Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Good quality, good touchpad, great performance.. echh.. not exactly. It's my second G15 this year and this devil runs HOT. Without the external monitor CPU goes up to 95C when I'm playing games. With the external monitor it just jumps in hibernation bc of overheating. It didn't make it thru CS:GO, and once thru even Chrome with bunch of tabs open. Yes I know, I turned off CPU boost tweaking register, etc etc.. That solved the problem but it's not what you do with a new, top of the line laptop. Returning this one and going for a third-final round. If it's not gonna work, I will wait for Legion 5 Pro. Seems like thermals there are rally sweet. ps speakers was bad on both laptops.

I haven't owned a gaming machine in years, and due to the pandemic supply chain issues, laptops seem to be the way to go when it comes to being actually able to get a GPU. This laptop performs well and feels solid. I read and watched some reviews and it seemed like a good choice. The sale price sealed the deal. I'm happy with my purchase and play AAA and indie games on it with good to great framerates and graphics settings.

This computer meets my expectations. Most importantly once idling it runs in the 40 Celsius range. Temperatures matter a lot to me. I dont want a computer running EVER at 90 celsius. It runs about 75-85 while playing WoW. This is acceptable. The speakers and the keyboard are great. Touch pad is phenomenal. Having Radeon and Nvidia graphics at the same time is a little odd.

Overall build quality is excellent and it comes in a space grey color. It is constructed from a mix of aluminum and plastic. The top lid itself is a nice aluminum, while the rest of the body is plastic. While the materials aren’t premium, it does allow the machine to be more economically friendly as well as lighter, which is a plus in my book. It is prone to smudges and light wear, so keep that in mind. I think it will be fairly durable, but it won’t look new for long

Purchased this laptop for my daughter attending her first 2 years of college. Downloaded all the Microsoft applications (Office,Excel, PowerPoint, ect.) To write papers and everything else. But she perfered this gaming laptop to also have a past time for gaming at the dorm, which in turn keeps her out of trouble so I was all for it. Great graphics and speed/processor! Caught it on sale which is always a plus!

Incredible Gaming Laptop - Great Price!

As mentioned in the other reviews, this laptop is very powerful and extremely well designed. I was surprised by how compact and lightweight it is being a powerful gaming laptop that has run every game I have thrown at it. Framerates are great and I can play mostly everything I want at max settings. Red Dead Redemption 2 looked phenomenal on the 2K screen and played very smooth at high-to-ultra settings. I also tested Red Dead on my 1080p plasma TV screen with the graphics slider maxed and achieved a smooth 60+ FPS at minimum. I checked the memory capacity in the Windows 10 command prompt, and it appears the maximum RAM the system allows for is 32gb. Since 8gb is soldered onboard and the remaining 8gb is replaceable, the options to upgrade are to add a 16gb stick for 24gb max, or a 32gb stick for 40gb max. However, since the system capacity is 32gb, I am assuming that 32gb total is all that will be recognized when adding up to 40gb, meaning a loss of 8gb. I ordered a 32gb stick and will be installing shortly to test this. I also am unsure if I will lose dual channel capability if I upgrade. There is mixed information regarding this, but I am hoping to maintain dual channel on the 8gb soldered, and 8gb of the 32gb stick. I believe the remaining 16gb should run in single channel, so it will be better than the standard 16gb it comes with. There is also much debate about whether 32gb is necessary, but I won’t get into all of that. Regardless of any of these points, I will still be giving a 5-star rating based on my satisfaction with the gaming capabilities. I will mostly be gaming with the laptop at home or on vacations, so I will run on battery most times. Therefore, I am not concerned with battery life. Not having a built-in webcam is a bit disappointing, but I will be purchasing an external one with some of the $5.00 certificates I received from my Best Buy rewards card, so this is not a huge deal for me either. I will also eventually purchase an external Blu-ray drive. Carrying the camera and Blu-ray drive around with me if I need to travel will be a bit of annoyance, and I also purchased a 15.6” cooling pad which will need to come with me. I know cooling pads are not incredibly effective, but it still allows for better airflow. I am still working on an effective solution for packing everything for travel. None of these issues are a deal breaker. Another observation is when gaming the fans can get fairly loud, but I am not surprised by this considering all gaming laptops I have owned have been loud when playing graphic-intense games. It was still pretty quiet when I played Red Dead Redemption 2 on my 1080p TV propped up on the cooling pad, with the fans only occasionally kicking into high gear. I did not take scientific measurements on FPSs, fan decibels, screen brightness, or color accuracy, as I am not overly concerned with exact measurements. The gameplay is smooth, the 2K image is very nice, and the colors look good to me. The last thing I will say is I haven’t experienced the sound issues other reviewers have mentioned. Everything sounds great, and I generally play games with my Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones which sounds equally amazing. All in all, I give it 5-stars and am very pleased with the purchase.

After having this for a good 3 weeks, running benchmarks, using it for programming, rendering models, and light gaming, this computer has been absolutely phenomenal. The performance has been exceptional, and battery life is amazing for a gaming laptop. There are a few tweaks out of the box such as the lighting on the keyboard being weird during sleep. I also didn't have any weird popping sounds people claim fortunately. I give it two thumbs up.

Exetreme thin for the absolute punch of power that you get. Runs half life alyx and asgards wraith in vr at 1440p on the highest settings and can still stream with reasonable encoding. The screen itself outside of vr is incredible, crisp, sharp, and bright. Colors are wonderful. I'm pushed it as hard as possible almost everyday and it hasn't even whimpered. Well worth it is these trying times of gpu shortages.

I have had two of these. The first had issues on Turbo mode. The current one is great. It can play everything smooth and is great for development as well. The heat is an issue so get a coolpad when you are gaming.

A light, quiet, powerful state of the art gaming laptop. The AMD multi-tasking performance is exceptional. The MyAsus and ROG Armoury Crate provide powerful control. Static choice of any color for backlit keyboard. Very slight brighter under key backlit behind a few keys, but I feel fortunate to have purchased this model before the supply was low. 8GB RAM onboard, another 8GB for balanced performance. Yes, I would have liked the White 3080 model, with 16 + 16 but little chance of finding those, and you would pay a lot more. Two future proof USB-C and PD power option on left. Power cable connecting on left. I would have preferred the ports on back like the Strix. For a non-gamer newbie a bit more learning curve on controls, but you have the ROG options for lighting, all I could have wanted. A big step up for me from prior heavy 2018 Acer Predator with 2x the cpu and the RTX 3070 far beyond the GTX 1650. Space key a bit louder when I am trying to be stealth with wife, but near silent with large mouse keypad. Beautiful stylish simple coloring. I do not use it just for gaming. Quick charge for 30 minutes and you have over 4 hours of heavy use. Yes, I would have preferred to have a webcam as well, but I am quite delighted with my purchase.

Absolutely amazing laptop when you factor in price and performance. I won't reiterate the specs since they speak for themselves. Highly recommend this product. The only downside is the lack of a webcam. The easy fix is to use an app which allows your phone to function as a USB webcam. You'll get better video with this too! Hope this review helps!

The first laptop I received was DOA, but Best Buy replaced it and the next one worked great. It is light, fast and has a very high build quality. Games look great 1440p with the 3070. The fans are very noticeable while gaming, so I recommend using a headset. It needs lots of updates fresh out of the box, so be patient. I got it on sale and at $1550, it’s hard to beat.
