Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Almost a great laptop. It has great performance, build, design, screen, audio.. but as a whole package it was just annoying to use. It wouldn't sleep most of the time. It would select the wrong video card for games. The trackpad would misbehave at inopportune times. Wanted to love it, but it just needs more refinement. Got a g14 and it's night and day from a usability standpoint. Too bad it doesn't pack the performance punch of the g15.

So far so good. Had to get used to the keyboard after coming away from a 17 inch laptop with a number pad alongside the keyboard, but it feels great now that I'm more adept at it. It has no webcam, but that was part of why I initially wanted it considering the security risk it entailed. Games play well on it, and my usually illustrative and video editing programs work well too on it.

I would give this 5 stars if both ram were upgradeable but only 1 slot is and you lose dual channel doing that. Its a beast very fast.

Been waiting over a year for a solid Ryzen/Nvidia combo. Beautiful computer. Light, sleek, and a superior build quality. One of the better screens I've had the pleasure of using. It's a tad expensive for the specs though IMO. This 3070 is the 85W variant, which you can find a more powerful GPU for cheaper. Also, no camera in 2021? I could live with purchasing a better external camera, but that only adds the overall price. I ended up returning, and I'm waiting out the Lenovo Legion lineup release. I probably would have kept it if the RTX 3070 was a higher wattage variant. If you care more about build quality over GPU power, this I strongly recommend you give this laptop a shot.

4.5 lb laptop with 9 hour battery and a RTX3070

I am a Razer fanboy but the fact I could add another SSD and upgrade the RAM made it an easy choice of the Razer Blade. Normally I prefer Intel over AMD but this 5900 is no slouch and the battery life using the igpu is in excess of 9 hours. The 3070 is undervolted so it barely competes with a RTX 2070. It's a good thing the 3070 is crippled because the laptop gets hot and loud during gameplay. The only solution is to get a laptop that weighs 50% more but a 6-7 pound laptop no longer makes sense.

Had to get a replacement for a defective display. The replacement I currently am using also has some minor spacebar issues where pressing the corners does not register a key stroke, but, for the most part, I use an external keyboard so I couldn't be bothered to wait another week for another replacement to ship. Aside from that, the performance and design of this laptop is very good and the actual usability of this as both a portable device and a docable battle station is great. Id say wait for a drop to 1550 in price at least but a newer 2022 verdion with better specs are to going to be released soon.

So far, a fantastic laptop! I upgraded from the ROG GU502GV, another best buy exclusive that had the intel i7 and RTX 2060 and this new one is an absolute gaming machine! Running games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Jedi Fallen Order and Shadow of the Tomb Raider on ultra settings with frame rates still hanging around 80 on average. With a cooling pad, it doesn't get nearly as hot or loud as my old one and it's super fast. I dont seem to have the sleep issue many have had, at least once i updated it anyways lol My only qualm so far is the slightest of slightest curve to the cover/lid and the top left corner of the bezel is popped out. You can't see either of these issues though unless you're looking and forcing yourself to find them and have no impact on the actual usage of the thing. I got it with the $300 dollar off sale, which put it at the same price as the last, lesser model i purchased two years ago. A fabulous machine indeed!

Great laptop but have an issue with the fans

Overall, this laptop performs very well. With that said, there are some issues with the fans that I cannot seem to get resolved. On occasion, I will boot the laptop up then the fans will stay in high gear the entire time I’m using the laptop regardless of the temperature. In order for that to go away, I have to completely shut the laptop down and restart it. Simply clicking the restart button(in windows) does not fix the situation. You have to completely shut it down to off. When I reached out to Asus, their recommendation was to send the unit in and have them troubleshoot the issue. However, because I need to use this computer daily (I don’t have a spare) I don’t have the luxury of just sending it in without a replacement readily available to me. With all of that said, the computer is very fast in most applications. It’s boots from start up in about 15 to 20 seconds. One of the downfalls about a PC like this, is that it runs windows 10 home addition. I ended up upgrading it to windows 10 pro. I’m not sure if I will make the jump and go to 11… Unless all the bugs are completely worth out of windows 11.

Upgrading from an MSI I7700HQ, GTX1060 3GB and this thing is a beast. I've been using it for 5 days and all the gaming performance is just amazing consider how thin/light/not noisy this laptop is. My old laptop also has a sucky speaker and this speaker is top notch even gaming without headphones. I do experienced screen flickering and sometimes screen go completely dark for several minutes and that got resolved (somehow) by turning off AMD free sync and placing laptop on a horizontal surface instead of a tilted laptop stand?

A really nice upgrade from my Dell xps 15 from a few years back. My dell couldn't play a lot of the games I play on pc but this ASUS can without hiccups! Keyboard is awesome too. Best keyboard on a laptop(coming from someone who builds custom mechanical keyboards for a hobby). Good price and awesome machine.

I got mine a few days ago after a month of selling my G14, and this one is absolutely stunning. Build quality is great, great temperature, super fast processor and for its price its very worth it. It chews anything you throw at it. Absolute gaming beast! Very happy with my purchase.
