Great portable gaming laptop. My only issue is how hot it gets while gaming but its running some hefty hardware in such a small thin formfactor. Don't plan on any moderate gaming on your lap. Other than cooling issues it runs great! Very fast, beautiful display, and is basically silent if I'm not running a game. Battery life is also pretty good again untill you start up a game. Great specs for the price and worth it if you want power with portability.

Bought to run mostly Linux for coding and Amateur radio. Yes, it is blistering fast, in a small package, but this necessarily comes with battery drain. Ryzen-9's 16 cores work well, all sharing tasks regardless of operating system. Code-compilation in record time! SSD also impressively speedy. Why only 4 stars? The Radeon graphics chip pair also works at impressive speed, though a second (HDMI) monitor can slow things down. Windows, Ubuntu fine, Arch not so much. Linux loves this machine, but only recent releases support this newer chipset easily. As a portable games machine, excellent!

Solid laptop let down by software and thermals

This laptop carries a significant punch while retaining a compact form and weighting very little. For people frequently on the go that need a discrete GPU, it seems to tick all boxes. The great battery life, expandable RAM, and price point make it superior to other options like Razer. The issues start the second Asus/Microsoft push updates to the system. Battery life gets decimated, for example. There is no way to fix this other than to roll back. This process is reported and documented by many users on Reddit. The Bios 313 seems to be the culprit. Other than that, you will likely need to tweak the system significantly, for example using regedit to disable boost, otherwise the laptop will spool up and run hot. All these issues mean that the system, while serviceable, it not a great user experience unless you like tinkering with things. Thus a 4-star rating. The keyboard is great, so is the screen and touchpad. The power brick is big and heavy but you can purchase a 100w usb-c brick for traveling. The webcam is mediocre at most. I'm keeping mine since I'm satisfied with it, and there are no other options in the market that deliver the same amount of pwerformance, size, and cost combination.

The laptop is nice and small love the portability. There has been none stop issues with this product, When I bought this the HDMI port stoped working out of no wear and there were dead pixels. Then they replaced it and 4 months later it started randomly restarting when not plugged in ended up being a bad mother board. Also there are random lag spikes that bog the system down for a few seconds then goes back to normal. Random blue screens as well. It games pretty well if your on turbo mode but if you don't have it set up at a angle it will auto turn off because it will get to hot. To add to me getting a new motherboard the geek squad that "fixed it" forgot to re activate windows after the motherboard swap, and i spent a hour and a half trying to get thru to the support team but the lack of understanding of English language they weren't any help, and multiple times they said they were going to call me back they never did also they just kept transferring me one agent to the other and it felt like they rather send me to another agent to get rid of me then send me to someone smarter then them . I would like to say if they went back into the recordings i was very nice and respectful i tried my best but its so frustrating

After having this laptop for over a week, I can say that this is a great buy for the price if you value performance and portability. Coming from a Macbook pro 2013 (I know, ancient technology) I was hesitant of swapping over to Windows. Overall, the experience has been good (despite Windows 11 being buggy at times). I have had a couple crashes (and one blue screen after updating the bios) either from Windows 11 itself or a user error from heat management (more on that later). In terms of the laptop itself, the build quality is excellent despite it not being a solid block of aluminum like Razer or Apple. The screen is absolutely gorgeous for watching content and playing games. The typing experience is great as well with very excellent travel distance. The only issue with the actual design would be the placement of barrel plug that can block the ports on the left side at times. Battery life has been excellent for this laptop considering its hardware it is packing in it. On silent mode, browsing the web and watching videos nets me about 10 and a half hours at 75% brightness. It is not m1 MacBook battery life but considering the use of this laptop, its amazing. Finally, the gaming experience. I have not done any super taxing games on this laptop yet but this laptop is an absolute unit when it comes to CPU heavy games. I have been getting 120+ frames on max (or close to) settings on the following games: Path of Exile, League of Legends, Valorant (on performance mode plugged in). The CIV 6 AI benchmark has also been incredible due to the 6900hs CPU. Overall, I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone that wants a powerful, portable machine.

This device performs exceptionally well and for the weight and size is perfect for my needs. Light gaming playing esports: great performance and responsive. Convenient windows facial hello login: amazing Long lasting battery: exceptionional lasts 7 hours with battery capped to 80% by personal preference Audio system: pleasantly loud when needed Performance on battery: smooth and performant Noise level: quiet on silent mode and as noisy as you want if absolute unrestricted power is needed. Trackpad: large and spot on accurate Screen: exceptional tallness and fits lots of content Running all my active development work on this machine is a pure joy plugged in or on battery power and lasts hours. Cons: too sleek too powerful long lasting very portable piece of engineering. Asus hats off. 1 issue the screen seems to look white washed on battery but i suspect it is a profile being activated which i may have been able to resolve but evey now and then I seem to think the white washing effect is noticable but it could be my brain thinking it is still there because i am trying to hunt it down. Recommendation? Yesssssssss

I use it for coding, light gaming, and general schoolwork. It's been perfect for my needs so far. - By default, the battery life sucks. Go to Armoury Crate, on the left icons click the second one with a keyboard and mouse. Click System. Go to GPU Power Saving. Select Optimized. This will disable the dGPU on battery life and enable it when charging. This will bring battery life from 4-5 hours to 9-10 hours. - By default, the fan speeds suck too. For anything past coding, this laptop runs hot, especially during gaming. Fans cost a lot less to replace than a CPU!! So in Armoury Crate, I configured the Manual Mode to have a much more aggressive fan curve. I only turn it to Manual mode when it's plugged in at home and I can let the fans spin loud. On battery life, I keep it on Silent. I find Performance and Turbo mode don't do much besides make the temperatures skyrocket. - The screen, keyboard, and trackpad are stellar. Webcam is eh but Windows Hello works great. - Honestly, the power button is so fun to press. It's, "crisp", in a way. - Speaking of heat, I found that it kept heating up in my backpack because it was still "on" despite having the lid shut. I configured Windows to set the computer to Hibernate every time the lid shut or the power button was pressed. This works well because it does a soft "shut down" but preserves all your tabs. It only takes a couple seconds to boot thanks to the SSD. - The screen can be set to 60 hz or 120 hz. I decided to leave it at 60 since I plug it into an external monitor when I game. Overall, the perfect laptop for me and a worthy investment.

So this was the second G14 I purchased. I bought the 6800s in November on sale but I returned it because when I put it on my laptop stand I would get a clicking noise it the GPU did any demanding tasks. Yes I checked the fans to make sure nothing was in them and used armoury crate to ramp the fans to 100% and no noise but the noise would return if i put a load on the gpu and the click would come back. Also it wasnt coil whine as when I lay the laptop flat noise would be gone. Anyways I swapped it for the 6700 version because they were sold out of the 6800 version. Overall same laptop but again the same clicking noise appeared and as I was out the country and my return window ended. I sent it for repair and the motherboard was replaced. I got it back and few days later if I put a load on the laptop at all it shuts down. its back out for repair. I did get a new OEM charger and now it was working fine. I decided to part ways with the machine because it I could not trust the laptop. BUT when it worked it was great. I was able to edit photos and videos and play games on the go. It was nice to travel abroad and just take my tiny 100w charger. When I was on the plane I would disable the 6700 and use the APU to play games. It was quiet and helped pass the time. The screen was nice and bright. Speakers were nice only the other windows pc to beat them was the ASUS M16 and the Dell XPS. Good selection of ports. I added a 32Gb of ram and upgraded to 2Tb NVMe. both super simple just need phillips screwdriver and something to remove the stickers covering 3 screws. Overall good laptop I just worry about the quality over time. I moved to the Asus M16 but the fan noise was too high pitch for me. So I moved to a more professional laptop.

I bought the Rog Zephyrus G14 GA402RJ with the rx6700s gpu and the ryzen 6900hs cpu. The laptop is my first gaming laptop purchase. While it does play games, I am a little less than impressed. Here are the reasons. First the laptop runs incredibly hot. I had to purchase a secondary cooling pad just to withstand the heat and game. I am not trying to be dramatic but it gets very hot. Secondly, and I have experienced this several times but I keep getting the blue screen of death. It usually happens when I am due for a windows update but it has happened a few time without the update. I have to restart and hope it comes back on. Lastly, the in-game performance is not that great. Especially for a rx6700s. You would think that I could reach 60fps at least. But alas, it is hitting sub 50s. Its not the greatest laptop and if you can overlook some headaches and manage your expectations, it is okay. Just be mindful of the blue screen of death. I have read that it is a wide spread problem with this model. If you can afford it go with either the rx6800s or rx6800m. But those are drastically overpriced. I am thinking a sff pc would have worked better for me. I usually only use it when in hotel rooms while traveling for work. Occasionally I use it for homework but I am terrified I will get the blue screen in the middle of a paper. Im in a Masters Degree program and I can not afford to lose my papers because of fualty hardware.

The laptop runs extremely well. The biggest gripe I currently have is the disconnections I would have of my WiFi, Bluetooth, and any USB device when I am using an external drive (Mainly my external NVME M.2). Maybe there's an issue with my power settings? Or I set something up wrong. I tried editing my work that requires an external drive, and when it was transferring data, my wireless 2.4ghz mouse and WiFi/Bluetooth were freaking out intermittently slowing down or disconnecting.

Great Laptop for portability and gaming. I purchased it with editing and heavy gaming in mind. While I couldn’t really play extremely graphical games, I still enjoyed playing my typical ‘gaming night with friends’ style of games. Enjoyed using it and being able to play just about anywhere due to its very slim size. If not for the graphical intensity that I enjoy, this laptop would be ideal for the most optimal casual experience. MAKE SURE TO ADJUST YOUR GRAPHICAL SETTINGS!

I am very impressed by the laptop's performance given its small size. It runs every game flawlessly. I can also reduce the resolution and not really notice that much of a difference. The price is very good for what you get. The biggest problem is that it does get very hot. Even when I lower power use in the software, it's hot. The bottom is burning. I would have also preferred 32GB of RAM or maybe a single 16GB soldered RAM so I can add another 16GB in the future.

Pros: Outstanding screen. 100% sRGB color gamut is incredible to view, and the matt screen provides the color consistency that matches the most expensive desktop monitors I look at. 16:10 ratio screen is also a big plus for workflow and productivity. There is no recorded user experience where the heat dissipating onto the screen has been an issue, despite online reviews from early on days regarding the issue. The keyboard, I would give it a 8/10. The tactical feedback is great, but the travel is slightly too short for my liking. The included RX 6700s is.. equipped with 8GB of vram which is more than the similarly priced RTX 3060 variants. And no undervolted versions in AMD lineup . The likes of those who get this laptop would do so for the screen and the power it provides, as well as the battery life. The laptop does not need anything higher than 6700s in my opinion, as doing so will only add to the overheating and the performance will suffer. This is the most reasonable package in a 14 form factor.

This was my first venture in purchasing a pc for gaming. I opted for this laptop at the suggestion if an employee I spoke to, and I'm so glad I went with this one instead of a different one I'd looked at. It's handled the games I've played pretty well so far. I don't do major gaming, but it has ran Path of Titans, Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution 2, and the Sims 4 well. It will run a bit hot at times when I play the more graphics intensive games , but I solve that by using a desktop fan to circulate the air around/under it. So far, I'm pretty pleased with this laptop! I don't know technical stuff about computers so I can't really talk much on that, but it has definitely served my needs when it comes to the games I purchased it to play.

Thus far I haven't found anything to complain about with this laptop. The screen is responsive and vibrant, the trackpad is smooth and responsive, the keyboard feels great to type on, the battery life is solid, and the speakers are impressively full and loud. Not to mention it's very aesthetically pleasing and light to carry. I also discovered that the ASUS Armory has a setting that automatically enables/disables the discreet GPU based on what you're currently doing. Not a single review I looked at mentioned this. They all said this has to be done manually each time in the software. Perhaps there was an update pushed out by ASUS that added this feature. If you're on the fence about this laptop, I would strongly encourage the purchase.

I don't know what the deal is with everyone complaining about the heat. It's a gaming laptop within the $1000 range. Heat is inevitable and there's nothing you can really do about it. Every gaming laptop suffers from thermal build up. That's the price you pay for portability along with weaker performance compared to a desktop with similar specs. You can buy a cooling pad to help mitigate heat but nothing really significant. Graphics is also something you can't do anything about either because nearly everything is soldered on. Meaning you can't swap out parts like the GPU or CPU. In my honest opinion I believe this is a good gaming laptop for it's price. You do have to go into Armoury Crate and mess with the settings a bit but watch a quick youtube video and you should be fine. Please don't read into the others saying the laptop's CPU reaches 93 to 96 Celsius and is too hot. That's normal for a gaming laptop and well within the manufacturers operating temps.

I wanted to like it but had to return it. If im spending this much money, id hope for the quality to be just a bit better. When i first received it, the frame around the screen was already coming off at the bottom, you can press it back in, but the heat will eventually separate it again. Also, when starting it up for the first time (windows setup), it blue screened. After finally setting it up, i restarted the laptop and the screen was black but the cursor was there. Ive heard this happening to others so i restarted the computer again and it finally loaded up as it should. Like i said, when it works, the laptop is great. Played some 7 days to die and it ran great, although it isnt the most intensive game. The fans get loud but i had headphones on so it didnt bother me. The screen is beautiful, crystal clear. I just wish the quality was a bit better because for the money i would have hoped the frame and the laptop itself worked smoothly. Unfortunately i cannot recommend this model based on my personal expereince.
