Tough to beat

I tried out last years ROG 14 and the 2022 ROG 15 3070ti and this version was the sweet spot. Excellent display, excellent keyboard, gaming performance was awesome for a 14" in this price range. New chip and DDR5 definitely worth it.

Heat issue

After exchanging, I had to return it because the laptop turns on itself when I plug it in to charge, and...yes, I did turn it off before leaving it on my bed. When I got home, the laptop was super hot because it turned on itself, even though I had already turned it off and closed the screen lid. ASUS, don't change or fix it when it does not break, and please don't put both AMD CPU and AMD GPU together in this small chassis. I had your Strix G15 and even your big chassis like your Strix G15 Advance Edition couldn't handle the heat; you could burn someone's home down.

We're sorry to hear about the overheating issues you're having with this model. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed. A Worthy Upgrade

After the BIOS update, Turbo mode is stable, and silent mode works perfectly when not pushing the CPU.

Open box disappointment

The keyboard was given to me with no box and in a plastic Best Buy bag. After coming home and booting up, I was getting a restart loop before eventually freezing. Returned it the next day.

AMD IS GARBAGE!!!!!!!

Save yourself the trouble and get Intel and Nvidia. This laptop is garbage. It's super slow. When gaming all the settings have to be turned down to low setting. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Get a i7 or i9 and Nvidia graphics card. AMD is garbage!!!!

Too many issues to keep

It's a good looking machine, but the first one I bought had some firmware issues where the fans would run at 100% or the laptop would hang during boot and heat up without running the fans. The second one I bought didn't have those problems, but the Windows Audio service was driving the CPU to 20-50% usage at idle, draining the battery quickly and heating up the laptop. I had to remove all of the Asus software to stop that from happening, but then I had no access to adjusting fan curves, changing the lighting, or adding or subtracting the voltage of the CPU and GPU. I really wanted to make this laptop work for me, but it just didn't happen. I'm unlikely going to buy another Asus laptop.

Great all round laptop.

As a graduate school student, I easily take my laptop to school and when I get home, I play high graphics games and so on. Totally recommend this laptop.

This is a very sleek and nice machine, it is very fast and has a beautiful display. Asus did a great job !

Overhyped laptop that over heats

On paper this is an amazing laptop. However, in reality the thermals are just terrible. Asus needs to re-think the Zephryus design and come up with something that can still maintain the portability but bring better thermals. Lenovo has this figured out for their line-ups

ASUS G14 is the bomb!!!

The combination of Ryzen 6900HS and RX 6700S is perfect. I can run all the new titles at 1080P in really high settings. Highly recommend this Laptop.

Spent 6 hours getting it set up and updated, and after about 4 hours of playing MW2 it bricked. Of course this was 2 days outside the return period so now i get to wait for Asus to warranty a rig I dont want.

If the laptop will not boot up or it's just black screen but the fan, please do the following. Please try to do a power cycle by pressing and holding down the power button to shut it down completely. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. If the laptop is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily until the update were applied successfully. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery was charged.

Don't buy the AMD version.

Great product, horrific ray tracing performance

The gpu in this is about equivilant in performance to last year's 3060, while being much more expensive. However, in Ray tracing performance, it noticeably underperforms compared to the 2021 g14.

Powerful and Light
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a beautifully designed laptop, the white color with black screen bezels look great. The subtle pattern on the lid exterior is pleasing. Windows hello face unlock works perfectly. The screen is amazing - high resolution and matte. I’ve always gravitated toward glossy screens, but this matte screen is really incredible. The keyboard is great - well spaced for such a small laptop and the keys have enough travel to be satisfying to use. Trackpad is great, nice and large, smooth and accurate. Probably the best Windows trackpad I’ve ever used. RGB keyboard lighting is very cool. Colors and effects are set in Armoury Crate app or the Aura Creator app. The Armoury Crate is also where you can adjust the GPU settings. I’m using this as a productivity machine as well, so I have this set to optimized, where the GPU will kick in when needed, otherwise running the integrated GPU. The webcam is 720 and works well enough when lightning conditions are good. It should work ok for video calls if you can control the lighting, but isn’t great. Charging is over USB type C or the included barrel charger. There is a versatile selection of ports - HDMI, 2 USB type C (one for charging, both work for displays), headphone jack, micro SD, and 2 USB type A. I was able to play less demanding games on high settings and had no dropped frame rates or slowdowns - Sifu and Hades. Tomb Raider trilogy games were flawless. I suspect you could even get solid performance with the integrated GPU, by reducing the effects and resolution, and getting better battery life. That might be a good use case for somebody that is truly mobile. The laptop is also very light, perfect for traveling with, not adding much weight to a backup. Works perfect as a developer machine. Installed resource intensive tools like Visual Studio and SQL Server, and it is flawless. The Ryzen 9 6900HS and Radeon 6700S are a perfect pair, nothing has been able to slow this machine down. The initial setup was time consuming. Windows 11 has a nice installer screen, but there were so many updates that needed to be installed, even after a long update during the initial setup. This is a one time inconvenience, so not a big deal, but also not a great first impression. Battery life has been great. I’m able to play a game for an hour or so, and have enough battery for the rest of the work day. It does get warm when gaming, but not uncomfortable or what I would call unusual. The fans seem aggressive, but not bothersome. There seems to be a lot of heat to dissipate, but it hasn’t been uncomfortable to use. This is a great gaming laptop, with a bold yet professional design. Perfect pair of CPU and GPU, great keyboard, amazing trackpad, exceptional screen, and great battery life (depending on your use cases). Easy to recommend this if you are looking for a powerful and light laptop, for gaming or productivity.
