handles productivity tasks without any hiccups. The all AMD setup is quite nice, as most of my computers are a mix of Intel, AMD and nVidia. I also like that I can control the TDP of the CPU, GPU, and overall system. The CPU and GPU are both very capable for performance, and if you need more battery life. The keyboard is actually really nice. I have had no issues typing on it, though I find most keyboards that are low profile are easy to type on. I can't comment on the speakers because I don't really use laptop speakers. I always see reviews of laptop speakers and they are generally poor, but it is a laptop. If you want good sound, get some speakers or a headset. Battery life is also pretty good for a laptop packing this much power in this small of a form factor. Although the AC adapter is large, it is also a standard 240W so it is easy to find a second one to keep at home and plugged in. The AC adapter also provides more than enough juice to power the laptop. Overall, I would say this a great little laptop. The screen steals the show and is one of the best I have used on a laptop. I know there are better versions with 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD, but those also are a bit too pricey for me. I wish they offered 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD with this particular CPU/GPU, but you don't get everything you want. I would definitely buy this laptop again. It is high quality, performs very well at all tasks, and the battery has enough juice that I can get through the day without having to plug in.

Satisfied.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting for a month to do this review since purchase. I have not had any negative experiences with it during that time. The majority of negativity just involves superficial things. The lights on the keyboard are kind of dim even at full brightness. The power adapter hole is in a spot that is a little disrupting if you are trying to tackle multiple cords and position the laptop just right. It is loud when the fan is spinning, that I definitely agree with others here about. And it runs hot! The absence of Anime Matrix LED on the cover also is extremely disappointing. The positives about this laptop is that it does what it advertises. It's powerful enough to run anything I throw at it and does it perfectly. It's fast and very responsive, Overall I am satisfied.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Crisp 1600p/120hz display. Outstanding performance on Ultimate/Turbo settings. High-quality keyboard. Lightweight for a gaming laptop. Excellent build quality. Free month of Xbox Game Pass. Great battery life on Eco setting. Cons: Slight coil whine at idle. Long-term concern about fans blowing directly on screen. Charging port is awkwardly placed. Not-so-great battery life on Ultimate/Turbo settings.

Slim gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on sale for $1000 but certainly worth more than that. The battery is phenomenal and the screen is very good. Performance wise for gaming youre looking at new games all high settings 1080p or 1440p no ray tracing. Being able to upgrade the ram and the drive is a huge plus for me. The only real downside is that it definitely gets warm and even hot near the top of the keyboard on performance mode or turbo. Otherwise for $1000 it can’t be beat

Big Gaming In A Small Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The look of the Asus Zephyrus caught my eye and I’m pretty sure it probably caught yours as well, hence why you’re reading this review. This laptop is a looker and definitely a luxury buy as you can find cheaper laptops with equal performance for a little bit less, but you only live once, right? Let’s get to the nitty gritty of what makes the G14 a unique laptop that just might be the perfect fit for your portable gaming needs. First off, this laptop is great looking. It has sharp lines and the white, all aluminium body screams classy. Its lid has a honeycomb pattern that refracts light in a way that creates a rainbow image at times and really catches the eye. Once you get past its looks though, I think you’ll notice just how much power this 14 inch laptop packs. With an AMD 9 6000 and a discrete Radeon 6700S video card, this little laptop can play just about any current game at high settings. This is fantastic because the 120hz screen is a pleasure to look at when playing your latest game pickup. The 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe is super fast and roomy too, you know, for all those games you’re going to install, right? Speaking of gaming, this review will mostly cover that aspect of this laptop, because if it can run Halo Infinite then you know that it’s going to open up your Excel spreadsheets just fine. With that said, let’s get to the gaming because that’s why you’re here, right? I loaded up Steam and Xbox Game Pass to start downloading some games right off the bat. The WiFi 6e connected to my mesh network at home just fine and I was able to download all my games fairly quickly. No issues so far, except I wanted to make sure I was running all the latest drivers and patches, so I had to run Windows Update and the MyASUS application in order to get the system fully patched up. There were a few critical updates on the MyASUS application that I would suggest installing, but luckily that’s all done pretty seamlessly through the application. After getting all that housekeeping out of the way, I fired up Halo Infinite on the G14 first. Halo ran at high settings at the native resolution of the screen (1440p) just fine. I was able to load the campaign and play without many hiccups at all, at least while I had the power cord plugged in. The substantial sized power brick definitely provides a lot of juice to the laptop, because performance seems to get dynamically adjusted when the unit is on battery power. I noticed performance in games diminish as the battery power begins to get lower. This is pretty typical of gaming laptops and the most battery life you’ll get when playing a game like Halo Infinite is going to be between 1-2 hours. Other games like Jurassic World and even Lost Ark wouldn’t drain the battery nearly as fast, but your results will vary based on how intensive the game being played is. Performance in games was very reasonable considering that this laptop weighs under 4lbs and the footprint is about that of any other 14 inch laptop that doesn’t come with a discrete video card. The head is handled quite well with the Asus ROG cooling system that is employed, but this laptop will still get plenty hot if it’s sitting on your lap, so I’d get yourself a nice lapdesk if you’re planning on gaming with it on the couch. I would also suggest a wireless mouse as gaming with a trackpad is still as awkward as it’s ever been. Oh, did I mention that the keyboard on this laptop may be the best in its class? Yup, the keyboard is just that good. Okay, back to games. I gave the G14 a run for the money with games like Lost Ark, Jurassic World, Halo Infinite and The Forgotten City. Every single one of these games ran at high settings, if not ultra and at frame rates of 60FPS or higher. Halo Infinite actually almost pushed the 120hz screen by getting into the 100fps territory. If I had lowered the resolution I probably could have reached the limits of the screen, but I'd rather run the higher resolution than the higher frame rates. You’ll have access to adjust all sorts of settings to help you get the most out of your games in the Asus Armoury Crate application. There’s a lot there to adjust, like the lighting on the keyboard and the performance of the video card in certain scenarios. Some of the menus are a little clunky and not explained very well, but overall I can see some value-add with a program like this, especially for gamers and people that like to tweak their computers. So overall, this laptop isn’t going to replace my desktop computer with a 3070. However, due to its impressive performance in such a small package, killer keyboard, great screen and classy look, I can see this becoming my daily Windows laptop. The fact that I can use it to game on is just the cherry on this already impressive laptop. The Asus Zephyrus G14 is an incredibly solid gaming laptop stuffed into an impressively small form factor and I can’t really find many faults in it other than its battery life when playing intensive games. Paired with a wireless mouse, there’s no game you couldn’t play while on the road with the G14 and you’ll turn some heads while you’re at it due to its good looks.

Best laptop I've owned.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop has been great. I purchased it specifically for voiceover use/audio editing, and it has served me extremely well. I use the Armory Crate software that came preinstalled to put it in silent mode (deactivates all fans and throttles performance a bit to manage temps) while recording, and then back to either standard or performance mode to do my pricessing and editing. Honestly, though, I forget to switch out of silent mode half the time and it still has plenty of processing power to do the job. The crisp display often surprises and impresses people who see it. I really like that the laptop body is metal instead of plastic, though that does mean it's slightly heavier than many laptops of the same size, and through repeated carrying in a backpack/getting tossed around, the finish has chipped off slightly in the corners. If you're not rough on your gear like I am, you probably won't run into that.

Excellent Performance for the Size
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2022 Zephyrus G14 is an excellent laptop for both work and play, but with a caveat. My model has a 4-star rating, but the battery life falls short of expectations. One of the standout features of the G14 is its impressive performance. The combination of a powerful AMD Ryzen processor and Radeon graphics card makes this laptop a powerhouse for tasks such as video editing and gaming. The laptop also comes with a fast and responsive SSD, which makes boot times and file transfers lightning quick. The G14 also boasts a sleek and lightweight design, making it easy to take on the go. The 14-inch display is also a highlight, with vibrant colors and a high resolution. The built-in webcam is another plus, and the laptop's speakers provide great sound quality. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and has an RGB backlight feature. The touchpad is also responsive and easy to use and 50% bigger than last year's model. However, the battery life on my model falls short of expectations. I found myself needing to charge the laptop more frequently than I would have liked. It may not be enough for a full workday for some, (I got 7 hours on idle), especially when using more demanding applications. In summary, the 2022 Zephyrus G14 is an excellent laptop that offers a great balance of performance and portability. Its powerful specs and sleek design make it perfect for both work and play, but the battery life may be a concern for some. It's worth considering and checking the battery performance of the specific model before purchasing.

Great for the right consumer!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 15.6 inch lenovo before this guy. It was a great computer, but performance and battery life were really bad. I wanted something smaller, cleaner, and more powerful for my casual gaming and 3D work I do. This ASUS is really great for those specific activities, while also retaining a very usable batterylife (8+ hours) of streaming, browsing, and listening to music. It runs quiet and cool on the silent setting, and the performance is exceptional when turbo is engaged. The fans can get loud, but thats what happens when you pack a tiny (and I mean TINY) laptop with such powerful components. Also, the display is really nice and bright, but the anti glare coating can make colors look a bit muted. My ONE complaint is that the speakers require you to really customize your own sound profile to get the best quality and depth. The speakers can also rattle a bit, which is kinda annoying. Also for those concerned with build quality, my device is perfect. The body is rigid and light.

Vapor chamber and liquid metal really shines * Great screen * Very lightweight considering its power * Keyboard and trackpad are decent. Probably 80th percentile for laptops * Decent battery life. Cons * Gets hot and loud while gaming. To be expected with this much power in a 14 in package. I would have rated this 5 stars but I had to return my first unit due to a bad fan. Great portable laptop, needs some driver updates
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got the laptop yesterday after selling my M1 Pro Macbook 14 and Legion 7 Gen 6. The first thing I noticed was how solid it felt. No, it’s not a Macbook, or even a Razer. But it feels great in hand and has excellent fit and finish. The screen is a definite plus, making the small 14inch form factor feel usable with desiring a 15inch. Keyboard is sturdy and lovely to type on. I’ve actually already recorde my fastest typing times on this. As for performance, it’s relative. Can it play AAA games? Yes. But it’s no 3070. Once you stop comparing it to, let’s say, the G15 3070, it plays games reasonably well. Just don’t expect to Cyberpunk on ultra at 60+ fps. However, one small caveat I’ve noticed is slight glitchiness and errors. Using gestures on the touch pad are delayed and laggy. I’ve tried downloadijg and fixing Radeon Software multiple times and it fails to properly download. It’s definetly an issue, but I’m hopeful it’ll be resolved with updates. Ultimately, this is a portable gaming laptop. If you’re going to be using this as a daily driving and bringing it to work or cafes with gaming on the side, this is beautiful. But if you will mainly leave it on the desk, there are more powerful options in this price range at the cost of added weight and size.
