Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Great gaming laptop for the price. Can't complain. The portability of a gaming laptop is what made me go in that direction vs a tower. I am upgrading the GPU to truly maximize the performance but not necessary.

Coming from a Dell, this is great. If is lighter, quieter, and cheaper. The ports are in odd spots, but no biggie. My Dell XPS would almost burn my legs when doing anything with the GPU, and this feels warm, but not scorching.

Great laptop with a lot of power. No problem gaming or doing work on this computer. Only issue is the overly tight screw that blocks the SSD expansion port. They apply far too much loctite to the screw and it makes it very likely that someone will end up stripping the screw before you can take it out. Be careful if you are planning on adding an SSD to this laptop.

Well worth upgrading from the G14

Coming from the G14, the G15 checks off all the boxes for problems I had with the G14. -Battery and power status lights visible when the lid is closed -consistent battery life. G14 sometimes would give 8 hours, sometimes 2 hours. no rhyme or reason to it, with nothing open it would drain itself until a reboot. -1440p at 15" is my ideal resolution. 1080p was a bit tight for multiple programs on screen at once -fans don't run constantly like they did with the G14, silent mode will keep both fans at 0 rpm until they're needed -MUCH prefer the dark casing over the white casing. makes the backlight usable in more than just pitch black lighting conditions -2nd nvme slot if more storage is needed down the line -100w usb pd charging works great as an on the go charger without needing to carry the 200w charger around One odd problem I'm having is the laptop is weirdly inconsistent with sleeping. I haven't looked into it too deeply yet but closing the lid doesn't always enter sleep mode. If it's plugged in and I close the lid, it goes to sleep until I pull the power cord out and then it wakes up.

I see the biggest complain is about ram, honestly though, if you need a gaming laptop for accessibility (ex. you have a pc, but are in school and you travel a lot) this laptop is sooo gooodd! I love it, i can run everything and I love the way it feels and looks, the ram thing doesn't bother me. it runs what i need to, i can school and game at the same time, and even though i just got this, no hiccups yets, come back in 6 months for an updated review, thats about when the real issues occur with any device.

Just upgraded from the Zephyrus m15 after returning it after a week and the difference is night and day. Screen is excellent for gaming/work/browsing/movies, design also really appeals to me but that's more subjective, and performance is kinda mind blowing. I'd never owned a gaming laptop before the m15, and playing Sekiro at 60 fps 1440p in such a small, mobile package really makes you appreciate modern engineering. And since its great as an everyday laptop, it really doesn't have any flaws for me so far. Well I guess no webcam and its not completely metal, but I don't really care about either of those things (the body still feels great). Overall it gets my hearty recommendation.

I had this device for a few week and I was impressed with the build. For the price, it was an amazing device, but the thermals and quality control is horrendous. Maybe I got a defective product, but going through a couple forums I found that a large amount of people had thermal throttling issues with this device. Specifically with my device, I used it for a 2 hour session and it just turned off and never to turn on again. If thermals and quality control were better, this would be the god sent of devices. Sadly, I had to return it after waiting for so long to receive the device. If Asus improved the quality control and thermals for this device, I would buy it but for now I am going to have to chose something more reliable. The display was amazing on this device though, I can at least say that much.

AMD and RTX match made in heaven

I have been doing some research and finally decided on this beautiful machine. Overall it feels premium, is quiet, and of course, the performance is amazing. I think as far as laptops go the 3070 is the sweet spot due to thermals and price to performance range. The screen is beautiful, although wish it was just a tad bit brighter, but the QHD 165hz is such an amazing experience. If you are looking at different 30 series laptops, as of now go with the AMD varients even though they are a little more expensive in some cases. the overall performance and thermals are much better as of 10FEB2021 compared to their intel counterparts.

This seems to be a very good laptop. I chose it because it has impressive specs for both the GPU and CPU and a good size SDD. I am going to have to return it because it does not have a camera and I intended this for use for work and Teams or Zoom calls, but I overlooked the absence of one. It is not the fault of the product manufacturer that I did not investigate it further, though to me it seems odd that there isn't one. I just assumed it.

    Mixed Bag of Issues

I recently picked up this laptop open-box and was THRILLED to have found it as it’s sold out everywhere. I even remember asking the guy who checked me out if he could believe it, and why would anyone return it! I soon found out. Within 15 minutes of having it, Windows presented me with the blue screen of death. The error message was “DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION”: DPC Watchdog Violation refers to the stop code: DPC_Watchdog_Violation, which is a blue screen error that can appear on the Windows operating system. It's usually occurred due to some specific reasons, like unsupported SSD firmware, old SSD driver version, hardware incompatibility issues, or system files are corrupted. I thought that Windows may have been corrupted on it’s original installation and reinstalled Windows. This did not fix the problem, and within an hour of the reinstall I was again presented with the same problem. This time I ran a tool in command prompt to check for corrupt Windows files (sfc /scannow) which did indeed find and supposedly fix several corrupt files. And, again, within another hour it crashed again. I’ve now replaced the original M.2 SSD with a Samsung 970 Pro, and added an additional Samsung 970 Pro to the second M.2 slot. Reinstalling Windows from absolute scratch was a nightmare as Asus has not updated their driver pages with this new laptop model, nor provided the drivers in an easy to download way. I had to create a “MyAsus” account and download drivers through that portal once logged in... which was also buggy and took several attempts to do. One day after installing the new hardware and a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro, I have not had any issues. I definitely see why it got returned. Putting this much work into a laptop that starts at $1700 is absolutely ridiculous, and the only reason it gets two stars instead of one is because the performance when it DOES work is unbelievably good. But was it worth the amount of work to get here? I’ll update this post in a week or so with news on if the new hardware fixed my issues or not.

When I first got this laptop delivered, it's screen had light bleeding issue and this issue has been well-known because of Asus's poor quality control. But Best buy has very good return and replacement policies so they got my laptop replaced. This unit is the perfect laptop one can find for the price. 1. Screen - best in class color accuracy with only issue being lower peak brightness. 2. CPU - Ryzen 9 5900HS : best in class 3. GPU - RTX 3070 : Godly performance! To sum it all up, It's the best package one can find in the market at this point in time for the price. Really happy with the laptop, would definitely recommend to buy! But ensure that the product you get is not faulty right out of the box.

I've been incredibly happy with this purchase. I have a desktop with a 3070 FE and need a laptop for work so I splurged a bit so I have a gaming system when I'm on the road (not literally). This thing performs excellently. Good thermals and high FPS at 1440. It does seem to overheat and enable safety shutdown if you use it while closed on a monitor though. I would recommend getting a stand if that's how you intend on using it. Its designed to lift the base off of the desk surface while opened so when closed you dont get that. Now my only negative is the price but that's what the market fetches now. I was lucky enough to find one open box for about 20% off which seemed like a good value to me.

Great experience, from opening the box to first use. Beginning with the packaging, this laptop was packaged well, and thoughtfully. The unboxing process was intuitive & clean, leaving very little waste aside from the box itself. The laptop came with a power brick, power cable, and standard documentation that you'd expect. The laptop strikes you as well-built from nice materials. The lid has a metallic feel, and you can see attention to details in the casing, such as spacers built into the bottom of the case to ensure proper air flow on any surface. I think that the Best Buy version of this laptop is the best version for the money, and I am very happy I was able to grab one while they were in stock. I ordered this Friday morning, and am writing this review the following Monday afternoon.
