Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. So far so good as per the 4 stars. I did add in another 1TB SSD in the second slot and put in a 16GB RAM into and now its at 24RAM. It games well and the screen quality is good. Its very stealthy as it doesnt give a gaming laptop vibe it would work well in a work environment. The only thing i have to speak negative about is the RAM upgrade. You lose dual channel when you replace the RAM. I didnt know this until i saw youtube video stating that it does. All in all a straight up value for sure

I had to write a review just to offset the people complaining about the RAM. I haven't even come close to using 16GB of RAM in anything. This laptop is a BEAST. It's basically a G14 with a superior display in every way (color, brightness, refresh rate, response, resolution). Better GPU (50%+ performance) and better CPU (higher single clock speeds). I have had to do some tweaking to get it where I want, but it is a Max settings AAA title monster. I have been maxing every setting in all games tested and getting very good frame rates.

    Amazing price to performance

Summary: Great performance to price ratio. Quality control roll of the dice but generally just firmware or software fixes required. Note: I went through 3 of these devices and ended on the white 3080 model. This mostly occurred because I was indecisive on upgrading from my 2060 G14 and because I had originally wanted the white 3080 model anyways but it was never available. Pros: -Solid specs for the price point even after the price mark up. -highly portable form factor and battery life due to power efficient CPU and GPU (could be a con depending on your use case) -amazing screen at 165 hertz and 1440p resolution. -15 inch is the perfect portable gaming screen size in my opinion Cons: - build feels a little less premium compared to my white 3080 model or my older G14. Could be just a coincidence. - only one stick of RAM upgradable. Puts dual channel 32 gig ram behind a hefty price jump. - initial set up experience was no nearly as smooth as my G14. This was an issue on my 3rd 3070 and my 3080. Ultimately fixed everything via trouble shooting and googling but beware you may need to apply a little work out of the box. Biggest scare was initially the GPU ran sub 80 watts consistently for no apparent reason. This fixed itself on its own but no idea how or why. Happened on one 3070 and my 3080 model. - the $1999 G15 3080 model might be a better price to performance. Benchmarks (built in monitor @1440p on turbo mode preset, max settings): SotTR RTX shadows + DLSS: 51 FPS (3080: 61) Control RTX high+ minimal DLSS: 60 FPS but seemed capped. RDR2: 40 (3080: 54) AC odyssey: 51 (3080: 53) Doom eternal: 120 (3080: 130) Deep learning: Using a simple CNN with 25000 cats vs dog images, 10 epochs, batch size 10: 7.43 mins (3080: 6.92 mins). This test varied in time results on multiple run thoughs but generally the 3080 was faster (as it really better be lol).

This laptop is insane. Seriously, it's hard to hard to believe it exists, especially for the price. I was looking for something to replace my 7 year old desktop PC (with more recent GPU upgrades) and this laptop destroys it in benchmarks and performance while gaming, so I'm beyond pleased. The hype around this machine is truly deserved. PROS: - Metal body (some say it's plastic, not sure why, only the bottom panel and screen bezels are plastic) - Crazy performance - Good thermals - Beautiful screen - Best laptop keyboard I've ever used - ASUS software is actually pretty good - Price CONS: - No webcam - No thunderbolt (obviously) - Soldered RAM (biggest bummer) - SSD screws are VERY difficult to remove I'm incredibly impressed with this laptop, it easily could have cost $2400 and no one would have questioned it, at $1800 it's no wonder it sells out so fast. A near perfect machine IMO (just that soldered RAM...)

I've been building PCs for 22 years. Haven't built a new one for myself since 2012 and decided maybe it was time for a laptop instead, so I picked this one up after extensive research. So far, so good. Great styling, it's light and thin, materials don't feel cheap, responsive trackpad, all the ports I need (USB-C is required for external monitor functionality with RTX 3070), and a really nice vibrant screen with minimal light bleed. The only issue I've run into, and I have found this is a common problem, is that these ship with a poor WiFi6 card. My speeds were half of what they should be in Wireless AC. I bought an Intel AX210 to replace it and now we're flying. I paired up my PS5 controller for gaming and found that it performs admirably even without the external screen. I highly recommend.

The laptop has a nice feel to it. It’s very lightweight which makes it ideal for college students. I get about 6 hours of battery life with 75% screen brightness with light internet browsing and YouTube. Expect about a hour and a half for gaming. You can almost max everything out while plugged in, but take a little performance drop off while unplugged, that’s to be expected though. The laptop can get quite hot if doing intensive tasked but for some internet browsing or lightwork it’s just warm. Quite impressive considering how thin and light it is. Overall I would highly recommend this laptop

I bought this laptop to use for office work as well as game on it. The built quality is great , the QHD screen is nice for a gaming laptop . Has AMD's latest mobile chip. Has decent battery life when running on the internal video card. The laptop has great specs on paper so why did I return it ? Read below to find out. Negatives : The laptop display is not connected directly to the descrete GPU which bottlenecks the gaming performance. The CPU gets too hot while under load and graphics driver crashes while gaming and the final deal breaker for me was the right speaker popping and cracking. This is a common issue with these latops which asus must address soon as online forums are full of owners whit speaker issues. ASUS has to have better quality control for an $1800 premium laptop and this one quite doesn't stand up to it's competition .

      Dear FrankTHEJIN,

Absolutey, the laptop has a great specifications and build quality.

The GPU will automatically switch to the GeForce GPU if needed. This can be manually setup inside the Nvidia Control Center.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates more heat than normal while the laptop is under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.

Regarding the speakers issue, please verify if the speakers are working properly and the audio driver is up to date. Also, keep Windows up to date for optimum stability and performance.

I really enjoy it. It’s extremely fast and plays games at the highest settings. I wish there was a web cam built in. It’s also strange how it vents hot air onto the screen. This is my fourth asus laptop and they have all performed well. Love it!

Very fast computer. I purchased it primarily for Adobe Premiere to work on my 4K drone videos. There is just a trace lag periodically but otherwise handles the 4K very well. If I try to do complex transitions it requires it to be rendered to look at it Otherwise the computer is light and portable. The screen is great. Seems really solid. Starts right up. The adobe software loaded quickly. It handles external drives well. It has only a micro sd slot which may be a slight problem with my Camcorder but is not a problem with the gopro and drone. I had to get into the Armoury crate software since the keyboard was flashing in sleep mode. Once I hit the right setting the problem was solved. It tries to keep the fan very quiet, but if After Effects or Premiere stresses the system you can hear the fan but it is not obtrusive.

I love this Laptop. I originally wanted Asus but switched to Razer because of some issues I was having with getting a defective g14. Nobody's fault, it happens. The Razer 15 was pretty awesome but I use my laptop for browsing and Netflix half of the time while in bed or on the couch and it got too hot. Well this g15 is perfect for me. It has a superior keyboard, better speakers, and runs much cooler and is just more energy efficient overall, although I am sure intel will catch up to this. I haven't gamed on it much yet but I already know what to expect. My biggest need with this was just to have something that is fast but doesn't use a ton of power and run the fans on full blast all of the time. And I just want to say thank you to Best Buy. The Pandemic has been really hard on me and they have been very understanding with my returns. With this purchase in particular, I ordered online out of fear of the laptop being sold out. It was suppose to be ready today but the truck was delayed. Best Buy went above and beyond to help me get the computer before I get stranded at home from the weather. They allowed me to cancel the online order and buy the last one they had in stock at the store. I couldn't be happier with their dedication to the customer. This is one of the few places that still puts the customer first. You can tell that this is one of the companies that is going to make it, despite Amazon putting a lot of other's out of business. Thanks again Best Buy, really.

All of the major aspects of this are practically perfect. Incredible speeds from the components, beautiful panel, and insanely light for how much it packs. Additionally, the armory crate software is actually pretty good (for controlling OC profiles and fans). To no surprise, my only complaints are thus 1.) It could use a numpad. The keyboard would be a bit cramped, but I've had 15'6" laptops that make it fit. This is a personal preference though 2.) The fans can be LOUD, and they can be needed. When it's pushing high workloads, if you have it on performance or turbo mode, it's a bit loud for a non-personal environment. Additionally, letting it bake in silent isn't the ideal answer either, as it CAN push itself to a heat shutdown in some scenarios. I'd like something between silent and performance, but armory has certain 'rules' that make this hard.

My kiddo is the gamer and purchased this as one of his Christmas Gifts. Display and speed of this computer is amazing. Despite the company saying between 6 to 8 hours of battery life, he hasn't come close to that level. A little disappointed with that, fans run loud and device gets pretty hot. I believe he said it peaked at 95c last night on temp. Overall he is very pleased so I am pleased.

Was worth the Wait and money!!, I've watched countless reviews and decided this was the best gaming laptop for the price, preforms better than expected, the IPS QHD is stunning. The speaker crackled issue has been resolved, No Webcam but eh, and 8gb RAM soldered, very light weight and portable, I haven't encountered any issues thus far, if you can manage to get your hands on it once it's in stock I highly recommend!

I spent weeks researching before purchasing this laptop. It's a beast in terms of performance, and while I don't do much computer gaming at all, this is exactly what I needed for day trading stocks. My last laptop was several years old and had a super slow processor. I tried trading on it for a couple months but as soon as it started costing me money due to lag, I knew it was time for an upgrade. The ROG Zephyrus RTX 3070 might be a bit of overkill (or a lot), but it gives me room to grow my trading setup. Runs my external monitor with ease, and I constantly have 8+ applications running with zero noticeable drag. Would def recommend to other day traders, and I'm sure it's solid for gamers as well.

This laptop isn't the highest performing gaming laptop on the market. But the balance between slim form factor and performance is amazing. It's enjoyable to use and packs enough performance to not leave you wanting more. The 1440p display is high quality and nice upgrade from the 1080p display you'll find on similar models. Also, the fingerprint scanner in the power button is a nice touch. I love this computer but it does have some downsides. 8gb of the 16gb of RAM is soldered on which is a bummer but there's still one slot that can be upgraded. There's no webcam which is unfortunate in the era of Zoom.

Overall, I really like what this laptop has going on. Runs all the games I want great, battery life is good, screen looks great. There are just a few things to watch out for in my opinion: I should've looked into this myself but it is not a full size keyboard, was hard to adjust to personally. It's quite loud when running games which I expected, just something to know. When browsing the net or watching vids it's quiet. This laptop has HUGE issues with going to sleep. The first laptop shipped to me would not go to sleep at all, I checked all the settings, ran updates, uninstalled asus programs, reset the whole pc, and contacted asus support and it was never able to be put to sleep. I always had to completely shut off otherwise it'd stay on, you could hear the fan whirring. Tried to solve the issue for a week or two, no shot. Took it back to best buy and got a replacement, this one straight from the store actually goes to sleep however if I leave my earphones plugged in it will not sleep. If I disconnect everything from it, sleeps just fine. So I highly suggest testing out sleeping your laptop when you get it, replace it asap if it shows these issues.

Ok, speakers. They are acceptable. The bass does make fuzzy sound at high volume. HOWEVER! These speakers are not even comparable to the $100 external speakers that I'm using. Even if ASUS fixed this issue, the sound quality is far from being enjoyable. So, it actually doesn't matter that much. Just turn down the volume or use a headphone (what I always use when gaming). The build is solid. The QHD display is spectacular. The performance is great. So far in 2021, at this price range, this laptop is the BEST option no doubt, especially you want to use it for both work and gaming. If you are a hardcore gamer, I would recommend Strix G17/G15 which should render more gaming performance but you will not have QHD display.
