Disappointing Quality Control: Zephyrus G15 2021
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have already requested 2 exchanges, and both seem to be lemons. The machine is good, and could be excellent, but the quality control is really disappointing. Let me lay out my expectation, and if you don’t have the same expectation as I do, you may find the machine satisfactory. I expect this machine to be the do-it-all machine. I expect: 1. good gaming performance (while plugged-in), 2. good battery life for regular workflow, 3. good amount of ports and good keyboard + trackpad, 4. nice screen with sufficient brightness. 5. Don’t overheat while doing regular work A lot of reviewers on Youtube have said that the machine is also quiet. I don’t particularly care about the machine being quiet. In case you do, I affirm that it is indeed quiet. Item 1, 3, and 4 are all good. My disappointments are about item 2 and item 5, which means that both machines have mediocre to poor battery life (item 2), and both run hot when I do regular tasks such as browsing youtube and using on Microsoft Word (item 5). In terms of battery life, the best I can get with the first machine is 7.5 hours playing youtube and nothing else, which drains about 15mw. This is way below the test results of the majority of Youtubers who got 9-10 hours doing the same thing. The second machine is even worse. I started my day at 9am with regular workflow, which includes downloaded some software, installed them, and open a few of them while only working on Word. It regularly drains 30-40mw. 2 hours later the battery has only 25% left, which means that I can’t even get through the morning doing regular tasks with this machine. The alleged battery life is a very important reason why I want this machine, and this is simply unacceptable. In terms of oveaheating, I am also highly annoyed because for both machines, the keyboard deck and the wrist area get warm while I work on Word. It is Microsoft Word, and my hands would sweat if I work for long. I can’t imagine how hot it could be if I play games. This kind of overheating is also unacceptable to me. I think both machines are probably lemons, because they just have weird performance issues in addition to disappointing battery life and weird overheating. This means that ASUS just has quality control issues. I really want to like this machine, and it shows great potentials. But it is simply not reaching its full potential for me. I will try one last return and exchange. If I still get a lemon, then I have to say goodbye to this machine.

Speaker pop destroys an otherwise great laptop...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for gaming and to also use for regular use in new business focused around financial modeling and data science. I bought this laptop because I had high hopes for it to become my go to rig for when the world gets back to normal and I start traveling again for work. The laptop is light and the styling is very pretty not super overstated gaming look like a MSI GE Raider or GS Stealth. However, I had no better luck than many on here I'm reviews or elsewhere that can be found on Reddit. I had a very faint pop anytime the speakers kicked on. I had hoped I could simply overlook it or get over it. But it just grated on me too much. I ultimately travel for work enough and would be using this with speakers that I couldn't get over it. I returned it on 3/15 after receiving on 3/12. I troubleshot the issues with the laptop and reinstalled drivers updated BIOS and even performed a full system reset twice to see if it was to blame on the software. It wasn't and I took it to my local store and talked with Geek Squad team members and they agreed it was the hardware QC for speaker. Couldn't play the lottery as the laptop is rarely available for sale at the current time. Graphics were wonderful it did get a little hot at the function keys if gaming. VR on Quest 2 worked great with Virtual Desktop but wasn't so great with Link cable. Oculus app says graphics card doesn't meet minimum requirements. Just an issue with the 3000 RTX cards for now. I returned it and just got a Stealth 15M today from MSI. Speakers aren't the best but aren't that bad. My Lenovo 15.6 730 kills them both soundwise. The 3060 in the Stealth 15M and the setup seems to perform better with the Oculus Quest 2 setup via the link cable than the ASUS G15 with the 3070. However, it wasn't as responsive in Wifi mode with Virtual Desktop.

Very good laptop, but with issues.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like how this laptop runs, the screen is beautiful, but I've had more issues with this laptop than any other laptop I've owned. My first laptop ran fine until about a month when the gpu stopped working completely, and I had to swap it with another one. Very glad I was able to swap it without issue. This second laptop has not had any issues with the gpu as of 6-ish months of ownership, but there have been issues with the lan card. 3 times the card had just stopped working, so I searched for a solution. Ended up following a subreddit and that fixed it. Haven't had that happen in a few months now. So far so good. Durability-wise, the keys are seemingly not built to last. I dont bash my keyboard nor am I aggressive with my clicks, yet still paint started to chip on one key and eventually, somehow, the D key cracked along the middle. I fixed the crack with some JB weld but painting in the key is a whole other issue that I havent gotten to yet. Sometimes, also the fans make a rattling noise. Im not sure what that is, but I will most likely take a look and dust them off when I have the time. There are also some other minor software issues, but I dont think they're important enough to discuss on here.

Indeed, it is a good laptop and the screen is beautiful.
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused regarding the issues you have had with two laptop. First impression of Zephyrus 15 2021
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally received my order today. First impression of the laptop, very well constructed and light weight. Setup was a breeze, so far no problems. Pro 1. fast, very fast 2. keyboard feels great and the large trackpad is just wonderful 3. slim and light for a fairly high end gaming laptop Con 1. laptop arrived with no charge what so ever 2. the fingerprint sensor doesn't work most of the time Overall I am pretty satisfied with it so far. I've owned several Asus laptops before with mixed result. Hopefully this one will be another positive one.

Look online first always for professional reviews!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many great full product reviews online made by people who do reviews for a living. I highly recommend checking those out. My experience personally has been that this laptop is fantastic for both work and play. I did upgrade mine with a 32 GB stick of DDR4 RAM since 8GB is permanent. That soldering of RAM I was not as happy about, but for the price and performance I knew that going into it. The Asus website stated a 16 GB stick of RAM for a total of 24 GB, but I can confirm it works to add 32 GB. I also added another 1TB M2 SSD. I would soon as well if you plan to add another SSD as I hear they are going to go up in price soon. Some sort of crypto coin mining using SSD. Just what we needed! The other thing to note is that while slim and elegant, it does get very hot above the keyboard in short order. The feel is overall is high quality and the screen is vibrant and will not disappoint. This is my third Asus laptop and I have used their motherboards to build my own PCs since the mid to late 90s. I have never been disappointed. I always recommend Asus to all of my friends. I went for a higher processor model and RTX 3070 versus a friend who went with an Asus Scar that has an RTX 3080 and ended up with a lower Ryzen CPU. Seems to be a few interesting pairings of CPU and GPUs.

Go for something better...
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, it IS powerful.... it DOES look good..... I AM happy with it when it works.... BUT after 3-4 months of light use, I'm getting random BSODs on startup, 90+ CPU temps, the fingerprint sensor stinks, glitchy RGB keyboard lighting that randomly flashes colors and the fans are annoyingly loud. Yes I expect a laptop to be much louder than a desktop but wow.... The only things I've installed on this PC are steam, chrome, discord and spotify.... Oh you want to plug in an external monitor? Hurry!!!! You have 20-30 minutes before it overheats and shuts down! No worries right? Just turn it back on and try again ay? Nope. The Wi-Fi card felt like not working and the bluetooth gave up. Try to update / rollback drivers and BSOD! One fresh windows install later and I have the same problems.

Posted .Dear JamBoyJet,
We do understand your disappointment and the inconvenience if you started experiencing blue screening, overheating and performance issue with the laptop.
The blue screening is possibly a software related issue. If a recent update was installed and caused the issue, please try uninstall the update, or try reverting the system to the last known good configuration by doing a System Restore. Also, try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.
In regards to the overheating issue, please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. Also, please check if the system was not compromised by viruses or malware by doing a full system scan using an internet security software or application.
If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

Great Keyboard and Trackpad, Meh to rear-IO
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trackpad on this felt amazing, but I traded it for a laptop with higher TGP and with rear-facing IO. If this laptop had rear-facing IO and slightly higher TGP I definitely would have kept it. The keyboard and trackpad felt amazing to use. So if neither of those two features are important for you, I can definitely recommend it.

Great Desktop Replacement for Work and Play
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Asus builds great laptops for an affordable price. This is actually the sixth Asus Laptop I have purchased since graduating law school. Asus's build quality and Windows 10 productivity features really help with my law practice. The fingerprint reader integrated into the power button allows instant secure biometric login. Protecting client information with biometrics is a must for any business laptop. The main reason I prefer Asus is the quality of their displays. Being born with a visual impairment, I have struggled with some monitors. The worse seem to be the ones on the high priced "business laptops" provided by law firms. Asus monitors, on the other hand, have always been easier for me to use. This laptop is no exception. If you are looking for a powerful, secure business laptop, this is a great choice. As for gaming online with my children, the only gaming I have time for, this laptop is more than capable. It benches excellent, even with the 3070 limited to 100 Watts. If you need more power from the GPU, the upcoming Strix ROG G15 will have the 3070 at 130 Watts, according to Asus. I am unsure, however, if Strix G15 will support biometrics. For me, protecting client information is more important than a 30 Watt gaming boost.

Great laptop, but doesn't live up to the hype
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2021 was supposed to be the year of gaming laptops: RTX 3000 series refresh and Ryzen chips with phenomenal performance efficiency. Unfortunately, shortages and subpar laptop performance relative to the desktop cards makes laptops like the Zephryus G15 not really a good value proposition as of early 2021. 1900 is a lot to be paying for a thin and light laptop that has the same relative gaming performance as laptops like the legion 7 from 2020 with the RTX2070. The laptop build quality is great and light, but you're really paying for a good value combination of battery life and lightness.

Great laptop, except for the WIFI l....
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome laptop, except for one small thing, the wifi card. The screen...beautiful. Keyboard and touchpad...functional. RGB keys...great! CPU and video card...excellent. Weight for performance...outstanding. I had to return this, sadly. The computer would drop wifi connection constantly. Enough to affect gaming, productivity, and other entertainment purposes. I've had multiple laptops over the years, and this is the first to have such a dramatic issue in the two weeks I had it.

Great gaming laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming laptop. Doesn't have the number keys in the touch ad, but not a biggie. Backlit keys. I can game for hours without plugging in. Very fast, beautiful screen, and runs everything I need it to smoothly. I got an Open Box, and it had all the cables and everything, and was a little less expensive.

good laptop that has some limitations
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.fair gaming laptop, but came with 8GB memory soldered to the motherboard and another 8GB in the empty slot for a total of 16GB instead of just one 16GB soldered to the motherboard (as described by the sale representative). So if looking for 16+16 GB dual-memory processing for whatever reason, not the one to go for. also, can easily get warm even without gaming. Otherwise, great laptop both performance wise and design wise
