    Great all-around!

This was an outstanding Creative Work / Gaming laptop for its price when it released, and it has only lowered in price since then. My only big complaint is the fan design... It pumps out 95C temps and points the exhaust DIRECTLY at the big lower lip of the screen. As a result, it has over time lost its adhesive hold and I'm sending it in for a warranty claim. Still, there are plenty of pros to outweigh any cons and I strongly recommend it.

Battery life is actually incredible seeing as how it is a gaming laptop. I have searched for laptops for a while and after finding this one and using it for about a month its perfect. Its thin, light-weight and the sleek design is a pretty good aspect. Runs game pretty well for example warzone gets about 120 fps on average with setting on high. The only down side is that when gaming is that the fans are loud but that is expected for any gaming laptop of this caliber. Overall great buy.

Upgraded From ROG STRIX 1080TI Desktop

I upgraded from my desktop GTX ROG STRIX 1080TI in hopes of having a just as powerful but portable computer. I was not disappointed! What I love most about it are: 1. The screen comes “calibrated” and looks way better than standard 1440p screens. 2. Speakers are phenomenal for a laptop, way better than any other windows laptop. 3. Even not being a G Sync screen it’s still VERY fast and smooth with the 3070. 4. Battery life in this GAMING laptop is insane! 5. Keyboard feels great! 6. Integrated Asus software is very easy to navigate.

This laptop is amazing! Better build quality than I thought, top tier CPU and good GPU (80W TGP + 20W Dynamic Boost). It's good enough for me since I only do casual gaming and this laptop is mainly a working laptop for me. No broken speaker as I tested it out, so it's all good.

This laptop far exceeded my expectations. It has a power punch great performance. You can control how much power it outputs with silent mode, performance, and turbo for max power. fan noose is as expected there's so much power packed into one laptop. Keyboard feels great and honestly for a 3070 with all the trimmings at its current price is beyond a great deal. It's my honest opinion I don't favor the company. I just care that I spent my money right

I have been using this laptop for 2 Months now and I can say that everything in this laptop is perfect. Solid build, really good screen and an absolute beast. I constantly get around 10+ hours of battery life on Windows. Doesn't get too hot and stabilizes around 75 degree C during Stress Tests and completely silent in the silent mode. The only problem faced with this machine is the wifi card not working when using dual booted Ubuntu apart from that its a perfect machine.

    Almost a Perfect Gaming Laptop

Almost perfect. This laptop is amazing for the price considering companies like Razer and MSI have laptops with almost identical priced at $2,200 USD+ while this one is priced at $1,800 USD. They keyboard and trackpad are amazing and good quality. It is very quite for a thing & light gaming laptop with such a powerful GPU and CPU. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because for two reasons, the model which I received has extremely noticeable light bleed on the top right corner. The second reason is that I am unable to use my Oculus Quest 2 VR headset with it due to the computer trying to use the integrated AMD Radeon GPU and no the RTX 3070 GPU. I have contacted, AMD, Oculus, NVIDIA, and Asus about this. Oculus told me to contact Asus and he rest couldn't help me. Asus has been trying to help me but the last time they emailed me was almost a month ago and they haven't emailed me back. Other than those two things this laptop is pretty much perfect.

    The Real Deal

TL:DR - It's pretty much perfect. If you're looking for a thin and light laptop perfectly suited for both productivity and gaming. Look no further. The absence of a webcam may be a deal breaker if you're doing a lot of video conferencing, but it's not for me. The arrival of Ryzen 5 CPUs and Nvidia 3000 GPUs in laptops is a big deal. If you're in the market for a new laptop for school, work, gaming, video/photo editing, drafting ... really anything - you need to pay attention to this one. The new zephyrus G15 is an absolute performance beast. I'm coming from a desktop i7 9700 and 2080 super, to this, and the G15 puts it to shame. Design and build quality The chassis is very well built. Asus states that it's a magnesium alloy and I don't doubt it. There is some flex on the keyboard deck, but nothing outrageous, very sturdy feeling overall. Of note, the bottom of the chassis is made of a plastic, still looks good, but would've been nice to have the metal all around. Still, I have no fear about tossing this in a bag and taking it with me, it's rock solid. And light! This weighs about 4 pounds, a bit more with the charger. I'm not fussed about laptop weight for the most part, but this feels just right to me. The laptop lid has these tiny perforations running across half its surface. Behind the little holes is some sort of ... I don't know what, but it makes for a subtle prismatic shimmering when viewed from different angles. Maybe divisive, but I really like it. The other half has a matte finish, just like the keyboard deck. The only "gamer" branding is a glossy rectangular badge in the corner that says "republic of gamers EST 2006" and has the Asus ROG logo. It's a glossy metal accent that just looks good. That's the overall impression when you unbox this thing. It's beautiful. I really love the matte finish as it looks cleaner and resists fingerprints, BUT the surface does still discolor slightly from regular handling. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth is all it takes to keep it looking clean. The keyboard is a laptop keyboard, but a surprisingly good one. The keys have more travel than any laptop that I've used before which makes typing feel more natural to someone, like me, who types everything on an MX blue mechanical keyboard. It doesn't feel as nice and as natural as that, which is why I'm typing this review on my desktop, but it's easily the most comfortable laptop keyboard I've ever used. There's also RGB lighting which looks very nice, though it's not per-key lighting if that's something you're looking for. It's a laptop so no number pad, which isn't a big deal for me, but the removal of the print screen key is something that I'll miss. I take a lot of screenshots and I use dropbox + print screen to instantly save them. This means I've had to remap that function on the laptop. Not a deal breaker by any means, but maybe something you should know. Overall the keyboard is very well built, perfectly functional, and it looks nice. Well done asus. The touchpad on this thing .... glorious. It's big, it's smooth as silk, super responsive, and .... uh what else is there to say. It works, flawlessly. Every time. Two finger swiping up and down through web pages, right and left click, it's all perfect. I'm shocked that more companies don't put touchpads this large on their devices. It makes the user experience so much better. It's perfect. I/O There's a total of 4 usb ports (2 good ones) on this laptop, which isn't bad for it's small size. I'd really like to see USB C across the board with these, but type A is still very useful. We've also got HDMI 2.0b out, ethernet, headphone jack, and a micro sd card reader. The 2 type C ports are USB3.2 Gen 2 with displaport 1.4 support and power delivery. So that's a lot, what's it mean. It means your type c ports can charge the laptop (not fast charge) with a sold-separately 100 watt usb-c charger. You can also charge phones/tablets/bluetooth headsets and whatnot from them (that's the power delivery). You can ALSO connect up to two monitor's through USB C to drive up to a 4k display at 120hz or 1440p at 165hz. This is what my laptop will be doing for the forseeable future. There's also an added benefit in terms of performance when using an external monitor over these type c connectors. The other nice thing about the type C on these machines is that they have massive bandwidth which will support virtually any usb dongle/hub/dock you could imagine. BUT you should really only drive a monitor directly from the port, not from a hub. More on external displays later. Speakers They're not great, which isn't surprising. They get reasonably loud, and are very clear which is nice, but this is one area where you'll probably want a headset. The woofer's underneath the laptop don't really do much of anything, offering a bit of a sad thump to music and movies. It's enough to get you by, and some people may even find these to be great, but .... nah not me. My iPad Pro speakers destroy the G15 in a side-by-side comparison. But again, they're fine. Perfectly acceptable, but not at all remarkable, laptop speakers. The Mics The mics are actually far more impressive than i would have expected. I have zero intentions of using them, but doing a few quick tests with audacity and fiddling with the included audio software - it's quite impressive. The mics do a great job of catching and isolating your voice against background noises, though I don't know how well that will work to muffle game sounds if you're using these for discord. Still, very nice. The Display It's amazing. Big, bright, and bold, with that 165hz refresh rate, everything looks good here. It's also pantone validated and meets various color/brightness standards, which I don't fully understand, but man. Fantastic display. Odds and ends - - 90 watt hour batter, seems good so far for light productivity, schoolwork, streaming media etc. - fast charging, and yes it is actually fast, love to see this on laptops now - wifi6 which my router doesn't support, but still has a rock solid connection from any room in the house. - fingerprint reader, works fast and unlocks every time - micro sd card slot - sure I guess, but why? I'll never use this - the software - it's not good. the asus stuff needs to be streamlined. there's a lot of control you have over clocks/fans/power etc. so that you can fine tune your machine's performance to suit any situation, but man is it clunky. a lot of bloat here, but this is traditional asus if you've ever used their stuff before. they need to pump some more money into their software development. but it works, which is more than I can say for some other system builders Performance - GPU I've only run a few games on here so far, but they've all run very well. Control on max settings including RTX runs smooth as silk. Cyberpunk doesn't fare quite as well but still runs ultra smooth, but you're looking at fps in the 40s-50s. Still amazing performance considering my desktop class 2080 super is offering me nearly identical performance at much higher power draw. I'm impressed. Some things to note though which you may not be familiar with. Nvidia's GPU switching tech (that is software that smartly switches between the integrated GPU and the discrete GPU without requiring a windows restart) can have a significant impact on performance. I don't know why and the tech reviewers are speculating, but the sad reality is that this quality of life feature will rob you of some performance. How much? Depends on the game and your setup. You can disable optimus, but without some tinkering windows will re-enable it after a restart, and frankly having to choose which GPU to use at any given time is annoying. While nobody wants to leave gaming performance on the table in the name of convenience, there is thankfully some good news. If you're connecting an external monitor via USB-C (like I am) and using the laptop on ac, you will get the full performance that this 3070 can offer you. For whatever reason when using this setup the IGPU is completely bypassed, which takes optimus out of the equation. This can yield substantial performance gains from what I've seen (10-13% and up). Since this is replacing my bulky gaming rig, this is very good news for me, but still an annoyance for many. Nvidia needs to optimize optimus to prevent these kinds of performance drops. Still no complaints from me whether using the laptop plugged in on it's on display, an external display, or even on battery. Esports titles like CSGO and League run perfectly on battery, better plugged in, but still. Impressive stuff. CPU The CPU is a straight beast, no caveats. I ran an encode test in premiere where I was outputting a 10ish minute video to 1440p and the laptop finished more than three minutes faster than my desktop (i7 9700). Now this is anecdotal of course and the number of layers, effects, and whatnot will impact performance, but man. The CPU is just a monster. It'll handle anything you can throw at it for some time to come. No complaints here, I just feel embarrassed for my desktop (and intel) for how poorly it looks by comparison. both GPU and CPU temps are good, fans are decently quiet under load, no complaints here Final thoughts? I've never been a laptop guy, I don't like the idea of taking a pc out into the world where things are unpredictable and everyone is trying to spill water, food, or who knows what on my electronic devices ... probably. And yet here we are. My desktop PC is being relocated beneath the desk, condemned to life as a second-class "work" device. I never would have expected an 1800 dollar laptop to outperform a 2 year old 2k desktop, but here we are. The Zephyrus G15 is compact, beautifully designed, and has exceptional performance. Asus wins this round

Have used this laptop for a few days, it is an incredible machine. It has a good weight to it, not too heavy and not too light. It is relatively thin given the specs of the laptop. Charging brick is quite slim as well. The screen provides an amazing gaming experience. RGB keyboard, although not individual rgb, still looks very good. Keyboard is taking some getting used to, but provides a good usage experience. Trackpad is very good when doing business or school work. Fan noise is pretty typical for a gaming laptop.

This laptop has been really good so far. Bought it for my gamer wife as her old one was really showing its age and just couldn't handle anything newer than 2015 without severely compromising the graphics quality. As a lot of people know, getting your hands on anything with an RTX 30 series graphics card is a bit of a pain as they sell out immediately, but if you can get your hands on it you won't regret it. The display itself is pretty nice too, so you'll definitely be blown away playing on this thing.

I don't know how this is so cheap or how they got it so small. It is a great laptop. It did only have 16GB ram with 8 of that soldered to the MB. So I replaced the one 8GB chip (there is only the one slot) with a 32 gB for a total of 40. The 3070 is awesome as you would expect. It is so small and light for a laptop with this kind of power. Even the power brick is not a monster like some gaming laptops.

I bought this and replaced my desktop with a 10600k and RTX 2060. This outperforms the desktop processor by a mile and matches or slightly beats the desktop 2060 while using only 80-100 watts! I'm absolutely floored by the performance. I do highly recommend using a laptop cooler to keep the laptop fans low as they are loud with settings cranked. The screen is beautiful although I mainly use it with a monitor I love that this monitor is on par with the best as Asus is known for in the gaming realm.

This is a great laptop. I got it for doing work and some gaming and it has no problem with development or gaming. My only complaint would be I would love 32gb of ram instead of 16gb but my old laptop died and I couldn't wait and this was on sale and available. Has no issue playing cyberpunk or other top tier titles buttery smooth.

So far, an excellent machine! It doesn’t even get that hot which from previous experience, was a big pain point for me. I still can’t believe how light weight and sleek it is considering the sheer power. The only issue is the soldered on 8 GB RAM but for my purposes, 16 GB is plenty for me. It also bleeds a bit of light which is more apparent when the screen is black but that’s not a biggie. I installed an extra 1TB of storage so I think I’m set for a long time. Highly recommend!

A lightweight laptop with killer performance. For anyone on a budget looking for a premium experiences, this laptop is to good to pass up. Minor inconvenience : * Screen brightness (adequate but not premium) * 8 gigs of the 16 gigs of ram is soldered resulting in any future upgrades with a duel channel memory performance dip.

When it comes to performance this laptop is top tier, obviously there are other laptops out there that might perform slightly better but at this price point it’s hard to beat the value you get with this laptop in the configuration it is here. Overall build quality is very solid, one of the best laptops I’ve used in a long time. There is a surprising lack of cheap feeling parts and even those parts that are plastic still feel solidly built. The Screen on this laptop is very nice, and it’s 1440p resolution seem just right for the size of the display. It’s not hard to read text and motion is super smooth. Also, the brightness of the display while not the brightest thing I’ve ever used is just about right for this display size. The Keyboard is one of the best I’ve used in a laptop period. Super nice crisp feeling keys make typing on this laptop a nice surprise to what I would have expected from a slim profile laptop keyboard. The back lighting of the keys is also nice since you can change the overall color to one that better suits your preferences. I do wish it had per key backlighting but the single zone lighting works well. I have one main complaint I would like to bring up about this laptop though. While 16GB is enough for most daily use it would have been nice if 8GB of that was not soldered to the motherboard like it is. This makes it essentially impossible to upgrade the ram and keep dual channel operation in any real useful way. This made me doc a star from the rating. But for most people 16GB will be plenty for there use case so this issue will probably never really come up in any normal workload. Now for the real meat, playing games on this laptop. While the mobile 3070 may not stand up to its desktop brethren it can still hold its own in essentially any game you want to play. While raytracing may not be the best at this level normal gameplay at ultra settings without raytracing turned on is amazing and the refresh rate of the screen is very nice to have when you have a GPU that can perform well. Also, the fact that you can use DLSS because this is an RTX series card gives you that little bit of extra power that you might not have had otherwise. Overall, it’s a solid platform for gaming. One little word of note, if you plan on using this machine on your lap and not on a table or on a cooler or something, I would recommend maybe not doing that. It can get very warm on the bottom when under heavy load, it’s not going to burn you or anything, but it might be a tad bit uncomfortable. I would say stick to using it on a desk or a cooling pad.

Got this for my son for his birthday. It was open box and the last one in the US left, luckily it was only a 2 hour drive away. Runs amazing for gaming and he is able to stream at the same time without issue. The fans do ramp up a bit loud, but that's to be expected with a gaming laptop.
