Unfunctional out of the box
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the worst laptop designs I've ever seen. It fails at everything it claims to be. The monitor and mouse both have high latency. The ASUS operating system is full of issues causing the laptop to go to sleep wrong. Ive waken up the laptop running at full fan speed at 100C while the laptop was put to sleep with the screen closed. It also has issues with powering on after sleep which causes the mouse and screen to run at 1 frame per 3 seconds for about 20 seconds before returning to normal functionality. The main issue with the laptop is the voltage settings. ASUS has tried to squeeze way too much performance out of the laptop and causes it to average 95-105C constantly. Even idle it runs at 80C and the fans sound like a jet engine. The laptop gets so hot it comes close to burning the hands you type with. The only way ive found to fix this is to turn down the voltage in windows registry which kills the performance. Even when running at the ASUS recommended settings the performance is sub par for the high end specs due to thermal throttling. I tried contacting ASUS support and they refused to do anything and just told me to take it back to the place I bought it even though it was still under waranty. I took it back to bestbuy and asked for another that still performed the exact same except the new one didnt have a broken display. Oh yeah I didnt mention that the first laptop had a broken display that was locked at 64 Hz instead of the advertised 120 hz. Geek squad was unable to fix it. Safe to say I will not be buying ASUS products if their engineers produce garbage like this. TLDR: Unusable out of the box, low quality firmware/software. It has high end hardware but because of thermals the high end hardware performs like a windows xp tower from 2001.

Gets super-hot while gaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this a solid 3.5/5. Its def quick with everyday activities. Browing, streaming, work. With gaming there is some draw backs, the CPU gets pretty hot, mines gets up to 93 C. The bottom of the laptop gets too hot to even touch. Usually have to exit the game to let the laptop cool off. I shouldn't have to lower the CPU wattage to lower the CPU temp, which seems to be the only fix I found online. especially for a $1900 "gaming" laptop.

Good Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great laptop in technical terms, but it does come with a bit of bloatware here and there. If you're willing to clean it up a bit it's a good buy. It's only major problems lie in its low number of USB slots and cooling issues which are common to most gaming laptops.

Best Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down the best gaming laptop I have owned. I have tried an Omen 15 and this laptop just feels smooth all the time. Pro Tip, uninstall Armory Crate and install GHelper instead. It made configuring fans, power, etc alot easier and also keeping my drivers up to date. I will always recommend ASUS ROG Zephys from now on.

decent performance but run hot
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought an open box with big discount. My screen has no issue and look great. The performance is good as expected but runs really hot. Too hot to use it on your lap or on the bed.

Incredible performance in small chasis
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really high performance and good screen and a small form factor battery life is impressive but it gets a little bit too hot. At first I try to save $50 by getting the open box excellent version but that one was not very excellent. It had damage to the screen damaged lid and the chassis have been opened. quite disappointed with that one.

Best All Around Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a college student majoring in computer science and also like gaming. Almost perfect out of the box
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this laptop would be perfect had it not been for the level of tuning you can do to the machine out of the box. undervolting would be ideal. you can fix this by doing a few registry edits and unlocking more power features. screen is fantastic, especially when you calibrate it and gaming on it is amazing. on the highest power settings (including unlocked settings) i managed 14 hours of battery life on this machine with just youtube and microsoft word. highly recomended for any gamer, student, or even content creator. hopefully as the machine software matures, it will be further optimized

Avoid at all costs.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. What a piece of junk. Thing runs hotter than the surface of the sun. Super loud, and quirky as all get out. Also, windows 11 is horrible. Can’t find any of the settings I change. Taskbar is constantly compacted with hidden icons. I absolutely hate windows 11. The laptop is pretty, but even with regular use it’s ungodly hot and loud. I’ll be returning asap.

Posted .Dear MrEMan,
We are sorry to hear that you're having with the unit overheating. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up and check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Also check for Windows updates and make sure they're installed. multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed. For more information send us an email at customerloyalty@asus.com and provide the link of this review for reference. We’ll do our best to provide a quick resolution to your case. Pretty good needs some tweaking
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You'll have to tweak this laptop to gaming your needs. I recommend under volting cpu and gpu by 5-10 watts to control temps. I chose this laptop to game when I travel which I don't recommend(pls enjoy your time away from gaming.) I Wanted a bearable laptop weight and adequate gaming performance which this covers most of. Not perfect but very nice. If it was $1k it would be a steal. At $1,400 when i got this it would be okay. Good laptop if you're comfortable tweaking but if you want something ready without tweaking you'll have to get something else.
