I wish Asus turn off the boost by default. It's just extra research you have to go through to properly optimize the laptop for best battery life and temperatures. Display is just beautiful!

It gets so hot at 88% cpu load, it reaches easily 90+ Celsius, not an exaggeration. At first, I couldn't believe what the reviews were saying about the laptop getting hot. This laptop gets too HOT to the touch. I don't want to be worried that midgame the gpu will bake itself to oblivion so I will return it. Maybe the RTX4070 GPU + AMD CPU will have better thermals and handle heat dissipation better.

I am not a gamer but I use photoshop and lightroom and thought this laptop was great for using in living room and on-the-go. I installed but haven't used PS or LR yet. This laptop gets really hot. Unable to use it even after a few minutes of light browsing. Nothing else open except 4 tabs of Chrome open and unable to keep it on the lap after just over 10 minutes of use. The monitorig tool (Asus Armory Crate was showing over 80C). Considering returning it and going with Lenovo which was my original choice but thought would give Asus a try. But this is not usable.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues.
It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. Check if resource hungry applications, processes and services are not running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. Also, check if the laptop is running with the most current BIOS version.

Excellent gaming laptop

Runs a bit hot and gets a bit loud under full load but overall very happy with this laptop (I’ve heard MUCH louder laptops). Battery life is “meh” but that’s to be expected given the specs. I use this laptop for CAD work, Unreal Engine, 3D design, and media encoding and it handles all of these tasks like a champ - in some cases outperforming my custom built gaming desktop (i5 11600, rtx 3070), but this is pretty much always due to the CPU being a beast in this laptop. Gpu obviously isn’t going to trade blows with a desktop 3070 but the rx6700S is still really, really good… surprisingly good for a small 14 inch laptop

Budget laptop you’ll have to troubleshoot a lot

So hot in performance mode it’ll shutdown the laptop. After you make a REGEDIT change and change the power setting to normal it’ll run fine until….you’re connected to WIFI 6 or 802.1n and then prepare to have lag spikes every 2-3 minutes which makes any FPS unplayable. If there was a RJ45 port that would of been nice but there is not. Also, the SSD is SLOW. Be prepared to be the last one loading a level. Games played: CS:GO and Diablo 4. I’ll be returning this before the 60 day refund period.

When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. If you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop. Certainly, the unit was designed as an entry-level computer that runs basic and light computing applications like web-surfing, emailing and word-processing without compromising system stability and performance. While accessing cloud games orweb applications, please ensure the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since poor and unstable internet connection will definitely affect system speed and performance.
